Soulja Boy on Tour

When Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em released his 2007 debut single, “Crank That (Soulja Boy),” the 17-year-old rapper became an instant hit - and something of a viral pioneer. With its booming bass, slick snaps and steelpan loop, the song began blowing up flip phones (remember ringtones?) and its music video inspired millions to learn the Soulja Boy dance. But he’s proven to be far more than a flash-in-the-pan internet sensation. The Grammy-nominated artist still brings that infectious energy to the stage. In his early years, he learned from the best, touring alongside some of the biggest rappers in the biz, including Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, Rick Ross and Drake. Even after a stint in jail and the transition back to being an independent artist - releasing material on his own record label, Stacks on Deck Entertainment (SODMG) - Soulja Boy continues to bring in the crowds with appearances at major hip-hop events including The Millennium Tour 2021.

About Soulja Boy

Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em has been magnetic from the start, creating one of the 21st century’s biggest rap hits and funnest dance fads at age 17. It’s not easy to eclipse such a massive debut hit at such a young age, but the Chicago-born rapper has gone on to show he has far more snappy moves up his sleeve. Born DeAndre Cortez Way in 1990, the future star bounced from Chicago to Atlanta to Batesville, Mississippi, where he began making music and posting songs online. Within a few months of recording “Crank That” and releasing his first album, the aptly titled Unsigned & Still Major: Da Album Before Da Album, Way signed to Interscope Records and saw his self-produced song fly up to the top of the Billboard Hot 100. His major label debut, 2007’s Souljaboytellem.com, came out just over six months after “Crank That” first hit the web. Soulja Boy was nominated for Best Rap Song, but had plenty to live up to after that rapid rise to the top. He came through with a number of successful singles, including “Kiss Me Thru the Phone,” and “Pretty Boy Swag.” But he’s made just as much a name for himself as a producer, actor, fashion designer, video game console creator and prolific mixtape maker. He’s still a powerful force on social media, too, racking up well over a billion YouTube views.

DAY 26 was the best performance of the Night

    by Bterpcan28 on 7/15/09XL CENTER - Hartford

Soulja Boy's performance got cut short because there were too many gaps between acts. The kids were alittle disappointed.

by Mistique on 7/15/09XL CENTER - Hartford

The line up was awsome! I loved the way the DJ kept it going in between each act. I felt like I was clubing. The artist were great especially Jeremiah, Day 26 & Bow Wow. I would recommend this event to ALL my friends.

Bow Wow did a good show

by mvrugg on 7/15/09XL CENTER - Hartford

I was pleasantly surprised with Bow Wow- he had the most energy- the best performance. I don't think Soulja Boy should have done the shoot em up song with young kids in the audience. He has enough songs out that he could have chosen another song. I felt that song was inappropriate. They messed up on Fabolous' music or else he would have had a good show too. A lot of entertainers under one roof. Good value.

HOT JAM 8- For the younger crowd....

by VeeJay on 7/14/09XL CENTER - Hartford

I brought my daughter and her friend to the concert. They seemed to have a great time - enjoying much of the show. However, considering my age and expectations, the show was OK. The best part of the show for me was Bow Wows performance. He is, in my opinion, a true performer. For much of the show the sound system was crappy or it over powered the performers. It seemed for the most part that many of them simply danced to their music, on stage. Soulja Boy's performance was good as well. While I am a fan of Day 26, their performance was disappointing - again - due to the loud music and poor sound system.

    Hot Jam 8 was awsome

by JBates on 7/14/09XL CENTER - Hartford

I thought that it was great. I just thought that one of the people who came out took way to long to just do their set and it went a half hour to long. overall I would recommend all who are hip-hop/R&B fans to make time to go to this show when it comes around next year and to make tie to go jingle jam if it happens this year. you won't be dissapointed

    To Loud

    by mayo41 on 7/14/09XL CENTER - Hartford

DAy 26 was drowned out by the music. Bow Wow and Soulja Boy didn't do enough. As for Bow Wow dissing Ciara, it's time for him to grown up and get over it. the diss was unnecessary.

    Cold Jam

by Meggrs on 7/14/09XL CENTER - Hartford

Very disappointing that the headliner was cut off during his performance. One artist never made the stage & all the audio problems put a huge damper on the show. Day 26 was great, Drake was awesome, Trey Songs, jeremiah & Bow wow were amazing, but we only herad 1/2 of what soulja boy tel em was going to perform. With the money these tickets cost I expected more
