This was just a fantastic concert. They sounded great and they are still as good as ever. Sang their hits as well as many other songs...totally into making it an enjoyable evening for the audience. They took a break between two sets and performed for two hours. The venue is interesting, but you have to be prepared for sitting close at the Ryman.
This was the second time I've seen Simple Minds and it was the best yet. They always put on a great show. They have this way of making songs over 30 years old seem fresh and new. Jim Kerr is a great front man. I've loved this band since their early days and I couldn't miss them perform at the historic Ryman Auditorium.
No shortage of their hits spanning the last 35+ years. The entire catalogue holds up still to this day. The new music is fresh & relevant while holding true to Simple Minds. A concert experience that doesn't disappoint!
It was a terrific show!! The band was great, enthusiastically playing their hits from the past as well as several great newer songs. The crowd was terrific too although it was smaller than I had thought it would be. I hope Simple Minds returns soon!
Sounded great , lots of audience participation. Wasn't too familiar with them before, now a huge fan!
An awesome band! An unforgettable experience. A must see
Very good concert. One of the best we have seen in years. Would go again if they return to the area.
This was a great show. The drummer was very entertaining. Two sets, well over two hours long. The only thing I didn't like was the pre-recorded music that was added.
The band should come back to area more often We hope they return again soon
My wife and I splurged for one of our favorite bands she never saw and I only saw once in 1985. The meet and greet will be a memory we'll being talking about forever. Run professionally, the private 3 song sound check with Q&A between songs provided a new appreciation for everyone in the band. The show was AMAZING. Despite me and my mates off-key singing to every word, we could not help but to be transported back in time to a simpler life, dancing was easier and I looked and felt better. Reliving one's youth at a Simple Minds show can be revitalizing. After seeing the show, the wife and I decided to go to the Orlando show in a few weeks for one last glimpse of Simple Minds. if you are thinking about going, get tickets and GO!! So, so good! Don't you forget about me...
It appeared to me that although the band was playing, they were playing over a sound track. It stood out when they got off timing; especially the lead guitarist. It was still entertaining and they put on a good show.
Two great sets!! Wish I could have heard Charlies guitar better. Seemed a bit muted. Other than that the show was very good. Lots of energy from the crowd! Please don't wait 20+ years to come back Atlanta! Have a great tour!
Let me start with the fact that seeing Simple Minds has been on my "to see" list forever. I didn't even know they were coming to Atlanta til 3 days before the show, and still got tickets for $49.50 each. IT WAS A MAGICAL NIGHT! GREAT crowd that fed off of the AMAZING 2 & 1/2 hour bombardment of (what seemed like) every song in Simple Mind's past as it built to a frenzied joyful finish. Simple Mind songs are some of the most emotionally driven songs that i know of; and Jim Kerr & company seemed touched by fan involvement all night long. SUPER, SUPER show!! Thank God i said, "screw it, i'm going!". Haha! And Simple Minds did this despite a very poor job at the soundboard. To no fault of the guys on stage, the acoustics of The Tabernacle were AWFUL. When Kerr was talking to the audience, i only caught parts of it. Same for the lead guitar solos and background vocals. This was my first AND LAST concert at The Tabernacle in Atlanta. But i do hope to see Simple Minds again-----THANKS guys for a fun, memorable time!!!!!
Finally got to see one of my favorite bands live. They did not disappoint. Great venue as well!
Waited many years to see Simple Minds live and I was not disappointed. Terrific talent and energy by the band. Played about 2 1/2 hours divided between 2 sets. No one can say they did not deliver a great bang for the buck. Can't wait to see them next time around.
Great performance by a band I have known of for 25 years. Lots of new members, but they performed great. The lead guitarist I believe was original member and was awesome. Lead vocalist was great as he was in the 80s. Female drummer was excellent. Venue was century old mega church with bar and bathrooms near. Couldn't really ask for more.
Great show,! Played two sets which easily totaled 2 hours. Was one of those concerts that you felt the band made sure you got what you paid for!
Jim Kerr kinda forgot his audience on the upper level and I think he had his personal fan club in front of him to the right because they got a lot of attention :). Was not bothered by it it though. He made his show personal, was funny at times and his voice was just as lovely as i remember it to be and he had a great vocalist with him on tour. The drummer was equally cool and the band really seemed to enjoy the show as well. Great night !
Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill still making great music, after 40+ years. The rest of the SM gang; Sarah Brown, Ged Grimes, Gordy Goudie and Cherisse Osei are awesome. Sarah's voice adds so much to the songs. Check out "Dirty Old Town". Ged, on bass, is a Simple Minds staple and still rocks. New members Gordy Goudie brings a great stage presence and the man is talented!, and Cherrise Osei is the hardest working drummer in the business. She is a ton of talent! Set list included new songs from the new album as well as plenty of favorites. Show is around 2 hours 20 minutes and totally worth it.
