About

"To be honest my vibe gets killed the most when I'm concentrating too much on what is around me and thinking too much about it all," Moore states. "I have the most fun when I let my inhibitions check out, right at that point things just start to happen."

It started to go well for Sonny when he filtered out the noise and distraction of his world as a solo artist and started mining the ephemeral moments he had been sharing with friends in clubs and parties across the city he calls home since his mid-teen years. The restless, urgent and kaleidoscopic sounds of EDM and bass music had spoken to him for the best part of a decade, one day he just started talking back.

"Making music is the same as DJing," he offers. "You continue along the path that leaves you most inspired. When you think too much you put limits on what is possible, the best parts are always instinctual rather than something too considered or planned out."

Never felt so much bass in my life. The show was top notch, had a great stage as well.

  • SKRILLEX!!!

the set was awesome though the reggae between sets threw me off definitely a huge genre clash. Also! 3.75 for a cup of water?? WTF? i guess next time i'll just get dehydrated because of the ridiculous price, either that or take my chances getting roofied. skrillex killed it and made my night though regardless

Great show. Openers were good. Skrillex was really good. He played tons of new tracks and remixes of classic 90's hits. Definitely recommended.

  • most amazing visuals i have ever seen.

by Anonymous on 10/27/11Showbox SODO - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

most headliners go for 45-1.5hr..... skrillex went on and on for 2hrs on stage! what really blew my mind was that he had a 3d frame built into his jacket so everything he did was mirrored by a 25ft projection on the stage behind him, the tech team used several different techno style skins with various visuals to match. and the set list was amazing. almost everything off his album was played, mixed and remixed then more was added in thats never been released. he really knows how to work the crowd too. all in all id say the bang for the buck i've ever spent on a concert. $41 got me 4.5hrs of glory and fun.

  • Badass show!

by Spunkfly on 10/27/11Showbox SODO - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

Skrillex was great, super energetic and talking to the audience while performing awesome mashups of his songs and showing off some new stuff he's working on. LOVED the Kinect integration that showed a CG person on the screen, moving as he moved. Very cool effect and I love that he's so techie. 12th Planet was also a good opener, played some great dubstep classics and mixed it up a little, pretty talented guy. I did not get a chance to see Nadastrom or Two Fresh because I was too busy drinking at the bars, haha. I'm generally not a fan of the WaMu Theater because the bars are so far from the stage and the whole area is almost too big to navigate easily. And I was honestly bummed he got switched from Showbox SoDo, because the bar there is awesome and spans an entire wall length along the side. But I get it, he's popular, more people wanted to see him, and the WaMu Theater was the most logical "big" alternative besides Key Arena, so it was fine. The audience took advantage of the space and it really added to the atmosphere.

  • Skirllex good, ticketmaster & wamu theater bad

The show was awesome. Great visuals including a real-time rendering of Skrillex's movements as a giant video game style avatar.

  • Skrillex in Seattle

    by islandgirl21 on 10/27/11WaMu Theater - SeattleRating: 4 out of 5

This show was pretty dang fun! The only part I was disappointed with was the age allowance... I don't really like to feel like I'm at a rave with a bunch of minors that are dressed in their bras and panties or straight up T strings with TOOTOOS.... Other than that I was impressed by the show; each time he dropped he had complete control of the crowd. Definitely want to see him again.

  • EPIC! Skrillex was not to be missed!

by lilfiend on 10/27/11WaMu Theater - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

Showed up an hour early and there was already a huge line, but mad did it get bigger, sat through a couple crappy bands before 12th planet came on, was ok but he played a lot of other peoples music, skrillex finally got on around 10:30, stayed on till about midnight, was epic from start to finish. Didn't get to go to the after party but watched some youtube videos of it, looked like 12th planet and skrillex tore it up.

  • Skrillex bass rattled my bones

by jcallen on 10/27/11WaMu Theater - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

I'm not into dance music but I got turned onto Skrillex from the Red camera forum and was blown away by the massive aggressive tones. The sound at WaMu was amazing (all the acts gave shout-outs to the sound company for "bringing the bass") and it made my nose buzz and my clothes vibrate. It was massive without being ear-piercing, somehow, and my ears weren't ringing after the show, even without putting earplugs in. The visuals were great too - with projectors lighting up the geometric stage set, and a real-time motion captured giant cyber bot following Skrillex's every motion. The song set was varied and interesting, and Skrillex returned to some of his best hooks multiple times throughout the set. And as an added boner, I mean bonus, the female flesh on display was ridiculous.

Something about the music that just makes me wanna keep on dancing despite my muscles being over-exhausted already.

  • Not mind blowing but fun

by Anonymous on 10/27/11Showbox SODO - SeattleRating: 4 out of 5

Opening acts were ridiculously underrated. I had a great time with Nadastrom's driving beats and Two Fresh's chill live set (which really set the mood). 12th Planet was the perfect opener for Skrillex. Heavy set, good mix of current dubstep & 12th Planet originals. Dropped the Dirtyphonic's Remix of Song Of Sirens (Dan Sena and Del the Funky Homosapian) and it was dope. Skrillex makes amazing music. But I don't think he plays it very well live. Don't get me wrong, his stage presence was amazing and The Skrillex Cell was damned cool, BUT letting Scary Monsters build up all the way and drop THREE times? Mashed up with the remix of Nero's Promises TWICE!? Promises was actually sampled or mashed 4+ times in one hour and a half set. Not to say at all that it wasn't fun, but there could have been a bit more variety (I know Sonny has more songs than what he played live, there was no reason to double dip (quadruple dip) so much, even if he did have to play again later at the afterparty).

I didnt know if i was going to like the WAMU because i have never been there before, but let me tell you they did a great job setting up for Skrillex. He put on such a great show, i plan on going to see him every time he is in Seattle just hope its at the WaMu again.

Seriously the best concert I've ever been to. AMAZING.

  • The wave of dubstep will get you!

by Abagofskittles on 10/27/11WaMu Theater - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

This show was just flat out ridiculous. The energy and enthusiasm of the crowd was awesome. Skrillex was very involved with the audience and got us to do some things that were very creative. The openers 12th planet and too fresh we're a lot of fun too. Got the crowd head bumpin and dancing. Just an epic amount of fun.

  • Pretty Awesome
