SHARON VAN ETTEN IN CONCERT:
Indie darling Sharon Van Etten is on the verge of something big --whether she's singing along to her Gibson acoustic or rocking out with a full band, her musical style transcends traditional boundaries, making her one of the genre's most promising rising talents. Van Etten's dynamic vocal range is impressive as she mesmerizing audiences with her warm, angelic voice, and her lush harmonies have become a focal point of her live shows. Back on the road for a series of highly anticipated dates, Van Etten will treat fans to classics like "For You" alongside newer material like "Every Time the Sun Comes Up," the closing track from 2014's Are We There.
BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:
Sharon Van Etten got her start at a young age, singing in her New Jersey hometown's church choir and taking up violin, clarinet, and piano. Throughout high school she performed in a number of school groups, and in 2005 she moved to New York to pursue music full time. After years of penning songs and playing local gigs around Brooklyn's bar scene, Van Etten landed an opening spot on Meg Baird's 2008 tour, releasing her debut album Because I Was In Love a year later. Having established her harmonious new sound, Van Etten quickly followed up with epic (2010) and Tramp (2012), landing on tour with The National and The War On Drugs. NPR describes her music as " heartfelt without being overly earnest...and her elegant voice is wrapped in enough rasp and sorrow to keep from sounding too pure or confident," and it's this delicate balance that gives her unique music its edge. Back on the road in support of her 2014 release Are We There, Van Etten is set to give fans an experience they won't soon forget.
FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

by truthtelleveryoneyouknow on 11/27/12Town Hall - New YorkSharon Van Etten is freaking angelic. Everything about this performance was awesome. The set was split into two parts - calm and quiet, then more edgy and rock - separated by a short intermission. Sooo many guest performers. Thurston Moore, John Moloney, Aaron Dessner, Jenn Wasner, Peter Silberman, Brad Cook. It was her dad's birthday so he even went onstage to awkwardly tambourine his way through a song. The whole night was brilliant and I'd totally go see her again (a thousand times).

Rating: 5 out of 5 Sharon Van Etten & Damien Jurado
by veggiedogsaturn on 11/10/12Taft Theatre - CincinnatiFor the last seven years Damien Jurado's albums have blown me away with his amazing songwriting and vocals. So when I heard he was playing a mere hour away from Dayton I jumped at the chance to see him live. He played an intimate set (just him with an acoustic guitar) and was surprisingly funny and down to earth when he talked with (not to) the audience. I was unfamiliar with Sharon Van Etten's music but she and her band put on a great show as well at a sweet venue. The Taft Theatre in Cincy is awesome!
Rating: 5 out of 5 Sharon Van Etten - must see!!
by Anonymous on 8/14/12Rickshaw Stop - San FranciscoThis up-and-coming indie darling put on a heartfelt, brilliant, and personable show full of her own compositions. She has one of the most unique women's voices in the music industry today and her songs touch on a deep place in the human condition.
Rating: 5 out of 5by Anonymous on 8/12/12Rickshaw Stop - San Francisco Great performers: sound, timing, set-list, and humor between songs. The only dislike would be how late in the night Sharon's set began, and finished.

by olgameisterfunk on 3/25/12Aladdin Theater - PortlandSharon is one of those artists who is a triple threat: talented, humble, and charming. I was lucky enough to be up front row, and she certainly didn't disappoint. So glad to see her back in Portland once again :)
Rating: 3 out of 5 Sharon was great! Sound was horrible!
by pkgg21 on 3/25/12Aladdin Theater - PortlandBefore the show started the bartender said it was the loudest sound check he'd ever heard. He was correct. The War on Drugs were way too loud, so much so I had to buy ear plugs for the first time in my life. They were decent. Sharon was awesome, but they had lots of problems with her mic and one of her guitars the whole night.
Rating: 5 out of 5 FANTASTIC!
by Monica1251 on 3/22/12Avalon - Hollywooda very inspiring, intimate, lovely show! she's by far one of the best female artist there is out there.
Rating: 5 out of 5by Anonymous on 3/22/12Avalon - Hollywood The War on Drugs and Sharon Van Etten were both fantastic. The venue was great and accommodating. The drinks were a little overpriced, but we're in Hollywood, what do you expect! Great way to spend a Tuesday night!

by 123led on 3/3/12Bowery Ballroom - NEW YORKShow was OK for me - she seems like a good songwriter with potential to get much better. Lyrics and music geared to the 20-25 year old crowd.
Rating: 4 out of 5 Good show, good venue
by ShearwaterLove on 2/28/12Paradise Rock Club - BostonI like shows at The Paradise. It's unpretentious and now that they've bumped out the space, there are lots of places to stand and have a good view of the performers. The sound is good too-- loud enough but not ear-popping and the crowd always seems pretty laid back. At this show, actually, I was surprised that more people weren't head bobbing or dancing! I thought Shearwater was going to be the headliner (they were actually the opener), and they are one of my favorite bands. They rock! It wasn't their best show, but it was still great to see them. And I had a great view and could have talked with the band members after as they mingled and watched Sharon Van Etten perform. Van Etten was great. She and her band were tightly prepared, and the woman who played keys and guitar had the perfect voice for harmonies. I was really impressed with them all. I liked Van Etten coming into the show, and left with even more appreciation.
