  • Laughter is the best holiday gift!

by geniusoftheworld on 12/27/14City Theatre - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

What a wonderful show from beginning to end! Sister Nonie Newton Riley makes the audience the star. When she brought audience members on stage to play the characters in the pageant of the First Nativity, the whole hall went up for grabs. Haven't laughed so hard in years. Makes no difference if you went to Catholic school and had nuns for teachers, or not-- you'll love this nun. Yes, she picks on audience members, and plays the role of the strict Sister/teacher- but does it with such a warm heart and good humor, everybody walks out at the end with a big smile. The perfect way to get in the mood for the holiday! And you may learn something, too!

This show was great. I have seen this before and several other of the Sister play's and they are always great. The actress who played the nun is my favorite. I took my brother and sister in law to the play and they really enjoyed it. Anyone who went to catholic school should see these plays. You are right back in the classroom.

Absolutely great!!! This is the second one I've seen and both have been fabulous. I sent my 3 children and their spouses to the first one -- Sister's Late Nite Catechism back a few years ago as they went to 12 years of Catholic School. They loved it. This Sister was amazing. She never faltered or seemed to be at a loss for words (that's an understatement). So funny, especially being Catholic the things said and done were so very realistic. Especially, about the gum chewing. My husband was chewing gum in school and the nun put it in his hair!!! Sister really knew how to interact with the audience. Loved, loved, loved it!!

  • Sister's Christmas Catechism - HILLARIOUS

by Yorkhelm on 12/17/14City Theatre - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

I took my family of 10 for our annual Christmas outing and Sister's Christmas Catechism was an excellent choice. My son was called up to stage because he had the birthday closest to Christmas and the banter between him and Sister was priceless. Then my grandson actually played the very important part of The Little Drummer Boy in the Nativity. I laughed so hard I cried. Yes, I definitely recommend Sister's Christmas Catechism!

  • Still afraid of Nuns!

by Bigoguy on 12/17/14City Theatre - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

Third time I've seen "Late Night", loved the play, each of the three different shows have been wonderful performances, this was also. After 12 years of Catholic education, 50+years ago, I still fear nuns. She was very convincing and old nightmares came to life again, but I love it! Loved City Theater! Loved that it shares same building as Hockey Town! Pre-paid parking in lots 1&2 were well worth it for $15 as Lions parking was $35 for the same spots at the same time! I'm sure I will attend other performances at City theater. Only drawback/complaint I have is that there was only entrance to theater was thru ONE ticket taker and resulted in very slow entry!

  • Catechism is a fun show to be sure

A great show for those with a catholic background, but funny to anyone.

  • Just ok.

First half of show was funny, nicely paced. Second half kind of dragged. I think I wasn't happy because I ordered these tickets months ago when show announced. Thought I ordered front row because all the seats were available. Imagine my surprise when we were sat in last row. Theater in Chicago more intimate.

  • Funny

    by CAP99 on 12/14/14City Theatre - DetroitRating: 3 out of 5

We all laughed a lot. I'm sure each show is different as there was a lot of alibiing. It got a bit slap stick near the end, but all in all it was funny and a nice experience. The SIster did a good job with her jokes and the audience. We also enjoyed the Christmas carrolls.

  • A very fun evening!

    by Patty52 on 12/14/14City Theatre - DetroitRating: 4 out of 5

This one woman show (with help from the audience :) was terrific. I felt like I was right back in Catholic school for awhile. LOL I remembered a lot but also learned a few things too. Sister was very very funny and interacted so well with the audience. A fun evening for all, even if you are not Catholic.

  • Sister sizzles!

by BridgeBuff on 12/26/13Lincoln Theatre - COLUMBUSRating: 5 out of 5

I purchased the tickets to this production for my husband and college-age son, having no idea what to expect. We were totally surprised at the audience-participation format, and completely delighted with the entire show! None of us could remember when we have laughed so hard! We have already recommended to our friends to see this show if they get the opportunity.
