About

With 10 Tony® nominations including Best Musical, SOMETHING ROTTEN! is a “big, fat hit!” (New York Post). Set in the ‘90s – the 1590s – this hilarious smash tells the story of Nick and Nigel Bottom (Tony® nominee Rob McClure and Broadway’s Josh Grisetti), two brothers who are desperate to write their own hit play while the “rock star” Shakespeare (Tony® nominee Adam Pascal) keeps getting all the hits. When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theatre involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first MUSICAL! With its heart on its ruffled sleeve and sequins in its soul, SOMETHING ROTTEN! is “The Producers + Spamalot + The Book of Mormon. Squared!” (New York Magazine).

    High Energy Fun

    by DCD2212 on 2/11/19Centennial Hall - Tucson

What a fun night! Not a serious moment but lots of laughs! Lots of tap dancing. Good performances. They gave their all and enjoyed every moment. Definitely not a tired bus and truck tour! I watched a bunch of you tube videos of the original Broadway cast and some of our cast was better and everyone had more energy! One of the best touring shows I've seen! Monty Python meets Shakespeare!

    The acoustics are poor

by ValleyGal on 2/11/19Centennial Hall - Tucson

Songs and lyrics that move the story line along cannot be understood in this theater. The acoustics are not sharp or clear enough and the audience misses out on what is being sung. The artists are not at fault, it is the fault of the theater and their acoustical engineering and equipment. Maybe it is the theater design, I dunno. But I lost the story line whenever dialogue and story line was sung.

    Something rotten tour

by Jem on 2/11/19Centennial Hall - Tucson

The show is funny, entertaining With a very clever story line! The actors are superb, singing is amazing and the dance numbers, especially the tap dancing, are the most fun I’ve seen in a theater in some time. I was singing the tunes all night! Go see this show!

Fun at first, tedious over time

by AzAnn on 2/10/19Centennial Hall - Tucson

First half was fun, especially fir those who love musicals and Shakespeare. Second half was more tiresome and stale. It would have been better as a one act play. All in all, it was enjoyavke, but far from great.

    Hilarious, laugh-filled evening!

by Cactus Queen on 2/10/19Centennial Hall - Tucson

I haven't laughed this long or hard at a show in a long time! I LOVE Broadway musicals and laughed through all the references to shows peppered in the play. The performers were all great - I didn't detect one weak performance at all in the show (which sometime does happen.) And miracle of miracles (wink, wink) the sound at Centennial Hall was very good - which was an anomaly. I hope this means that they have done some kind of upgrade on the sound system there. If you like Shakespeare, love Broadway - this is the show for you!

    Laughed the entire time

by Tuancho on 2/10/19Centennial Hall - Tucson

What a witty, hilarious show for adults. If you know your Broadway and you know your Shakespeare, then you will be in for a treat! The songs were excellent and the story fun. Slap yes, but entertaining most definitely. I would highly recommend.

    A pretty funny show

by Stagename on 2/10/19Centennial Hall - Tucson

This is a seriously funny show and if you’ve ever seen a Broadway musical, this show pays tribute to many familiar hits. The cast is entertaining though not as strong as the first national tour, but as my husband said they really seem to be having a blast on stage. When this comes to your hometown do not miss it! Production values at Centennial Hall are always great and we had a marvelous time.

    Even nosebleeds were great

by Marzabella on 2/9/19Centennial Hall - Tucson

The play was funny, well acted, dung and choreographed. Way up in the mezzanine we had no trouble seeing or hearing. My only complaint would be the lack of leg room and the uncomfortable seats. The play made those minor issues.

Loved, loved, loved the entire production

by Dr. Bob on 2/9/19Centennial Hall - Tucson

"Something Rotten" was a "hoot." It was wonderful from beginning to end. My only criticism would be the sound system leaves a lot to be desired in the theater. When there was dialog, it was difficult to understand..... I would have given the show 5 stars if I could have heard the dialog better!!!

Great! I loved the musical. The one liners and innuendos w

by Deb on 2/9/19Centennial Hall - Tucson

I had not been in UA’s Centennial Hall since college. It has not changed much but is still quite elegant, and the sound system was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. Something Rotten is so clever and fun. When my mom finished watching it, she wanted to see it again. She wanted to catch more of the one liners. What a great evening!

    Not Rotten

by Lunda on 2/9/19Centennial Hall - Tucson

Well acted. Well sung. Well danced. First half very fun and playful. Loved Shakespeare and Portia! Plot repetitive and boring after a while.

Something Rotten was well worth the time and money. What a fun, silly, feel-good show! The cast was fantastic, sets were clever, and the dialogue was funny. We had a great time. My only complaint would be with the Theater. It was freezing inside!!!!!

    Lots of Laughs

by G. on 2/7/19San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San Jose

This is a really fun show, especially for anyone who is a musical comedy buff. It is laced with both verbal and physical (visual) references to musicals you recognize instantly. It was occasionally hard to hear/understand the actors but that was probably the venue and "mic" issues rather than the actors. Overall great fun and I am so glad I went.

    Great show!

by Ben F Tarsitano on 2/6/19San Jose Center for the Performing Arts - San Jose

I thoroughly enjoyed “Something Rotten”! It was easy to follow and the music was fantastic. The characters danced well and their voices were wonderful. The play on words made it hysterical. Some of the lines went by so fast that I will be forced to see it again. It is far more entertaining than the pathetic Super Bowl.
