SCORPIONS IN CONCERT:

German band Scorpions has been electrifying audiences since the early '70s with their signature hard-rocking melodic metal and power ballads. With the 2010 release of their 17th studio album Sting in the Tail, the band proved that age had far but mellowed them, kicking off another high-energy tour that has fans eagerly awaiting the chance to see them in 2014.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"What a blistering, incredible and energetic concert the Scorpions put on tonight at American Airlines Center. Wailing guitar riffs and solos, thundering rhythms, and of course Klaus Meine's signature, crystal clear, high tenor voice soaring across the arena…Tonight the teenage boy in me returned for one last concert with my favorite band ever."

"The Scorps sounded AWESOME and the energy was AWESOME. They were having so much fun on stage and it showed…They were very interactive with their fans by throwing guitar picks and drumsticks whenever they had the chance!"

"This band still sounds amazing, and their body of work is awesome…They put on a great show as always and I would love to see them again!"

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Scorpions are one of the most successful European bands in music history, having sold over 100 million albums worldwide. Formed in 1969, their early hard rock albums gained attention in Europe and Japan, but it wasn’t until they dropped more radio-friendly albums like 1982's Blackout and 1984's Love At First Sting that they found international fame. Over the years the band has developed a reputation for being an outstanding live act, with Klaus Meine delivering some of the most pitch-perfect live vocals in the history of rock.

    Cinderella was surprisingly very good!

by coco4 on 7/6/10Trib Total Media Amphitheatre at station square - Pittsburgh

I was truey amazed by Cinderella. I saw them when they opened for BonJovi in the 80's & they have improved. That lead singer played at least 5 different instruments & hisvoice is good when he isn't always screaming. This was my 13 yer old son's first concert & he loves the Scorps so he loved the concert. I thought they played too much new stuff & ddn't even play Alien Nation, I can See, or Still Loving You. If this is your farewell tour, you should appease the crowd & sing what they want. But over all, still good, not great. (Also, too many, solos & music playing without singing.)

    Cinderella and Scorpions FTW!!

by Mrpibb on 7/6/10Trib Total Media Amphitheatre at station square - Pittsburgh

An amazing show played by both Cinderella and Scorpions. Both sets were amazing, with Tom Keifer getting the crowd pumped for the headliners. The Scorpions played among a light show, which only added to the atmosphere! The amphitheater was packed with hardcore Scorpions and Cinderella fans, from young to old. Everyone was having a great time. The concert was worth every penny! If I ever get the chance to see Scorpions or Cinderella play again, you can be damned sure I'll be there!

    GREAT show in Pittsburgh

by PittScott on 7/6/10Trib Total Media Amphitheatre at station square - Pittsburgh

For years I've been telling my 16 year old son about how great the Scorpions are in concert. I saw them in 1984 and in 1988, and just hoped that they would tour again some day. Well, I got my wish on July 5th in Pittsburgh, and the Scorps rocked! The band was tight, the sound was great, their interaction with the crowd was very good, and the music was awesome. They played 3 songs from their new album (Sting in the Tail, The Best is Yet to Come, and Raised on Rock). The rest were classics from their career. They started the show with Bad Boys Running Wild, and also played The Zoo, Holiday, Send Me an Angel, Dynamite, Blackout, and Big City Nights. The encore was No One Like You, Wind of Change, and Rock you like a Hurricane. Cinderella was the warm-up band, and though I never thought much of them when they first came out in the 80's, I was impressed with their musical talents. The lead singer played a 6 string and a 12 sting guitar, lap "steel" guitar, and the saxophone. The language between songs was a little "R-rated," but everything else was OK. It's sad that the Scorpions are on a "farewell" tour, as they are just as good as they ever were. But at least I finally got to take my son to see them. And they put on an incredible show!

What I've come to expect -- the best!

by Zekeds on 7/5/10DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

The Scorpions didn't let me down! Actually - I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked the cuts from the new CD live. They had a punch that often can't be captured on a studio track. OK, I felt there were omissions, as I'm sure there were for others: In Trance, Alien Nation, etc. (I would like to have heard "Du Bist So Schmutzig" live, but I know that's pushing it! ...und so geht's manchmal...) The Scorpions played as if Detroit were their only show, and they were giving all their talent and energy to us, for this one show. It was so that I had to ask myself "how on earth could they possibly do this again, let alone TOMORROW in Milwaukee?!" Their love of music and playing live always shows, and this time was no different. Klaus' vocals, the superb guitar work of Rudolf and Matthias, James' fabulous drumming (and great backing vocals), and Pavel's bass/vocal work were a typical showcase of a concentration of talent I have seen nowhere else. There were no "weak points," only strong ones. That goes for their "show" as well. The use of multimedia (especially) during "Raised on Rock" and James' solo were again typical of why I feel the Scorpions put on the best shows I have ever seen. The work and expertise that combine on all levels and in all areas made this concert a "show for the records."

    Scorpions and Cinderella Rocked!!

by Frankjb on 7/5/10DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

Both bands have great live show playing ability. Cinderella's lead singer Tom Kiefer played lead guitar, piano (Don't know what you got, til it's Gone), and sax - this guy has talent! As for the Scorps...seeing them live was outstanding as they really know how to have fun and engage the audience. Their songs sounded as if we were in the studio with them - sounded perfect! I wasn't expecting both bands to play so well...It was just a great show with great songs!!

    Rockin' show

by Burlz on 7/5/10DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

Overall the show was excellent. Cinderella totally rocked and played all of the hits. Scorpions were very good, however for some reason they didn't play "Still Loving You". It was a big disappointment for me since it happens to be my favorite Scorpions song. It was also surprising since it's undeniably one of their 5 or 6 biggest hits. I probably wouldn't go see the Scorpions again, but I would definitely recommend seeing Cinderella if you get a chance.

    The Scorpions still got it!!

by Bloodclot on 7/4/10DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

This show will go down in the books as unforgettable. Not only because it was my Son's first concert but the fact that the boys from Germany proved that they can still rock 'n' roll. From the intro till "Rock You Like A Hurricane", these guys gave their all and did not let up. Not to mention that they looked healthy and showed no signs of aging. The energy was there through out the whole show. The bad part was having to leave. Thanks Guys for all the years of great music and memories!!!

The Scorpions were in top form

by teesquare on 7/3/10DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

The performance was on spot for these guys. They played a good mix of older material and new. They dug as far back as there Virgin Killers album. The montoge that was shown during Kottek's durm solo was a real memory awakener. It's sad to think this is their last tour, but it is also good to see them go out while they are in top form.

    Get Your Sting and Blackout

by jjnajor on 7/2/10DTE Energy Music Theater - Clarkston

What an amazing concert!!! Cinderalla opened the show playing some favorites. Tom Keifor even played the saxaphone on one song's homage to Detroit. Then it was time for The Scorpions to rock the house. And did they ever. I loved hearing the songs from the new CD but the crowd joined in when the band played some of their old hits. James Kattak, the drummer, had an interesting solo. Lots of energy from Klaus and Rudolf, they never failed to whoop up the crowd.

by Anonymous on 7/2/10DTE Energy Music Theatre - Clarkston

The Scorpions and Cinderella were amazing I still can't believe that Tom Kiefer still has his amazing voice after all the surgery he has went through in the past he still has it and he is totally amazing. The Scorpions stage presence was totally amazing their new drummer is unbelievably talented for the rest of the boys they have always had it. Great Job! Great Concert!
