SCORPIONS IN CONCERT:

German band Scorpions has been electrifying audiences since the early '70s with their signature hard-rocking melodic metal and power ballads. With the 2010 release of their 17th studio album Sting in the Tail, the band proved that age had far but mellowed them, kicking off another high-energy tour that has fans eagerly awaiting the chance to see them in 2014.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"What a blistering, incredible and energetic concert the Scorpions put on tonight at American Airlines Center. Wailing guitar riffs and solos, thundering rhythms, and of course Klaus Meine's signature, crystal clear, high tenor voice soaring across the arena…Tonight the teenage boy in me returned for one last concert with my favorite band ever."

"The Scorps sounded AWESOME and the energy was AWESOME. They were having so much fun on stage and it showed…They were very interactive with their fans by throwing guitar picks and drumsticks whenever they had the chance!"

"This band still sounds amazing, and their body of work is awesome…They put on a great show as always and I would love to see them again!"

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Scorpions are one of the most successful European bands in music history, having sold over 100 million albums worldwide. Formed in 1969, their early hard rock albums gained attention in Europe and Japan, but it wasn’t until they dropped more radio-friendly albums like 1982's Blackout and 1984's Love At First Sting that they found international fame. Over the years the band has developed a reputation for being an outstanding live act, with Klaus Meine delivering some of the most pitch-perfect live vocals in the history of rock.

    Klaus could still bring it!

Very surprised haven't seen them since 1988 and worried that they might sound like Whitesnake did last summer.

One of the best shows I've seen in a long time. The Scorpions still know how to put on a good show.

The Scorpions were in top form

by teesquare on 7/3/10DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

The performance was on spot for these guys. They played a good mix of older material and new. They dug as far back as there Virgin Killers album. The montoge that was shown during Kottek's durm solo was a real memory awakener. It's sad to think this is their last tour, but it is also good to see them go out while they are in top form.

    Get Your Sting and Blackout

by jjnajor on 7/2/10DTE Energy Music Theater - Clarkston

What an amazing concert!!! Cinderalla opened the show playing some favorites. Tom Keifor even played the saxaphone on one song's homage to Detroit. Then it was time for The Scorpions to rock the house. And did they ever. I loved hearing the songs from the new CD but the crowd joined in when the band played some of their old hits. James Kattak, the drummer, had an interesting solo. Lots of energy from Klaus and Rudolf, they never failed to whoop up the crowd.

The Scorpions put on a great show and were the consummate professionals. They also connected with the audience very well. I would say that they kicked butt with their performance!

The Scorpions and Cinderella were amazing I still can't believe that Tom Kiefer still has his amazing voice after all the surgery he has went through in the past he still has it and he is totally amazing. The Scorpions stage presence was totally amazing their new drummer is unbelievably talented for the rest of the boys they have always had it. Great Job! Great Concert!

Sorpions Rocked -- Needed Better Support Group

by ConcertPadre on 7/2/10DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

The Scorpions are still clearly at the top of their game. These guys are truly first-class.There performance, showmanship and tightness were superb. Clearly they enjoy playing together as a group. The Scorpions main set lasted 1 hours 20 minutes (a little short for my liking) and included 4 songs off of their new album. The main set was followed by an intense 3-song encore. The Zoo and Winds of Change (an encore song) were truly fantastic. The two other encore songs included Rock You Like a Hurricane and No One Like You. Total playing time was 1 hour and 35 minutes -- again a little short for a band of the Scoprion's stature especially for a Final World tour. Having said this the ticket price of $42 for pavillion seats was a good bargin. If you have a chance to see the Scorpions then do so. My only negative for the concert was the fact that the support act was Cinderella who in my opinion were not even good back in the 80's. Additionally they were allocated 1 hour of play time which is a very large percentage of the Scorpion's playing time. Regardless a large percentage of the early crowd was very much into Cinderella.

    Unforgettable!

by JLSeagull on 7/2/10DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

It was a great concert! I am not a big rock fan, but I knew that seeing Scorpions live couldn't be missed! These guys rock! Great music and lots of positive energy coming from the band. Seeing Scorpions on the stage was amazing! They are not young but they have so much strength: I didn't feel that they were tired and gave in any bit of a quality in their performance. I was super happy to have attended this event! and recommend it to anyone who still has a chance to go!

    A "stinging" good time

by metalfam on 7/2/10DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

We went as a family. My 19 year son says that it inspires him to buy a V guitar. This is the first time we have ever seen an acoustic "V" used in concert. These experienced rockers have great showmanship, The crowd pleasers, "There's No One Like You", "The Winds of Change.", and of course "Rock You Like a Hurricane" were all saved for the encore. After hearing these on vinyl, tape,CD and radio for over 20 years, there is nothing like being there when they're performed live in the presence of the people you love most. The incorporation of a video montage using themes from previous album cover art with the engaging personality and virtuosity of Kottak made the "obligatory drum solo" one of the most entertaining I have ever seen.

    Scorpions Rock!

by jackyl on 7/2/10DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

This is the fifth time I seen the Scorpions, and they still can rock.! Musically they are still tight and can get the crowd fired up. They will be missed, but not forgotten.

    Scorpions - one last time

by Brynner on 7/2/10DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

C'mon, these guys are legends of rock. It's an honor to see them before the final curtain falls. Even after 40+ years Schenker, Meine, Jabs and the new guys, Kottak and Maciwoda, can still rock the house with best in history. Ever dream of experiencing the Scorpions performing "Rock You Like a Hurricane" live or any of their other arm-long list of classics? This is your last chance, don't miss it if you consider yourself a real rock fan. This concert is a piece of history.

    Scorpions rocked till we Blackedout

by CommishTom on 7/2/10DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

This was yet another great concert from my favorite band. They jammed tunes from Love Drive to the new Sting. A couple tunes that I have never heard them play live in Detroit before like Loving you "Sunday Morning". I loved it! Only regret is that since this is the last go round I wish they would have played some of the older stuff like from Virgin killer or Lonesome Crow. Still it rocked! I have been stung!

    Scorpions ruled the Motor City!

by Fitzman on 7/2/10DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

These guys rocked out like 20 year olds, not a bunch of guys pushing 60. They sounded incredible. Klaus Meine's voice is incredibly well preserved, and while he took a couple songs to get warmed up, by the 3d tune he was belting out at full rock power. They kept the crowd engaged and seemed like they were having fun on their last hurrah. See them on this tour, you won't be disappointed. I guess 60 IS the new 20.

    Scorpions and Cinderella

by TerrySmith on 7/2/10DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

Outstanding show both acts gave a heck of a performance and I believe they felt the love from Detroit. Cinderella was the best opener I have ever seen, which considering they have headlined themselves is no surprise. The Scorpions wow they knew they were in a place where they are loved and it showed.

The show was great. Cinderella rocked and I didn't want them to stop playing, but when the Scorpions came out, they totally rocked. Sounded great, had cool screen/light show/video and played new stuff and classics.
