Sleater-Kinney on Tour
Sleater-Kinney's The Center Won't Hold is the first new album from the celebrated band since their 2015 album, No Cities To Love, available August 16 on Mom + Pop. After years of legendary collaboration, rock'n'roll giants Carrie Brownstein (guitar/vocals) and Corin Tucker (guitar/vocals) sound bigger and bolder than ever. The new album was produced by Annie Clark (St. Vincent), and hailed by The FADER as "one of the most furious, dynamic records of their career." The New York Times called them "one of rock's most enduring and respected acts" and Rolling Stone gave the record 4 stars and raved, "one of America's greatest bands does battle with modern apathy on thrilling LP."
Sleater-Kinney in Concert
Sleater-Kinney set a new bar for punk's political insight and emotional impact. Now, at the height of their formidable powers, the feminist icons continue to challenge themselves, break all the rules and push boundaries. This new creative chapter in the acclaimed band's musical journey is poised to win over both longtime admirers and new fans alike.
Sleater-Kinney was the best show I've seen in years.
They were amazing! They've been amazing for over two decades. I never thought I would see them live, but I've seen them twice since they've been back and I don't regret a second of it. A+ performers and musicians. And they're awesome to their fans!
I have waited 20 odd years to see sleater kinney play live. It was well worth it. With a mix of old music plus songs off thier brilliant new album it was a great night.
What can I say about this show?!?! Hard to believe, but I think they sounded better than when they first started. They were so together and in sync. The opening act, THEESatisfaction, really got the crowd moving. I will be looking for more out of them. From start to finish, Sleater-Kinney brought it. It was loud in the best way possible - the kind of loud you feel vibrating in your chest loud. I am so glad they are back together!
Absolute mind blowing!!!! Wish I could go to all their shows
Sleater-Kinney put on a seriously rocking show at The Pageant. They were very energetic throughout the whole performance, which consisted of a great mixture of songs from their whole catalog, including a couple rarely played songs. I would definitely recommend anyone to go to one of their shows. You won't be sorry!
Been listening to Sleater-Kinney for 15 years and finally was able to see them in NC. Such an amazing show. I would say one of the best I ever been right there with Death Cab for Cutie. Janet was awesome on the drums. she was like a powerhouse. Carrie had some sweet footwork rocking out and Corin, had sweet vocals. always loved hearing her voice.
I saw Sleater Kinney last in 1994 at the old 0930 club in DC. Bought tickets for this show on a whim. They are better today than when they were kids!. All the more amazing after a 10 year hiatus. The guitar work was technical, driving and consistent. There is no regular bass player in this group but you wouldn't know it. If you are into drums Janet Weiss plays like Ginger Baker or Carmine Appice from back in the day. You won't find a better indie/punk show today. Best $35 I have spent in this century.
The show was very good with a lot of 70's style rock theatrics. I wasn't that familiar with the band's music or members (except Carrie Brownstein via Portlandia) and went primarily because I'd read reviews of them and thought they would be interesting to see. I've been going to concerts since 1971 and I can tell you that the Sleater-Kinney show is worth attending, if for no reason other than to see their drummer, Janet Weiss. She was a revelation and one of the best drummers I've ever seen; I think I watched her for 95% of the concert (I was in the 2nd level looking down and had a great view). She hits "Bonham-hard" and really gives the band a power and ferocity that I think most drummers would struggle to achieve. Absolutely amazing drummer and easily in the top ten I've ever seen, maybe top five.
Sleater Kinney rocked it! One song after another with little in between banter. The gals are in fine form! Miss this at your own risk
I have been listening to Slester Kinney since I was 14. So it was amazing to see them on this tour. They played a good combo of old and new music.
These ladies made my life complete! They put on a high intensity show of awesome from start to finish!
I've been waiting for this concert for years. They exceeded all of the high expectations I had of them. Carrie and Corin sounded amazing, and Janet is, in my opinion, one of the best drummers out there today. I'm so glad they're back out there doing their thing.
Great show. S-K played an amazing encore and kept the audience enthralled throughout their entire performance.
see S-K live if you can. so so great. i wouldn't fill this weird review thing out if i didnt love the band an extreme amount.
Amazing show - they sounded better than the last time I saw them years ago. Energy, sound, presence, this show was EVERYTHING. Lizzo was an incredible opener, the right spirit and the right atmosphere. Great show, if you weren't there you missed out.
A solid, killer show. Nonstop and a great mix of old and new.
I've loved them FOREVER and it was my first time seeing them. They did not disappoint! They sounded amazing and played a great set list. Wish they would come back again :)
Sleater Kinney was incredible. It's great to see performers playing real instruments and using real drums and actual voices. Guitar rock/post-punk sounds so wonderful compared to all the processed music out there.
i have been a huge sleater-kinney fan since i was 14 years old after a family friend gave me a riot grrrl mix cd with "sold out" on it. since i grew up in a small texas town i never had the privilege or money to see them as a kid. all this to say i waited a LOOOOOOOOONG time for this show and it did not disappoint. at all. it was beautiful and life-changing. everything was perfect. the mix of old and new songs. the energy. the sound. the performance. i don't even have words to describe the flawless execution of music performed by these talented people. they were SO good i bought tickets to see them in dallas and pittsburgh. the crowd was a bit limp, but that's probably cuz I was dancing like i was alone in my bedroom. i went with a group of 8 people with varying knowledge of S-K and they were all completely floored. lizzo was pretty amazing too. i am a hip-hop fan, but the crowd of aging riot grrrls didn't seem too impressed. it seemed like a weird opener choice, but i had a good time dancing to her stuff.
