Seattle Sounders FC History

The Seattle Sounders joined MLS in 2009 and quickly built a Western Conference powerhouse, winning four U.S. Open Cups, one Supporters' Shield (2014), and two MLS Cup Championships in 2016 and 2019.

Jordan Morris was named the 2019 MLS Comeback Player of the Year after recovering from a torn ACL that sidelined him for nearly all of 2018. In 2019, the Sounders earned the No. 2 seed in the MLS Western Conference and qualified for the MLS Cup Playoffs for the 11th straight season. In 2021, the Sounders became the first MLS club to advance to the finals match of the annual North American Leagues Cup tournament, and in 2022, the team won the interleague CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Any game a team comes back from behind is worth the attention. The Sounders recovered gracefully from a 1:0. Good team spirit.

    Sounders FC are awesome!

by Kraos on 10/27/09Qwest Field - Seattle

The game was awesome . . . the most fun professional sporting event I've been to. We sat up in section 240 where a lot of families were sitting and had only one problem. . .there were a couple of disrespectful young men (no older than 21) who refused to sit down during the first half and it was difficult to see. They were asked and told to sit by several people, including myself. The good news is they didn't come back after the half.

No better sporting event in Seattle! I love baseball and the 12th man is exciting, but you can't beat a bunch of fans that won't sit down chanting all game long.

    I caught the ball

by Brigadoone on 10/26/09Qwest Field - Seattle

A class competitive game with many Yellow cards. Couple of tight knit goals that were awesome. Could not drink my beer below the family section.

    Seattle Sounders don't dissappoint!

by sportnut on 10/25/09Qwest Field - Seattle

There are no bad seats in the arena. We sat at the far end of the field perpendicular to the goal. While it was hard to see the action on the other end, it was amazing to see action on our goal line up close!!! My son had a hard time seeing though the standing crowd, so we were allowed to go stand next to the railing. There was nothing else between us, the field, and the players!!

    great match

by rooteldinio on 9/21/09Qwest Field - Seattle

I hate seeing yet another tie but I always enjoy watching great soccer in person. The tickets we had were in the 100 level and so we had a great view of the field. I would not want to be in the end zone because they were always always loud and moving (dancing or chanting), altho it is awesome to watch. The fan support is amazing and a lot of fun. If I can manage it, next time I would like to try middle back of 100 level or front of 200. It rained just a bit too but it was tolerable. We parked away from the field and that seems to work out better.

    Sounders run the full 90!

by Bobbyvino on 9/21/09Qwest Field - Seattle

Great game, unfortunate the ball didn't find the back of the net! Superb goal tending for both keepers. Chivas has a very good defense.

Atmosphere in the MLS close to the European Soccer

by VJnator on 9/20/09Qwest Field - Seattle

It was my first MLS event in the U.S. and I need to say - the Seattle Sounders Fans are impressive and fantastic. I grew up in Germany andplayed myself 27+ years soccer in Europe, attented 100's and 100's of Bundesliga and Europe Leaque games as fan and the atmosphere and kindness the Seattle fans display is outstanding and from the enthusiasm on the same level as their counter parts in Europe. The nicest thing here in Seattle is that the soccer games are family events and you don't see any violence between the fans at all. Sounders fans you are getting an A+++ from me, and the organzation of the Seattle Sounders - my compliments you are having a great team.

The Sounders FC game was great

by Marysam on 9/20/09Qwest Field - Seattle

The game was great. Unfortunately it ended in a 0-0 tie. The seats we were assigned, however, were taken over by the Sounders band as it had been raining. As I am disabled, I wasn't sure where we were going to sit but the Qwest field guest services personnel were especially helpful and caring and found us alternate seating immediately. We were very close to the band, however, and my husband thought it was extremely loud. It didn't bother me, I loved the noise. We were quite pleased with our seats behind the goal, and the view of the game was much better than I expected.

    Qwest field rocks!

by Himcrazy on 9/20/09Qwest Field - Seattle

I have never been to an event at Qwest field before, and was a little concerned about having seats where we couldn't see much because I can't afford the good seats. After going, I honestly don't think that there is a bad seat in Qwest. The way it is designed the entire field is visible from almost every place in the arena, and even the really cheap seats are close enough to see all the action. I'm considering season tickets for next year!

My handicapped son had the time of his life. Seats were the best in the house at a great price. Walked to the hotel after the game. All was perfect.

    Fun Football (Soccer) experience

by RaeStephenson on 8/31/09Qwest Field - Seattle

This was my first MLS soccer match in person. It was colorful and entertaining. I enjoyed the soccer action and I never found it to be dull. There was no score and I read later that the play was not as good as it could be. I would like to learn more about football and see more soccer matches. The stadium experience was excellent ( and much better than what my wife and I experienced at a Seahawk game four years ago. The food was good and the lines were not bad.
