Excellent production--Hershey Theater put many big name venues to same in the upkeep and appearance of the building. Staff always had a smile and a thank you for you.

Perhaps the movie would be better?

    by Pammy1234 on 12/6/10Hershey Theatre - Hershey

Rogers and Hammerstein usually have wonderful musicals that have terrific music and great story lines. With all the accolades, I had always wanted to see South Pacific on stage. Unfortunately I have to admit that I was disappointed. The lead actress that played Nellie was absolutely fantastic, however she couldn't save the musical from its boring storyline. It's a slow moving musical with only a few great songs. Sadly those songs were in the beginning. With the running time of 3 hours, it was a very long performance at a very slow pace. Miss Saigon would be a better musical to see. I don't believe I will be seeing this again.

    SOUTH PACIFIC

by diagirl on 12/4/10Hershey Theatre - Hershey

This was a spectacular performance of one of my favorite plays. From the venue, Hershey Theater, to the set designs , to the actors and actresses it was a first class performance. My only disappointment was that the production was not sold out, the theater is so easily accessible and is surrounded by great restaurants so even mid- week ,it makes for a very memorable and romantic evening.

    The Best

by RolleyPoley on 12/2/10Hershey Theatre - Hershey

The music, scenery and choreography were first class. The voice of the male - lead was so strong, effortless and vibrant. When does the next boat leave for his South Pacific Island? We had watched a "South Pacific" performance from the Lincoln Center on PBS which I believe is the same "roadshow". As we all know, the dynamics of a live show in a theater is the best.

    Simply a Superb Production

by HugeCCRFan on 11/8/10The Benedum Center for the Performing Arts - Pittsburgh

This excellent 1949 musical by the masters, Rodgers & Hammerstein, was superbly performed in this Lincoln Center Theater Production! The singing of lead actor David Pittsinger, as Emile de Becque, was absolutely superb. His powerful bass-baritone voice was clear, strong and truly excellent. Lead actress Carmen Cusack, as Ensign Nellie Forbush, added a smooth, fantastic soprano voice. Their songs together were spellbinding. All of this was complemented by a tremendous cast of 31 with great acting performances and excellent singing. The set was clever and very appealing. The performance by the orchestra was great. All in all an excellent production of an excellent musical. As musicals and musical productions go, it truly does not get any better than this!
