Seattle Sounders FC History

The Seattle Sounders joined MLS in 2009 and quickly built a Western Conference powerhouse, winning four U.S. Open Cups, one Supporters' Shield (2014), and two MLS Cup Championships in 2016 and 2019.

Jordan Morris was named the 2019 MLS Comeback Player of the Year after recovering from a torn ACL that sidelined him for nearly all of 2018. In 2019, the Sounders earned the No. 2 seed in the MLS Western Conference and qualified for the MLS Cup Playoffs for the 11th straight season. In 2021, the Sounders became the first MLS club to advance to the finals match of the annual North American Leagues Cup tournament, and in 2022, the team won the interleague CONCACAF Champions Cup.

When attending a Seattle Sounders game, you can hear thousands of fans from the Emerald City Supporters group chanting "Seattle Sounders, here we go!" to the tune of The Beatles' "Yellow Submarine" at one end of Lumen Field. At the other end of the stadium, thousands of fans from The North End Faithful sing atop the thundering beat of the in-stadium Sound Wave Marching Band.

Global soccer site Copa90 called the Sounders experience the "most incredible fan culture in the US."

    A great family outing

by OxieQ on 9/1/17CenturyLink Field - Seattle

This game was action filled with exciting moments. A demonstration of highly skilled soccer techniques and athletes with great athletic abilities. I enjoy sports that are true to every part of the word "team sport". I understand a game of 22 players on the field and one referee there will be many opportunities for missed calls, but I believe that some calls were UNmistakeable errors that the officials should have done a better job. For instance: Players making contact with a goalie and a foul being called on the goalie, truly needs some explaing.

    Sounders FC!!!

    by TCO21 on 8/15/17CenturyLink Field - Seattle

The entire experience was unforgettable, especially being my first time to a MLS game! From pre-game festivities, to on the pitch with pre-game, and what a game as well! Two of the top 3 teams in their division as every game counts, and ended up 1-0 Sounders! Awesome stadium, awesome food and beverage variety and would definitely go to another Sounders game if I have the opportunity to.

    Second Class Citizen

    by Brad1959 on 8/15/17CenturyLink Field - Seattle

Since I had seats in the third level, there a were at best a minimal selection of concessions. i was told repeated to go back down if i want something other than a hot dog or a piece of pizza. i wish there was some kind of notice that nearly everything was close off before i got up there.

Olé Olé, Olé Olé, Seattle Sounders, Here We Go!

by Wicalo on 7/27/17CenturyLink Field - Seattle

My 16 year old daughter and I sat in with the (pep band?) local cheering section. She had a blast waving the flag, and we both enjoyed the singing and the chanting. Now we are going to see them next year when they (if) play the Charleston Battery!

    New security rules are confusing

    by kennedyp5 on 5/30/17CenturyLink Field - Seattle

I know about the new clear bags, but I didn't know that you can no longer bring in sun screen in metal spray bottles. Instead of making me throw away my sunscreen and left without it, why can't the staff just hand out free 2 oz plastic bottles to fans? I had to go to guest services and borrow some sun screen which was nice of them, but really they should just hand out free sun screen to fans that accidentally bring metal spray bottles.
