Sigur Rós on Tour

In 2022, Sigur Rós announced the opening dates of their first world tour in five years and hinted at the new album they've been silently working on in the studio -- the first of their albums to be released since 2013's Kveikur. The forthcoming record was quickly hailed as one of the most anticipated releases of the year, with an international community of fans always eager to hear what the experimental ensemble comes up with next. They say good things come to those who wait. And nearly a decade since their last album dropped, Sigur Rós is sure to deliver a live show that exceeds all expectations, airing never-before-heard songs alongside material drawn from their acclaimed 25-year discography. Wherever they play, the Reykjavík, Iceland, natives transcend language through their music. They make songs for which there are no words but rather an evocation of deep feeling, inspiration and delight. Wherever you catch Sigur Rós on tour -- Australia, Mexico, the United States, or anywhere else -- it makes no difference what language you speak or whether you can understand Jónsi's melodic, Icelandic lyrics. In fact, all the songs off their Grammy-nominated 2002 album ( ) were sung in a made-up language, leaving listeners to interpret their own meaning of the title-less songs that they could then transcribe in the blank pages of the album booklet. To appreciate all their music achieves, watch Sigur Rós in concert and experience artistry unlike any other.

Sigur Rós Live in Concert

Sigur Rós is an experimental post-rock band from Iceland with six No. 1 albums and three platinum records to their name. The trio -- comprised of frontman Jón Þór "Jónsi" Birgisson, bassist Georg Hólm, and keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson -- has remained at the forefront of the international music scene since the band's 1994 conception. Sigur Rós became one of the most celebrated alternative groups throughout the years, praised for consistently breaking ground with their ethereal and orchestral production. It's this atmospheric sound that Sigur Rós is best known for, along with Jónsi's siren-like falsettos that resonate with a celestial lullaby. The progressive outfit's 1999 breakout album, Ágætis Byrjun, received the inaugural Shortlist Music Award, a prestigious prize created to recognize independent releases. They went on to produce a prodigious volume of work, releasing a total of 10 albums and 12 EPs within a span of 20 years. Their No. 1 chart-topper "Glósóli" and signature track "Hoppípolla" appeared in the 2005 film Takk, winning a trio of Icelandic Music Awards. Sigur Rós has also won three MTV Europe Music Awards and in 2004 received their first Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album for ( ).

    Amazing experience

by Nick on 6/23/22The Met Philadelphia - Philadelphia

It was more than just seeing a band play. They incorporated the entire stage. Their use of lighting to add to the music instead of just going to the music was astounding. The whole experience left me with wanting more.

    Extraordinary Concert Experience

by Stephanie Courtney on 6/23/22Beacon Theatre - New York

Possibly the best concert I've ever heard. The sound was unbelievably rich and euphoric. Sigur Ros are like no other band. Their sound is transcendant, and their live sound is better than their recorded sound because you can feel the sound in your bones. Exceptional. And the Beacon was a gorgeous place to see them.

    Mind Blowing!

by Diane P on 6/22/22Beacon Theatre - New York

Truely like nothing else! The music coupled with the visuals was amazing. Not a word of English was sung or spoken but the emotion was clear and transcendent. Jonsi has a powerful and angelic voice. SR are both soft and ethereal and the hardest rocking band I have ever seen or heard. They are the true embodiment of an Icelandic experience in a good way! Epic.

    Outstanding

by Jernessa on 6/21/22Beacon Theatre - New York

I cannot begin to put into words how incredible the Sigur Ros concert was. The sound was magnificent in The Beacon Theater, perfect for Jonsi’s brilliant voice. These guys are the most talented musicians I’ve ever heard. Their music really is an art form, & their passion is palpable.

    Awesome!!!!!!!!!!

by Nora on 6/21/22Beacon Theatre - New York

The concert wad great. I still have goosebumps. They played all their hits. Being there, in person, live, feeling the music will have a lasting affect. They sure did not shortchange the fans. The only issue I had, and had nothing to do with the band, there was a lot of getting up and down and some people were even talking. Which I found disrespectful.

The Spirit Was In The House

by RT on 6/21/22Beacon Theatre - New York

This was my first time seeing Sigor Ros despite buying their first commercial album back in 1999 and being a casual fan for over 20 years. They were phenomenal! Their expert musicianship translates to atmospheric, emotional, thrilling and climatic music that sends shivers down your spine. Go see them!!!

    Sigur Ros

by MOBD on 6/20/22Beacon Theatre - New York

I don’t know how to explain how brilliant this concert was. If you know Sigur Ros, you understand that you can’t sing along, that you won’t know any words (unless you speak their ‘language’) and that you might only barely recognize the song because in the moment, the song becomes something that only your soul truly hears and your response is driven by pure emotion. I am still, three days later, imbued with the magnificence and majesty of Sigur Ros and am grateful for the Beacon Theater for presenting such magic.

One of their best NYC shows ever

by Arthur Hervias on 6/20/22Beacon Theatre - New York

Back to the 4 musicians, great set, great sound, great venue. The first half of the set was the well known Sigur Rós artistic musical recital, elegantly played with their delicate delivery. The second half was more of a rock concert with heavy sounds and having the audience engaged throughout most of the set list after the intermission. Their NYC shows are memorable, this one joins the list way up there.

by Christina T on 6/20/22Beacon Theatre - New York

Saw them play at the beacon theater in NYC and it was the most moving and profound experience I’ve ever had at a show. Never experienced such peaceful oneness before with an entire theater of strangers. They sounded amazing at the beacon and I can still feel the peaceful vibrations through my body and energy field 👌🏻

    Sigur Ros at Kings Theatre

by Stevo on 6/19/22Kings Theatre - Brooklyn

Entry was quick and easy for this sold-out show since I arrived a half hour early. Sigur Ros was excellent as always. Great sound and visuals. The audience was respectful of each other by not blocking views by standing. This act has many rests and very quiet parts- the audience behaved accordingly, keeping quiet until ends of songs to applaud.

    Best Night Ever!

by Vika on 6/18/22Kings Theatre - Brooklyn

A friend saw a post on a group chat that someone couldn’t make it to the show on Tuesday and had a free ticket to Sigur Ros. He knew I loved the band so he asked if I wanted the ticket and I of course said yes! The concert had just started but I jumped on the train and ran to King’s! I’d seen them before and had seen them at King’s in 2016 and am planning to see them at Beacon Theater too, but they never disappoint! Their live performances are always fantastic and the staff at King’s were very friendly and helpful in directing me as I arrived rather late into the show.

    Great with some nit picks

by Rollie on 6/17/22Kings Theatre - Brooklyn

Overall a great experience, but there sounds is way too loud at times. The flashing strobes pointed at audience was also very blinding. Great to see sigur ros play though.

    Amazing Show

    by D. P. on 6/14/22Meridian Hall - Toronto

Sounded like a studio album recording session. That’s how clear and perfect they played. The abstract lighting and background went great with the shrooms I was on. 10/10.

This concert was an emotional experience. You can’t really understand unless you are there and see it and hear it. Absolutely incredible.
