Great music, fun crowd. Sergio put on a music packed lively show. Thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish.
Seeing Sergio Mendes with his band and singers made for one fantastic and enjoyable evening! The sets included oldie favorites and some songs we haven't heard before. I would make every effort to see them again when and if they tour nearby (we were visiting a friend in Norfolk, Va, but certainly wanted to incorporate seeing Sergio Mendes and his group in the trip). The Sandler Center in Virginia Beach is an outstanding venue with great acoustics for such concerts.
Sergio Mendes put on a great concert, however the music was extremely loud and the show was quite short. It would have been much more enjoyable if the music had not been so loud, and if the show had been longer. Expensive for the limited time.
A magical night of great music and impeccable vocals that waxed nostalgic for all who attended to enjoy.
Great, if a little short, Sergio Mendes show the other night at Sony Hall. He and his band performed all the hits, including some updated versions of them. The length of the show was a little bit brief, but that's not nearly as disappointing as Sony Hall, New York's worst-run venue since the former BB King Club on 42nd street. They pack people in mercilessly, some of the staff doesn't know how to talk to customers. It's just too obnoxious for words. Next time a great act is scheduled to appear, I'll pass. I can't imagine how they'd even evacuate everyone in the event of a fire.
In reviewing Blue Note's upcoming events, I came across this upcoming event. I go back to Sergio Mendez music since his album Brazil 66. The venue selected was a great place to have this event Truly appreciate it.
The best concert ever. The music of this master musician was amazing. The concert demonstrated the romantic sounds of Brazilian music and it's national dance, the samba.
The concert and food were both great but the ambience made a superb Friday evening !
My 5th Sergio concert. Loved the venue. So personal
I loved your theater, your staff is outstanding, and the sound was great to hear on of my favorite artist. 5 stars
Wonderful to hear/see this iconic band. It was an overall great experience and would definitely see them again if the opportunity arose. I found Sergio’s wife’s voice difficult to listen to. I have no doubt her live performances used to be spectacular however I believe it is time for her to step back.
Everything about this concert was terrific - the Jobim tunes, along with Brazil 66 etc. They musicians were top notch. The energy was amazing. The entire audience was up and dancing by the end of the show!
Sergio and his band were awesome. Singers were great, fun time for all.
Super show. Lots of musical talent on that stage, bringing music from Brazil to The Beatles. Sergio, keep on playing!
My wife and I love the Bossa Nova sound, and Sergio Mendes still carries the torch as one of its’ best representatives. From their hit Mais Que Nada to their many hits with Brasil 66, Sergio still sounds great after 60 years performing. The show at the Birchmere had the crowd on its feet. The band was tight, as were the harmonies. Definitely a must see the next time they’re in town.
Absolutely fantastic. Got us all up and dancing. Covered the whole spectrum of his decades of songs.
Same vegas style act Mr. Mendez performed in 2017. Sorry Sergio but we thought we would get some roots bossa (remember the title of show) but it was Vegas. Rap? Oy vay.... Bebel sang with a drummer and guitarist and had more validity in her little finger(lol)
Sergio brought me back to my high school era.. the songs were great! Bebel was also amazing love her voice, energy & songs! When they come back I’ll definitely see them again.
This show was outstanding! Sergio's music was the album/CD I bought & listened to the songs over and over again. There's always songs you wished the artist played ("The Real Thing & Love is Waiting") but he played many of the songs I love and consider classics that will NEVER grow old!! Thank you for a marvelous night ... even in the rain!!!!
