About

Sarah McLachlan became one of most distinctive female vocalists after breaking out in the ’90s behind singles such as “Building a Mystery” and “I Will Remember You.” The Halifax, Nova Scotia native released her debut album Touch in 1988 and logged her first Hot 100-charting singles with 1994’s Fumbling Towards Ecstasy. Her 1997 effort Surfacing debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and hosted her three highest-charting Hot 100 singles: “Building a Mystery,” at No. 13, “Adia” at No. 3 and “Angel” at No. 4. The album went on to win two Grammy Awards. Surfacing also coincided with the first Lilith Fair, the wildly successful all-female touring festival co-founded and hosted by McLachlan that took place from 1997 through 1999 and became the top-grossing music festival of the late-’90s. 2003’s Afterglow marked McLachlan’s third consecutive Top 10 album, and she maintained that streak with studio albums released through 2014’s Shine On. McLachlan has won 12 JUNO Awards and in 2017 was inducted into The Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

i have to say if nothing more the atmosphere of all these venues is worth seeing

  • Lilith Fair 2010 was AWESOME!

by syoshiza on 7/6/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

My husband and I had the time of our life at Lilith Fair - all the artists were unbelievable! Such a great show at an awesome venue. Can't beat the Gorge during the summer.

  • Lilith at the Gorge

by StillInLineAtTheGorge on 7/6/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 4 out of 5

The concert was awesome, the Gorge was beautiful as always, and the weather couldn't have been more cooperative . Getting into the concert was frustrating as usual. I arrived well before the start time and still missed the first acts while waiting in a long line to get in the gate. Come on Gorge you can do better, it's time to build another enterance to allevieat the long lines....it's the only thing that keeps Lilith from being a 5 star deal.

On the + Sheryl Crowe absolutely knows how to entertain! She's one of the most entertaining woman in Rock.! Always beautiful, full energy in great voice and rockin' multiple guitars with a great band. She's a phenom! If she's playing your line up GO! Sugarland was Also high energy and great sound! very much the entertainers I would pay to see them in a show of their own. This is the second time I've rocked out with them at a multi artist summer show! Awesome! Colbie Coliat was great - seemed very brief only a handful of songs and she was off the stage. on the midline. A full episode of the soon to be CANCELED cougar town was shown on two large screens while the baby grand was staged for the Sara McClachlan returns... portion of the show. Much of the audience left reminded of the TV sets and computer monitors they had left home to come to be entertained by live musical performances. This running a TV show for an intemission idea was a bombastic bore... and lost a good chunk of audience as well as all the energy sucked out the room. Audible Boos! emanated from the crowd as the episode came to a close. Enters Sarah M,Voice like a Boticelli angel! but Come on n get happy... the lyrics if played repeatedly would cause me to slit my own wrists and just bleed out right there! On the new "ILLUSIONS" CD she's a one note song writer & all about the sadness. Save "your love is better than ice cream" inspiration for a 911 call from years past...the new album has no obvious hit. The old hits where she showed range of emotion and raised the beat were well done and welcome as none of the few new songs moved me much. Most of the other artists either have not been relevant on radio in quite a while or are new comers. I heard a few great new artists but didn't catch names while shopping the booths with friends and dining on fair food. I miss being more excited about the line up. Previous Lilith I caught the show twice once at the Gorge and once in Vancouver BC both great shows years past. It was just alright for me over all. Great weather and a great crowd. A lot of Woman who love woman and beauty in the freedom of their love sweet and a bit trashy too. Pastie photo op gurls... whatayagonna do?

The show was awesome. Even though it did rain some, the crowd didn't mind and everyone was having fun. Well not the security guys trying to keep the crowd from dancing in the aisles.

Started with perfect weather. Then each set and artist was better than the prior one. Each women so talented. Just wish each one was able to play a bit linger. I did not want to leave even though I had been there for 8 hours.

  • Lilith Fair - Music Wonderful...Drunks NOT

by OlympiaMary on 7/6/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 4 out of 5

A bunch of amazing female musicians - what more can one say? The music was amazing. I love this venue, but the drinking is way out of hand. The minimal search when we entered was obviously partially to blame for the stupid drunk women behind us who had brought in at least one bottle of hard liquor. We had to listen to their loud drunken conversations all night long. At one point one woman called her children to get their daddy to call her. She had to tell him about how she was so scared because there were so many LESBIANS at the festival. She was extremely loud and annoying the entire concert. While Erykah Badu performed she kept yelled "SHUT UP"..."YOU SUCK"...:"STOP PLAYING",etc. She later let her beer can roll down the hill pouring beer all over everyone below...giggling when she realized what she had done. They bragged that they had been drinking since noon and I wondered - where's the security at these events? Obviously you can't kick someone out from being stupid, but when they are loud and obnoxious such as these women were - what gives? I found them somewhat amusing, but later talking to my friends who were around us - they were all extremely annoyed and all debated confrontations, but realized these women would probably start some sort of fight. I have some more tickets for the Gorge later this year - I hope they can get some sort of control over the drinking problem at this venue! I don't have a problem with alcohol at these concerts - just people who can't handle said alcohol.

Loved: -The music Hated: -Lack of concert itinerary prior to or during the show. All it said was that it started at 2:30. No one showed up on the main stage until 6:00. -Having to watch an episode of "Cougar Town" before Sarah preformed.

  • Lilith surprises; good and bad

by LuvLilith on 7/5/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 4 out of 5

Lilith Fair 2010 at the Gorge in Washington: 13 years after the debut festival, the day was stunning with sunshine, a slight cooling breeze and incredible views of the canyon and Columbia river. The bands were eclectic and diverse, the crowd, well, the same! A terrific, fun day topped with amazing performances and great crowd. Low points: sound for Sugarland was poorly mixed and WAY too loud. Lowest point of any show I've ever attended: Believe it or not, Sarah actually allowed her set to follow a super loud screening of the TV show Cougar Town on huge screens to either side of the main stage! We had to sit through a screeching Courtney Cox, (guest starring Sheryl Crow herself,) while the roadies set up for the final act. How could Sarah follow, let alone allow a TV show at such an event? YUCK!

  • Lilith was FABULOUS!

by AimeeW on 7/5/10Sleep Country Amphitheater (Amph at Clark County) - RidgefieldRating: 4 out of 5

Even with the cold weather and pouring down rain, the show went on and it was fabulous! Loved every moment and can't wait to go again.

  • Lilith was great except.....

by Joelynn on 7/5/10Sleep Country Amphitheater (Amph at Clark County) - RidgefieldRating: 4 out of 5

Erica Badu....she was a joke.........She needs to learn how to dress and to try to impress her audience. She wore sweat pants and a sweat shirt with a dumb looking hat and gold earings that made her look like she had gold sideburns! She was the only performer who didn't show any respect to her band by not introducung them. Not impressed with her, As for everyone else....they were fantastic!!!! Sugarland and Sheryl Crow were amazing!!

  • MOVIES

by Jancupid on 7/5/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 2 out of 5

I loved Sugar Land and was really excited for the main stage then they put the TV show on and I was very unhappy with that. I have never seen anything like that and I think it was not in good taste. I ended up leaving half way through the main stage. I think they should have moved the times up and started earlier.

  • Lilith Fair (Amph at Clark County)

by Dissatisfied2010 on 7/5/10Sleep Country Amphitheater (Amph at Clark County) - RidgefieldRating: 1 out of 5

ssue with venue management - not the performers... In comparison to Lilith Fair 1998 (PGE Park, Portland, OR) this event was disappointing. I was not able to upgrade my tickets from lawn to covered seating due to promo pricing. Do not understand this policy – opportunity (money) lost by either the venue or Lilith Fair. There was too much down time between performers on the main stage, and the showing of a Cougar Town episode between Sugarland and Sarah McLachlan was not what I paid to see. Tentative schedules for main stage performers was not available until we were committed to being at the amphitheater as there was no re-entry - waste of time. I will more than likely not attend another event at this venue. Do not appreciate being a captive audience to outrageously priced concessions and no water drinking fountains.

  • by Anonymous on 7/5/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 5 out of 5

Every artist put on an outstanding show; the feeling of community was wonderful. Women rock!

  • Lilith Fair Was Good... but

by Glossylove on 7/5/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 4 out of 5

The stages that were not the main stage were small and in awkward locations. The Esurance stage wasn't used and it would have been a much better place to have Grace Potter or A Fine Frenzy. Many people were upset w/the tv show during the set up of Sarah MacLachlan's performance. All in all the sound was amazing at all venues and I would go again.

  • Schedule was never posted and missed performance

by JessRoqs on 7/5/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 1 out of 5

I specifically paid over $100 for RESERVED seats to see Marie Digby. The schedule for the event was never posted for the event and it was NEVER explained to me that the "smaller" acts were not going to be on the Main Stage (which i paid more than 3 times the price for vs general admission.) The tickets said that the event started at 2:30 but the gates didn't even open until 2:30 and Marie performed a 20 minute set (you have got to be kidding me that she was only given 20 minutes especially since she was only one of two performers on the small stage) and the line to get into The Gorge was so long that it took over an hour to get in and by the time we got in Marie was already done with her set and signing autographs. I drove 3 hours to see Marie and ONLY Marie and I wasn't even able to see her at all. Their was a schedule posted on the OTHER side of the gate after you were already in the venue. This schedule should have been posted OUTSIDE the gate and ONLINE (the tab for the schedule says that it's "coming soon" The main stage performers didn't even start until almost 6 pm. Why couldn't they have allowed the "smaller" acts to use the mainstage and have longer sets. Needless to say I was very very very dissapointed and didn't even stay for the "Main" acts.

  • Amazing!

by DustiD on 7/5/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 4 out of 5

All of the performances were top-notch, and they kept well to the schedule. The Gorge was spectacularly beautiful, and the weather was perfect. Don't skip the lesser-known acts on the smaller stages. Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, and A Fine Frenzy were both terrific.

  • Lilith lame

    by KMKB33 on 7/5/10Gorge Amphitheatre - GeorgeRating: 3 out of 5

Lilith 2010 is a shadow of its former self.... Sugarland totally stole the show. Tacky tacky tacky to totally destroy the energy they created by shoving an episode of Cougartown down our throats. It was terrible crap and doesn't belong at Lilith Fair let alone a gorgeous setting like the Gorge. Please stick to the music.

  • Lilith Fair at the Gorge was A-mazing! :)

Everything went great, and all the performers were amazing!! Such a great time! :)
