About

SIX is the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical that tells the story of the six wives of Henry VIII — reimagining the Tudor queens as powerful pop divas. Led by an all-female cast, SIX presents the queens as pop stars, with each recounting their story while channeling modern pop acts as they make the case for who was dealt the worst hand. SIX was written by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss when the two were studying at Cambridge University. By the summer of 2017, SIX was being staged at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland. After a sold-out run on London’s West End, SIX premiered on Broadway in October 2021 (with Moss becoming the youngest female director working on a Broadway musical). The herstory musical was an immediate hit, with The New York Times noting how the pop production “totally rules,” and The Washington Post hailing SIX as “exactly the kind of energizing, inspirational illumination this town aches for.”

    six review-

by Laur on 5/8/23Lena Horne Theatre - New York

very short and disappointed in show., even though the singers were very talented. It was more of a concert than a Broadway show. very expensive for a concert and very few songs. Almost no story. I have seen many Broadway shows and this was clearly one that. I would not recommend.

    Talented Singers, Disappointing Material

by VenySF on 5/6/23Lena Horne Theatre - New York

Didn’t know much about the play going in, so I assumed it was a traditional musical about the six wives of Henry the VIII. Turns out it is more of a pop music revue that uses the story as a flimsy framing device. In actuality, the six characters are based on real-life contemporary pop stars, so most of the references were lost on me. That being said, the quality of the singing was quite high, and the performers had a surplus of charisma. The women seemed to be picked more for musical talent than dance moves , so the choreography was mediocre. I am not a fan of slick, modern pop, music, but if you are, this show is for you. If you come expecting a full-fledged musical with interesting historical context, a la Hamilton, you will be disappointed.

    Fun but not groundbreaking

by Sarah on 5/4/23Lena Horne Theatre - New York

I enjoyed the show and it was a fun and light watch. I wished there was more set changes and intricacy but if what you want are singing solos and girl power on one set that's what you'll get.

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! The show was truly SO well done! Every aspect was AMAZING!!! The actresses and instrumentalists were all so talented, the costuming and lighting were phenomenal and meaningful, the choreography and stage directions all had purpose, and their attitudes during the performance were never lacking! SIX out of 5 stars!!

by Jotan17 on 5/2/23Lena Horne Theatre - New York

They were great, show was great! Theater staff needed to be better at seating people and getting them inside. But show was spectacular. Especially Anne of Cleves (4th wife)

Thoroughly enjoyed the performance of Six. An 80min no interval musical, with a quality star and excellent vocals. Loved the mix of fun and comedy. All round - great. Also seats were at the back but had a superb view and great legroom for my husband. Recommended
