Sigur Rós on Tour
In 2022, Sigur Rós announced the opening dates of their first world tour in five years and hinted at the new album they've been silently working on in the studio -- the first of their albums to be released since 2013's Kveikur. The forthcoming record was quickly hailed as one of the most anticipated releases of the year, with an international community of fans always eager to hear what the experimental ensemble comes up with next. They say good things come to those who wait. And nearly a decade since their last album dropped, Sigur Rós is sure to deliver a live show that exceeds all expectations, airing never-before-heard songs alongside material drawn from their acclaimed 25-year discography. Wherever they play, the Reykjavík, Iceland, natives transcend language through their music. They make songs for which there are no words but rather an evocation of deep feeling, inspiration and delight. Wherever you catch Sigur Rós on tour -- Australia, Mexico, the United States, or anywhere else -- it makes no difference what language you speak or whether you can understand Jónsi's melodic, Icelandic lyrics. In fact, all the songs off their Grammy-nominated 2002 album ( ) were sung in a made-up language, leaving listeners to interpret their own meaning of the title-less songs that they could then transcribe in the blank pages of the album booklet. To appreciate all their music achieves, watch Sigur Rós in concert and experience artistry unlike any other.
Sigur Rós Live in Concert
Sigur Rós is an experimental post-rock band from Iceland with six No. 1 albums and three platinum records to their name. The trio -- comprised of frontman Jón Þór "Jónsi" Birgisson, bassist Georg Hólm, and keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson -- has remained at the forefront of the international music scene since the band's 1994 conception. Sigur Rós became one of the most celebrated alternative groups throughout the years, praised for consistently breaking ground with their ethereal and orchestral production. It's this atmospheric sound that Sigur Rós is best known for, along with Jónsi's siren-like falsettos that resonate with a celestial lullaby. The progressive outfit's 1999 breakout album, Ágætis Byrjun, received the inaugural Shortlist Music Award, a prestigious prize created to recognize independent releases. They went on to produce a prodigious volume of work, releasing a total of 10 albums and 12 EPs within a span of 20 years. Their No. 1 chart-topper "Glósóli" and signature track "Hoppípolla" appeared in the 2005 film Takk, winning a trio of Icelandic Music Awards. Sigur Rós has also won three MTV Europe Music Awards and in 2004 received their first Grammy nomination for Best Alternative Music Album for ( ).

Seating was perfect didn’t have to stand could see whole stage
Sound was amazing at the Wang, Sigur Ros was amazing as always. They deserved the standing ovation they got for their performance!
From Jonśi’s beautiful and organic voice. To the light but stimulating tremble of the bass and drums with the vibrations of Jonśi bow stroke. Talk about hitting all the sensations at the same time. At times I just closed my eyes and let the music take over. The stage lights and effects were a visual pleasure, every presentation matched the song and the vibe. And, my boys were working hard! The passion was deep and enigmatic. Money well spent and I can’t wait for them to return!
Between the Band and the Venue, the night couldn’t have been better. I would highly recommend seeing Sigur Ros!
Sigur Ros has always had the ability to completely change my perception of life. The music is in its own realm and it takes me there. Experiencing them live was to experience the fullness of the music of Jonsi's voice (he's from somewhere beyond this place, convince me otherwise). My niece felt like she was having out-of-body moments and the people surrounding us all seemed deeply moved. The venue was the perfect setting, a place like no other for performers who create such transcendent music.
AM-A-ZING show. Wall-to-wall music, lights, majesty of sound, transcendent concert.
Great show and fantastic sound The band were really on top tonight
What am incredible show. Pure bliss, absolute catharsis.
Amazing show! Everything was organized, clean, nice staff. Band was awesome!
I am still in awe over what I witnessed at the Met. Sigur Ros are masters of their craft and proved that with an amazing live performance. Never has a concert touched me the way this one did. If you ever get the chance to see them, even if you dont know much about them, do not hesitate.
As always, we really enjoyed The Anthem. The entire concert was seated for this show, which was new to us. Very well organized, clean, bathrooms and bars on each of the 3 levels. Sound quality was excellent. Able to see the artist well. This is our favorite venue in the MD/DC area.
Great live show. I’d go back every night. Sigur Ros is amazing.
This was the 3rd time we've seen Sigur Rós. Their performances are pure magic. From the first notes, the feeling of the audience's immediate engagement was palpable. This was our first time visiting the Anthem in DC. What a venue! Will definitely go there again in the future. And cant wait to see Sigur Rós again.
Sigur Ros never fails to please and excite me. Great music, some familiar to old fans and some new. Great stage light show too. Venue is very new, accommodating with good seats and lots of leg room. We were in Tier C, the equivalent of rear mezzanine, and sound was perfect and we could see the entire breathe of the show.
The performance was perfect and the set list was well chosen and arranged. The sound at the back of the room was great and the view of the stage was fine. The awesome, artistic visuals added so much to the music. Access to the theater was well handled with no significant wait. The beer was great but priced a bit high, though not out of line with similar venues. Parking is either expensive or inconvenient. My friend, who came by Metro, left early to be sure he got home before it closed, making that choice problematic. It was every bit as good as the concert they gave at Merriweather several years ago and I appreciated the changes they made so that it wasn't just a repeat. Definitely one of the best concerts I've been to.
Best live band ever! There really aren't words to explain the experience of seeing them live! You will leave the show absolutely in awe of what you just witnessed.
It is just incomprehensible to me why the music was SO LOUD at the Mpls Sigur Ros concert in June 2022. It pounded against my chest and left me with a headache. I love Sigur Ros and felt bad but just couldn’t take it.
Transcendent. Cerebral. Beautiful. Emotional. Breathtaking. Magical.
I've seen Sigur Ros many times. Each time, they out do the last experience. Expectations are always surpassed. They bring me to tears with every performance. They are quite simply, master class. Well worth the travel/lodging/ticket/merch expenses! Thank you for a magical night!
