    Comparing

by dog97209 on 6/21/11Foxwoods Theatre - New York

My first Broadway Play was early 80's, got to see Elizabeth Taylor and Mureen Stapleton in Little Foxes, It was outstanding. Spider-man Turn off the Dark was right there, outstanding, total eye and ear candy, absolutely a great job by all. Visiting from Portland, Oregon, I wasn't sure I would attend a Broadway show this time. At the last moment, I found a seat, and so glad I did. Will be talking about my great experience for a long while. Hats Off!

    Very Entertaining!!!!!!

by newyorkcityfan on 6/21/11Foxwoods Theatre - New York

I loved it the first time I saw it before it was "re-worked". I don't understand why all the bad reviews, but it looks like the critics are kinder now that it has re-opened. I would go again - the experience was fantastic!

OK, ok so they gave it a lot of crap, but here is the main points. - The music was good, the critcs were saying it was forgettable, but overall I think they did a good job with it. - The set pieces, like the critics said, were excellent. - The Green Goblin is the best performance. - The finale fight is well worth it. - Try to avoid seats that say partial view... after all, the idea is to be able to see the action that takes place above you... if you must, get the ones that are furthest to the front and to the center towards the stage.. the second level will obstruct the areial stunts.

It's basically the movie with music that doesn't fit very well. If they had made the musical less a rehash of the movie, it could be something better. But as it stands, it's a plot summary of things that have been done better elsewhere. The parts with Arachne were the most interesting- I heard she had a bigger role in the first iteration, but I have no way to gauge it now.

The first act was a bit slow, but act 2 took off and saved the day. There was just one memorable tune in the first act and that to changed with the 2nd act.

    Very impressive

by NorthvilleTom on 6/20/11Foxwoods Theatre - New York

I am a tough grader but came close to giving it 5 stars. It ran about 2:40 minutes (with the 15 minute intermission) and it was captivating throughout. The principle actors had just good vocal skills by Broadway standards but great personalities. I would put this show in the "must see" category. I would be surprised if it did not have a long run.

Spiderman:Turn Off the Dark was blazing

by 1pop on 2/7/11Foxwoods Theatre - New York

It took a little while to get into the story but as events moved foward I was hooked and so were the eight in our group--from 7 to 70. The aerials were spectacular--all beutifully choreographed and skillfully executed, music enjoyalbe to the entire age range of our group and the vocal work of the cast--which was all understandable--contributed to the pleasure of the afternoon. Of course costumes and lighting created visuals not to be forgetten. A risk that has paid off, an effort taken that should be rewarded by years of performances for the enjoyment of thousands. All of us could imagine seeing this performance again.

The most exciting Broadway Show I have ever seen!!

by HRDR on 2/7/11Foxwoods Theatre - New York

This show was very entertaining. After all the hype and somewhat negative publicity it was well worth taking the train from CT on a ugly weather day. The staging and lighting and of course all of the stunts and special effects were so very amazing. The actors that do the flying around do it in a way that is way out there! To have someone take off in flight from the main stage fly around over your heads and land on the staging platform in the lower and upper balconies is very very exciting. More thrilling than any circus stunt. There are saftey wires and I am sure many computors handling the stunts but the theaterical stunts look very dangerous. The show looks like $65 Million in production cost. I felt the first act was somewhat more interesting than the second act. there were some drag on moments in the second act and the ending did not quite meet my expectation as the show ends in a rather unecxiting way. I said..."That's the end?" I expected it to end with the last several minutes being very exciting and it was slightly dull. On balance this was an amazing show for people of all ages to enjoy.

This was the worst show I ever went to ! How can you be in your 66th preview and not having the tecnic working. The story is extremely flat, the music even flatter and the acting are very poor. The only little plus was the stagedesign - and if it was working properly it would have at least be something to put your eyes on - but when I saw the show it had to be put on hold TWICE in the first act because of technical problems. I left in the intermission with a extremely sour taste of this DISASTER SHOW ! It feels like the producers are fooling all us stupid customers to buy ticket to this - and I have seen at least 100 Broadway Shows - worst show ever on Broadway.

Amazing Amazing Amazing Art production, costumes AAA+++!! Story is so so, a bit slow. Music is (even Bono...) OK. My 7 years old told me "singing part was boring and long" I have to agree. The Cast, they weren't too impressive except the Spider girl and Green goblin. Fighting and flying over you, definitely FUN! It is a perfect show to go see with your kids on one of those rainy weekends .

    Whistling the set

by TominNH on 2/7/11Foxwoods Theatre - New York

Great set and special effects -- greawt actors and actresses. The songs were good, but similar. The story kind of fizzles in act II -- they're working out the tech. Had to stop the show twice. But the production values are so good, it's worth it - kind of wasting a wonderful cast.

Story week, vocals so so, sets/acrobats awesome!

by Quincy56 on 2/7/11Foxwoods Theatre - New York

We didn't realize this was still in previews. The story wasn't so great, as were the vocals. We did enjoy all the flying around and the sets were great.

Stunts and sets cannot carry a show!!!! Theatre is about more than how much money you can put into the show. They should have thought about writing a decent book and score, instead of putting $65+ million into the spectacle. Highly disappointing and not worth the money. Very disinterested response from the audience as a whole - minimal scattered applause at best for each number.

    Do Not Waste Your Money!

by CTCommuter on 2/7/11Foxwoods Theatre - New York

I looked forward to the show but was awfully dissapointed overall. The show is great to look at and watch so I cannot fault that part of the show. The problems I had were that this is a musical and the story is told through the words of the songs. No one around us could even understand the actors when they sang....we all looked at each other with puzzled looks....not sure if the music was too loud and drowned out the actors or they just cannot sing clearly. Thus, you could not follow the story....all you keep saying is "what did they say?"..."did you understand that?". Also there were parts of the play that you go "why did they do that?" When the actors sang duets they were off key....I felt like I was on American Idol...the auditions! What does a song about shoes on a spider have to do with Spiderman?....There were many parents that brought little kids with them.....30-40 minutes into the show they are saying..."I'm bored...can we go now!" They had to leave....That says it all.

    Spiderman should be skipped

by Disappointedman on 2/7/11Foxwoods Theatre - New York

The plot is the same as the movies, what little they did add was not very good at all. The aerial stunts so hyped up get repetitive as they do the same motions constantly. this play runs way too long and is not worth the money to see it.

    Spiderman Rocks!

by Brich59 on 2/7/11Foxwoods Theatre - New York

SPIDERMAN WAS AMAZING! The show blew away all my expectations starting with the Great music, thanks to Bono and The Edge, and the Wonderful Performance as a whole! It had a Great storyline with fabulous acting and singing. The costumes and set designs were unbelievable and the high action thrill of the characters flying overhead was absolutely breathtaking! I am telling everyone that they must go and see for themselves because words cannot describe how incredible it was! I have seen a lot of Broadway shows and this one is by far my favorite!
