  • Fun! Great cause!

by Twolittlesuessfans on 3/5/12Palace Theatre Columbus - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Really enjoyable show. It was lively and entertaining. They did a great job of integrating Dr. Suess' stories, and the live orchestra made all the difference. Way to go Pleasure Guild!

From age 2 to age 82, our diverse group was entertained by the PG's "Seussical the Musical". Everyone sounded and looked amazing transporting the audience to the jungle and the planet of Who! I went home and downloaded the soundtrack on iTunes so I could continue to enjoy the show after the show. Cannot wait until next year, I will definitely be back!

  • Seussical the Musical

Being a theater person for over 50 years, I was very impressed with the production. I knew the the young man that played JoJo and have been impressed with him for sometime. I have Directed Seussical twice myself and saw many things I would utilize if I were to direct it again. This was also my first time in the Palace and thought it was a beautiful theater. Everyone in the cast worked hard and put on a fantastic show. The Cat was great. I would love to get involved with any of Pleasure Guilds Productions and would love info on how to do that.

I have 2 complaints about the program. First, there was not enough advance advertising for the show. I think more people would come and support Children's Hospital but they didn't know about the production. I also thought it was a little long for the children. Maybe they could give the show length when purchasing tickets and also recommend what ages. I loved the music and all the actors!

The show was well directed and well cast. The cat (David Baghat) was excellent, as were the birds (Amazing Mazey and neighbor with one tail). The elephant was lovable. Overall, just a nice family show with a lot of heart.

For a local prodcution, really, really amazing, surpassed all of my expectations, and well worth the ticket price.

  • Excellent!

It was excellent. I would love to be a part of a program like this. One thing that sticks out the most is that the costuming was very representative and effective... i.e. the Horton the Elephant character, who despite the costuming, WAS Horton the Elephant. I would love to support the Pleasure Guild Theater in the future. Excellent work!

I was disappointed with this musical. The costumes, I felt, were poor. It was also too long in length..after one hour most younger children were no longer interested.

  • Seussical was fun

by pg04 on 7/20/11The Aiken Theatre at The Centre - EvansvilleRating: 4 out of 5

Overall it was a wonderful performance. Many of the talents were outstanding. The costumes & sets were so colorful. My only problem was when the group was singing, many times I couldn't understand the lyrics. I'm not sure how much of it was the students or the sound system. Some of the performers did need more training in enunciation. We have much to be proud of in our students.

  • Outstanding Musical Interpretations

Working anonymously behind a black screen, the pit players did a marvelous job giving identity and personal feeling to each song.

  • Hooligan UCLA did a great job

An enthusiastic and energetic cast did a great job. Costumes and sets were well done, too.

  • seussical a poor musical

by cdcid on 1/25/11Paramount Theatre - AuroraRating: 1 out of 5

The talent was okay. The costumes were horrendous....almost non existent. There were no real scenery changes either. We were really looking forward to see this after seeing a wonderful high school version. Drove to this beautiful venue, but left very disappointed. They must have profited from this movie because it was definitely low budget. How do you ruin such a vibrant character such as Gertrude?...just add a bunch of long sleeve tshirts for a tail to look like a ridiculous clothesline or dirty daundry coming from a hamper! Very sad!!!

  • Dr. Seus musical not magical

by momofwo on 1/24/11Paramount Theatre - AuroraRating: 1 out of 5

Considering how much Dr. Seuss books use imagination, this musical fell flat. With little costume design or set design, my kids (4 and 6) who LOVE Dr. Seuss books, cartoons, and movies were very let down as was I. The beginning of the show had some engaging movement and the end had some colorful costumes but everything in between was lacking to engage children of the ages geared toward Dr. Seuss material. Since when does Horton, from Horton hears a who wear grey pants anad sweatshirt with grey shoes. I guess sometimes you get the quality you pay for. I now know why the tickets were only $10. What a disappointment.
