Great show, I'll be seeing them again when the come back to Detroit.
This band has staying power, they bring the energy like the MC5 back in the day. The sound was a little muffled but not lacking in enthusiasm and intent. Chick drummer outstanding. Whole band tight and Jim and Charlie know how to assemble players. Love this band. Welcome back in the D anytime, bringin’ the goods. staff at Fillmore on it! Kudos all around ....only blunder, was told there was opener on phone, erroneous, band went on at 8 without one so missed first song. So tune into that
Band is tight. Jim's voice is great. If you're a fan of Simple Minds, of whatever era, just go. Bring your kids. The show is amazing and you'll be on Cloud 9 for weeks. If you're even just a fan of the era or the style, just go. You'll be amazed at the power and energy of the performance and enthusiasm of the fans. This tour is remarkable too because they are doing two sets and an encore. GET TICKETS! You will not be disappointed.
Excellent concert at the Fillmore! Jim Kerr still has the moves and voice. Great sound.
Good sound. Band was very energetic. Video background was a little old style. Pixelated. Could upgrade given todays technology. Glad they finally came back to Michigan.
Fantastic show, Simple Minds sounded as good as the first time I saw them in the 80’s. Jim Kerr abosoultly winderful! Thank you Simple Minds for a beautiful night.
Great experience. The band were very gracious and the performance was beyond expectations!
The show was totally awesome. I had best time seeing 80 bands. Lot energy. It made feel 22 yrs old again would recommend show
over 2 hours of simple minds... first a 60 minute set... then 15 minute break... then about an hour & 20 minutes more! new songs - old songs - video & movie hits... could have done without the 2 cover songs but oh well...
Simple Minds gives a GREAT and UNFORGETTABLE show experience. Traveled from North Carolina just to see them. And the Ryman always delivers for quality of sound and experience. I will be seeing Simple Minds 2 more times on the US tour and will always come back to the Ryman for future events.
The venue was super nice, clean, and very safe. The crowd was really into the show. The band sounded phenomenal!!! They said they were a little under the weather with the flu but I don't think it affected their performance. Glad I finally got to see them after all these years!!! Hope they will come back through again soon!!! I missed them having a full time keyboardist the backing tracks/sequencing did a good job but would have liked to see Andy Gillespie back there playing!!!! Maybe they'll bring him back!!! Cheers to all and thanks for one helluva show/evening!!!
I traveled 3 1/2 hours to see Simple Minds! The show and atmosphere were some of the best out of the hundred or so concerts I have attended! Great job to Hard Rock and Simple Minds!
Waited many years. Band performance was stellar despite illness. Most impressive was engagement with audience. Great frontman in Jim Kerr
Everything about this event was classy! The meet and greet and the soundcheck were amazing and showed how much Simple Minds look to their fans for energy and how much they give back. The band put on a legendary performance covering a huge portion of their career.
Excellent!!! Band rocked, great time! Venue great and ushers were wonderful and helpful. Can't say enough good stuff.
Simple Minds put on a great show! The energy and enthusiasm is amazing, and they give it all they have. The new drummer, Cherisse Osei, is fantastic. She very nearly steals being the star of the show from Jim Kerr. (He is the lead singer, and co-founder, with guitarist Charlie Burchill). Jim and Charlie have been playing music together in Simple Minds for over 40 years, but yet it still looks like gghey are having the time of their lives.
Terrific show. Felt like 1985 all over again! His voice is excellent still. Two sets! Played everything! Great show.
We did have an isssue with dinner and it seemed forever to get our food. The venue was great as well as a great show!
My wife bought me tickets to see one of my favorite high school bands for my 48th birthday. I missed seeing Simple Minds in my younger years, so when I heard they were coming to the Tower Theater I was eager to purchase tickets. My wife purchased the soundcheck package. The band played three songs and took questions in between each. This mini concert was held for about 40 of us and I was out of my mind to be so close to a band that saw my through the turbulent high school years. When Jim Kerr took my question first, I didn't think the night could go any higher. Then they closed the soundcheck with an AMAZING version of BOOK OF BRILLIANT THINGS. I took my third row seats and was in awe first of being so close to one of my childhood idols, and second, at the chops of their drummer. She was effortless and raw. A birthday to remember.
