So You Think You Can Dance Live! on Tour

As the name implies, the ‘So You Think You Can Dance' Live! tour is an extension of the long-running Fox TV series. Each year, top contestants from the show's most recent season go on the road and perform in front of live audiences. At these gigs, ‘SYTYCD' fans can expect the usual mix of inventive, high-quality choreography and solo and group spotlights. The format of the tour allows dancers to stretch out physically and emotionally, and to show off their unique personalities, which makes the night a resonant one. For the 2018 tour, the Top 10 finalists from Season 15 — including winner Hannahlei Cabanilla, a contemporary dance enthusiast from Orange County, California, and season runner-up Jensen Arnold — are hitting the road to show off their best moves, under the choreographic guidance of the Emmy-winning Mandy Moore. 

About So You Think You Can Dance Live! Tour

Just as ‘American Idol' and ‘The Voice' have helped aspiring musicians launch a career, the judged competition ‘So You Think You Can Dance' has done the same for dancers. Contestants from the show, which premiered in 2005, have gone on to become professional actors and actresses, choreographers, and backup dancers for pop stars. ‘SYTYCD' itself has also become known for its innovative dance routines to popular music, and is a perennial Primetime Emmy winner, particularly in the Outstanding Choreography category.

The show's sterling track record is a testament to the stunning pool of talent on display during each season. ‘SYTYCD' doubles as a spotlight showcase for promising dancers specializing in various styles (hip-hop, jazz, contemporary), who then show off their best moves via group, pair, and individual dance performances. Each week, judges whittle down the field of competitors, before crowning one person the winner. After the season ends, the ‘So You Think You Can Dance' Live! tour gives top contestants a chance to strut their stuff in real life, up close and personal in front of the show's many, many fans.

    Positivies: Dancngt ws absolutely great. All I'd hoped it would be. Brandon's solo was phenomenal! Fast paced show. Great timing. Good humor. Negatives: Way, way too loud and glitzy. Seemed at times like an infomercial for the show, which was not necessary. Too many judges' comments thrown in. I did not need to hear the recap of what each judge said about a particular dance. The dances speak for themselves!!!!! Very glad I went. Dancing met my high expectations. The rest of the show did not.

    This years show blew last years away. It had humor, emotion, and great use of fillers throughout. The perormances were so good, i was sad when it was over. Having philip there was a great addition and he was used so well. im so upset its over and would recomend it to everyone. Its great to have such a good show that people of all ages can attend.

    The show was phenomenal! All of the dancers were wonderful....extremely talented....and overall just fabulous! I would highly recommend this show to anyone....definitely a must see!!

    I so enjoyed this event! The dancers repeated many of the dances they performed on the show, but it was much more amazing seeing it live! Their hard work payed off and it obvious they love what they do. I appreciated them thanking their fans for their support. Their thanks and appreciation seemed genuine.

    Was expecting more than a rehash of all the routines I already saw on the show. Too much talking, too little dancing and not enough new material. Dancers are fantastic but I already watched the show, I didn't need to see it again.

    The dancers did a great job! It was non-stop fun! There is a single intermission and the total show was over 2.5 hours. The flow of the show was good and I'd definitely go again.

    The show was terrific. I loved seeing all the dancers up close and personal. I liked the fact that they all shared the hosting duties so we could get to know them a little better. They did some favorite routines from the competition, and they had some new routines too. The Russian Folk Dancing bit was funny, and then to our surprise, so good! The only downside to the show was that the music was too loud. It could have been toned down a little bit and still have been fine. It was especially too loud during the Romeo and Juliette routine.

    The show was absolutely amazing to watch. You couldn't tell that it had only been there second show, which means they did an amazing job well done. The dancers totally looked like they were enjoying themselves and really got into the show as much as the audience was. They showcased the best dances that were shown throughout the season. The costumes that they used in each dance were awesome! They used a lot of the same costumes from the actually show but they updated them more, for the best. They were extremely colorful and were eye catching for the audience. I would've liked to see a few more group dances but the group dances that they did decide to perform were hands down the best.
