Excellent. My husband and I just loved it. The talent of these young singers and dancers were just incredible.
Enjoyed the show. Performers were very good and had wonderful voices.
Attending this show was like returning to the time when my parents met and fell in love. The music was great, and the cast did a fine job.
I bought my husband tickets as a Valentines day gift. He loves musicals and was very much looking forward to the show. We have always enjoyed most of the events we have seen at this venue. South Pacific however was a major disappointment. The main characters were the understudy's and did not command a decent performance. Emile had a very irritating voice and went back and forth between a French and Italian accent. Nellie just was so-so. They should continue their understudy work indefinitely. We left at intermission as the Theatre was FREEZING! Irregardless of the poor heating/cooling control we probably still would have left as we both were not enjoying the show at all. Major disappointment. and would have to give a lot of consideration before attending another show like this again. Also, did not like the smoking during the show (realizing this was accepted for the era it did not enhance the show).
We fully enjoyed South Pacific at the Auditorium Theater in Rochester, NY. We celebrated Mother's Day with my 85 year old Mom and loved listening to all that great music. We shared the experience with our 29 year old son- another exposure to live musical theater-wonderful.
This was well done keep up the good work. I will be going to more like this.
South Pacific was really lame and unpolished production. I could not understand most of the lines of the male lead. His accent was too thick.
This was the worst stage performance I have seen. The acting was better at the local high school performance. Could not understand the actors. The fellow playing the rich Frenchman was too self impressed with his voice and his accent was terrible. I could go on but you get the idea.
Wonderful!! Would see it again...I sang the songs all night long...
I was in South Pacific in high school so mostly went for old memories...but I really enjoyed the show. The songs are wonderful, the cast was superb and had great voices, and the dancing was great. Highly recommend and its family friendly too.
The performance was very exciting. The cast was excellent. Jennie Sophia blew me away. Her energy was intoxicating. I loved the performance and would see it again if it came back to Shea's.
Such a terrific Broadway play and movie but this performance really fell short. Time duration too long and the characters just didn't fit. The male lead was way too young with an accent that crossed between Italian and French - depending on the dialogue. Hard to understand at times. The female lead had a southern accent which didn't fit with the original character. The best part was the music - which I would have enjoyed by itself - minus the performance. Wouldn't recommend it.
I love going to the theatre and like all types of musicals/plays. I found South Pacific too long and it did not hold my attention. I almost left at the intermission. Would not recommend it.
Enjoyed the play - the only down side was the voice projection and enunciation of the male lead. Could not understand what was being said at times.
Tickets were a gift for my elderly mom, however I found the play to be very entertaining. Cast was fun to watch and really put energy into an old play. Great fun.
Sat under the balcony-forgot how tight the seating is. The woman next to me sang and hummed every song, the woman in front of me sat forward in her seat the whole play and blocked my view. The sound of the music through the speakers sounded like it was in a hollow can and the actors while very good seemed robotic in their interaction. Not a satisfying experience for the $65 seat.
I sent this message to Shea's on May 12th and never even receieved a letter back >> Comments: I have been to Shea's for many years and last night was a sorry >> excuse of a play that was a discredit to the Shea's Theatre and Buffalo, >> NY. Everyone at intermission was talking about the poor presentation of >> this play it was a chore to sit the> re till the end I have never >> experienced this. I would have rather donated the $160.00
I brought my grandma because she had mentioned that she would love to see it. Since she had introduced me to the musical when I was young, I knew the story and thought it would be great to take her. We both enjoyed in immensely. The cast was very talented and it was nice to share this experience with my grandma.
Excellent show!! Great voices and scenery. Would see it again.
