Shrine Circus on Tour
For more than a century, the Shrine Circus has dazzled audiences around the U.S. with family-friendly delights. Shriners chapters all over the country sponsor these circuses annually, offering their members a chance to reach out to the community and giving children of all ages the chance to see thrilling stunts and exotic animals at reasonable prices. The Shrine Circus has been a bedrock of many American communities' yearly calendars for decades, creating a long-lasting tradition that builds bonds both in and between families.
Shrine Circus Background
Established in 1872, Shriners International has been one of America's premier fraternities promoting fellowship and brotherhood. Known throughout the world for their philanthropic efforts with Shriners Hospitals for Children, which offers sliding-scale medical services to children in need of orthopedic, cleft lip and palate, burn, and spinal injury care, the Shriners have also been beloved for the circuses they put on around the country.
Similar to the mission of the Shriners Hospitals, the Shrine Circus puts the idea of affordability for all families front and center. The first Shrine Circus was held in 1906 in Detroit at the Moslem Shrine Center. Since then, Shrine chapters all around the country have put on their own versions of the big show. While the circuses are more often held inside arenas than under big tops, attractions remain familiar, varying from city to city but usually including massive elephants, kooky yet friendly clowns, and high-flying acrobats.
Circus stars like the Wallendas, Clyde Beatty, and the Zacchinis have all been included in the Shrine Circus' past lineups. In 2019, the Detroit Shrine Circus featured the Dominguez Motorcycle Stunt Show, made up of former Ringling Bros. daredevils who perform death-defying tricks while encased in a steel globe. The St. Paul Osman Shrine Circus is the longest continuously running Shrine Circus in the U.S.

Haven't been to a circus previously, so the family went to the Shrine circus in Fargo. My thought is the circus is a fun, visual and exciting experience for all. Would definitely go again if the Shrine circus returned to town.
The circus show was good. The activities being cash only was interesting considering the arena is cashless - I thought that was odd. The show was nice. Intermission was excessively long, they re-setup the activities and then had to take them back down. Generally intermissions are 15mins tops, this was about 30-45mins. It seemed more like a cash grab than a show. Highly recommend less intermission timeframe and more show time.
Not what I expected. I took my kids to see this same show 29 years ago.
This event brought me back to my childhood. It was incredible. I love everything about it. My daughter and nieces loved it the smiles and looks on their faces made my day. Was definitely something to remember.
My 10 yo had a wonderful time. Lots of memories were made. The clowns were phenomenal! Can't wait for next year.
Remembering going to the circus as a child our adult daughter suggested we go to the circus as a family event. The ages in our group ranged from 3 to 62. Every one of us had the most amazing amount of fun! We each chose a different circus event as our favorite but all agreed we made some treasured memories!
Somehow our tickets ended up in an ADA section. Where I thought we were buying front row, center tickets they got moved. It wasn’t so bad though because we ended up in a private suite. Know ahead of time that there is an intermission. Show was supposed to start at 10 and was 15-20 min behind schedule (probably in part to the elephant rides, face painting and pony rides on the floor before the show) which was crazy expensive. $20 person to ride an elephant in a tiny circle. No thank you. During intermission they bring all this stuff back out. Having an 18mo old this was not ideal. He enjoyed the lights and show but got restless as this took way too long. We tried to make it through intermission and ended up leaving after 20 min into it. So, spent 2 hours at the event to only watch about 45 min of show. Pretty corny acts and would not attend again.
We took our granddaughter and three great grandchildren to see this year’s Shrine Circus. We were not disappointed! We really enjoyed all of the acts. The family doing the high wire act were outstanding and highly entertaining. Noteworthy was the unicycle rider with his finale atop a 25 foot tall unicycle. Good music, flashy costumes, and pretty ladies working high in the air. Well worth the time to watch.
There's nothing like a circus with elephants, clowns, daredevil acts and all the traditional circus entertainment. The performances were all superb! Hope to see them for years to come!
Would loved if they interacted with the people in the vip sectionssss. We all pay a lot to sit were we are… but that’s just me :)
Our grandchildren are 6 & 7 years old. They had a blast at this circus riding camels and elephants. They also loved the face painting and getting all the clowns autographs ! My husband and I were impressed with the aerial entertainers and motorcycle cage. Thank you for a fun outing!
The VIP experience is worth the money, but would've like the at least a single ride on an animal to be apart of that VIP experience instead of separate cost. Plenty of attractions for the kids to be entertained prior to show and intermission, gifts and food were reasonable prices. Would be nice if the children could've feed some of the animals and the moon bounce should've had free entry for VIP attendees. Otherwise great performances from the entertainers and especially the children entertainers.
I wouldn’t return everything was over priced the whole half time my kids were over it the circus show have that before and after only 25 dollars to ride a elephant is ridiculous got seats in second row super close together and very uncomfortable funnel cake was 7 or 10 dollars Worse funnel cake ever glow lights 20-25 dollars broke we had a horrible experience we spend over 125 dollars that’s not including tickets the show wasn’t even all that best part was the motorcycles in the ball my kids are younger and all they wanted to do was go home
It's been since before 1993 since I got to go to a Circus with my father, I cannot even remember how old I was then as a child besides younger than 7. Taking my girls to the Circus 🎪 for the first time, ages 3 and 4, it really meant a lot to me to take them and to see their faces and it brought back a lot of memories that were and are still dear to my heart. In a manner, tradition was given from my father to me to my girls through going to see this event and it really meant more to me than words. The show was amazing and so much talent and hard work shown. Thank you for allowing us to come view and experience such awesome things and bringing to forefront, great memories of someone who I loved dearly who is no longer with us that my kids didn't get to meet but in spirit, my father was there with me and the girls. I have always loved Circus and the arts in many variations. Thank you all so much! It was wonderful! 💜
This one was actually way better the Barlem and Bailey!! They had actual animals and better music! I would come to this circus from now on versus the high end B&B
It was a fun experience, from the elephant ride to camel ride to train ride , it was a great time for my family and I and my niece loved her face paint art, the artist did amazing and the staff was awesome, the performances were funny and fun to watch some left my mouth opened hoping nobody would get hurt but the performers did absolutely amazing! Hope they come back to San Antonio TX :-D
The Shrine Circus was GREAT. The acts were awesome and the Shrine clowns and ladies were so friendly and funny! My grandkids loved it! We go every year! Thank you, Shriners for a fun family event.
The circus was great the acrobatic portion was very impressive , the show was great all around my son loved it ! Would definitely go again !
We were pretty disappointed this year. Its beginning to be a bunch of dancing and less excitement! They took out the cannon, the bikes in the air, the clown with the dog dressed like an elephant. It was rather boring this year :(
