Shin Lim on Tour

Catching Shin Lim in the act is unlike watching any other magician perform. Instead of making people disappear or sawing them in half, he simply concentrates on card tricks. But he raises the level of his sleight of hand with a deck of cards to a fine art.

There's drama, music, and a kind of a ballet to Lim's magic. And he's known for performing his illusions without uttering a word, letting his hands and his cards do all the talking while his carefully curated music — Lim started out as a musician — tickles the audience's ears. If you've seen him in one of his many television appearances, be it Penn & Teller: Fool Us, America's Got Talent, or Jimmy Kimmel Live, then you've experienced only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to a Shin Lim live performance.

Shin Lim Background

Born in Vancouver to Singaporean parents and raised in Massachusetts, Shin Lim had two passions in his youth: music and magic. He was studying music in college when he learned that he was suffering from carpal tunnel syndrome. This discovery caused him to abandon playing the piano in favor of becoming a professional magician.

He got one of his first big breaks when he was given the chance to tour in China. Since he didn't speak the language, he kept silent during his tricks, and that practice became a signature of his shows. Bringing a bold, unprecedented artistry to the realm of card tricks, Lim really began to hit it big when he worked his magic on TV's Penn & Teller: Fool Us in 2015. The performance became a social media sensation that elevated his profile dramatically. Since then, he's frequently appeared on TV, twice becoming a winner on America's Got Talent. And he tours widely, taking his illusions everywhere from Las Vegas to Broadway.

Highly recommend Lim to close-up magic fans. His opener Cloud is a fun mentalist and helps Lim tell his story. Brain-teasing magic with great storytelling. We take visitors to see Lim when they want to see close-up magic.

From the first time we saw Shin on AGT we knew we had to see him. So celebrating our 60th wedding anniversary, he was our perfect gift while in Vegas. His show was out of this world and his friend Colin was amazing as well. We had front row center seats and also meet and greet tickets so this was very special. Shin Lim is such a sweet person in real life...talking to him he makes you feel like a friend instead of just a fan. Everyone needs to go see Shin Lim. We do hope he stays in Vegas a long, long time. We HAVE to take our daughter next year!

Our party was fortunate to have front-row seats, so we could see every move close up. Shin Lim is a masterful magician and entertainer. The show also incorporated a couple of other twists, making it even more entertaining and awesome. After the show, we were able to meet Shin Lim, where we saw the person behind the magic. He is truly a gentle spirit with a kind soul, and his success is well deserved.

Was so much fun seeing Shin Lim in person after watching him win AGT twice. His tricks were amazing and mesmerizing. Really enjoyed the first trick which involved the entire audience - terrific way to start off everything. Also, very much enjoyed that his show included Colin Cloud, the mentalist. His act was also extremely entertaining! Hope that both of them get picked up by another casino or venue after The Mirage closes in July.

by Duluth Jon on 6/17/24The Mirage Theatre - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

Both men put on an amazing performance. A little less talking and more card tricks would have made it even better. We were always trying to see how he did his tricks. It was fantastic.

  • Amazing, Just Amazing

by HyoungryMan on 6/4/24The Mirage Theatre - Las VegasRating: 5 out of 5

I've been a fan of Shin Lim ever since I saw him on AGT. I follow his social media accounts and love watching his videos. When I finally got a chance to come to Vegas, I immediately booked a ticket to see his show. Shin Lim is very talented and some of his tricks are absolutely mind-blowing. There is a nice balance of various magic acts and audience participation. He is very soft spoken, so sometimes it's hard to hear him but you don't need your ears to enjoy the show. Do yourself a favor and see him!

  • View restricted seats not labelled as such

by DavidN on 5/30/24The Mirage Theatre - Las VegasRating: 4 out of 5

The show itself is fantastic. The two major players interact well and their act is professional. There was a third player who had an interesting, and non-advertised, part of the show. Where we were seated was too far to one part of the stage and up front. (AA, seats 3/4) and you could not see crucial things except by watching a screen. The show support staff moved seats 5/6 but left us. No idea why they got moved, but we did not, as it was obvious we were struggling a bit to see. This should be advertised, and it should be dealt with if there are available seats, so I think this is a theater management issue. Maybe Hard Rock will do a better job at managing this theater's issues.
