Santana in Concert
Few musicians in the history of American popular music inspire the same reverence as Carlos Santana. For more than four decades, he has been one of the music world's most distinctive and exciting guitarists, maintaining his reputation as an artist who continues to revolutionize the form.
Long before listeners knew terms like "fusion" and "world music," Santana was already a master who blended genres and traditions into a sound that was all his own. It's no wonder the young guitarist generated so much excitement as a foremost member of the Bay Area's fertile music community of the late 1960s.
With the release of his debut album Santana and an incendiary set at Woodstock in 1969, Santana established himself as one of the key artists of the era, gaining worldwide fame for his band's combination of Latin, jazz, blues, rock, and R&B. The new star proved his staying power when Santana remained on the Billboard charts and successors Abraxas and Santana III both reached No. 1.
In 1998, Santana was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In addition to racking up career sales of more than 100 million records, he earned another spot in history books when Supernatural — the multiplatinum 1999 album that included such hits as "Smooth" and "Maria Maria" — won nine Grammy Awards, tying the record for most wins by a single project.
In 2014, he published his best-selling memoir, The Universal Tone: Bringing My Story to Light. Among his recent musical endeavors has been Santana IV, a thrilling album that saw him reunite with musicians from his band's early-‘70s lineup; and Power of Peace, a deeply soulful collaboration with The Isley Brothers.
Santana returned with more new music in 2019. In Search of Mona Lisa is an EP featuring three instrumentals inspired by the awe he felt the first time he saw Leonardo da Vinci's painting during a visit to the Louvre. Santana continues to inspire the same reaction at shows by the current incarnation of the band that bears his name. His team of first-tier players includes drummer Cindy Blackman Santana (Lenny Kravitz, Pharoah Sanders), bassist Benny Rietveld (Miles Davis, Sheila E.), keyboardist David K. Mathews (Tower of Power, Etta James), and percussionist Karl Perazzo (Mariah Carey, Tito Puente).
Santana on Tour
Grammy Award-winning, legendary artists Carlos Santana and Earth, Wind & Fire embark on a North American tour. A continuation of 2019's Supernatural Now tour for Santana, the Miraculous Supernatural 2020 Tour marks the first time these two powerhouses share the stage in the U.S. The Live Nation-produced outing kicks off June 19th in San Diego and makes stops in Los Angeles, Dallas, New York, Chicago, Toronto, and more before wrapping August 29th in Tampa.
Santana, and his band (which also features Santana's wife, Cindy Blackman Santana) highlight songs from both his Supernatural and Woodstock eras, as well as newer tracks from his 2019 full-length album Africa Speaks and some incredible surprises. Earth, Wind & Fire is one of music's most celebrated musical forces in history with an iconic music catalog that has been the soundtrack of millions of lives around the world.
In 2019, Santana celebrated the 20th anniversary of his revolutionary, multiple Grammy Award-wining album Supernatural, along with the 50th anniversary of his Woodstock performance. Santana's 1999 album Supernatural featured the back-to-back No. 1 singles "Smooth" and "Maria Maria" and sold over 30 million copies worldwide, topping the charts in over a dozen countries and sweeping the 2000 Grammy Awards.

One of the most relaxed concerts I have been to where a artist actually LIKES what he is doing!!!!!
Santana is a guitar god. The sound was great for the venue, and Santana puts on a show that you will not forget. He even had some great backdrops. From being at a big salsa party, rock show, the guy is jut amazing. I'm looking foward to seeing him again.
always love to see Winwood...my favorite, only recommendation: introduce your band and keep audience informed! expected Winwood to come back and jam with Santana, instead he left the stage,no encore, to never return again. Also, would have liked him to have the TV monitor as my seat was back aways. On an up note, this was my first time to EVER see Santana and I was NOT DISSAPPOINTED! I WILL go again.
Carlos has not lost his edge or his touch. Still makes the guitar sing like a diva and roar like Victoria Falls. His band was as together rhythmically as any we've ever heard. Satisfying set, long, deep, and wide. Great solos, vocals, and horns. And the percussion was the best ever.
Weather was great! Probably helped the artists put on a great show. My only negative was the sound. It was just too loud. I like to feel the music, but the sound was starting to be painful. Borderline distortion. The music lost its "crispness" because of the over amplification. Performance of Steve Winwood and Santana were awesome. I had my 3 kids there, ages 17-24, and they got to see a real piece of musical history. My son was blown away by the fact that he had heard all of Winwood's songs before, and didn't realize it was Steve Winwood. Santana never plays the songs the same way. That is why you can see him again and again and again, each time a different show.
After listening to this guy for more than forty years I loved the performance. Just plain HOT!!! Stevie Winwood was great. Just a fabulous show.
Excellent concert - only thing that would have been better is if both Santana and Winwood had played a couple of songs together
This concert transported me to back to my late teen years with great memories of carefree times and great music. Santana has only gotten better with time.
This concert was fantastic! Was great to hear the classics from both artist. What can you say about Carlos his music touches the soul. A concert I won't soon forget.
We enjoyed Santana very much, and found him to be an accomplished musician and really got a kick out of watching his fingering on the strings up close on the video side screens. His precussion section rocked. The only downside to the concert was that the volume was way too high, to the point that I felt I was becoming nauseaus. Perhaps I am just geting too old the the rock and roll, but it has been 4 days and my ears have still not recovered!
WHAT A GREAT COMBINATION OF MUSICIANS AND A SPECTACULAR SHOW FRO BOTH ARTISTS
We are concert goers, and we have now rated this one as one of the best, at least in our top three.
From start to finish this show was a heart pumping, feet moving treat. The music was amazing. After all those years Santana still is rockin!
As usual Santana gave a wonderful performance. To our surprise so did Steve Winwood, highly recommend this concert as a must see.
Santana is one of the best entertainers I've seen over the past 4 decades! First time was in the late 1970's. He appeared very nicely ~ a little different from the past concerts, more discussion about harmony, peace, togetherness, etc. which was beautiful. He is a great guitarist and has a band to support him as well.
great event, both acts were incredible. I would go and see both acts again if they come back to Milwaukee.
This was really an incredible show, from start to finish. Steve Winwood opened the show and set the stage. He was just on fire! The crowd was really fired up. He is such a talented and underrated artist. I think he is just as good of a guitarist as Santana. And Steve's regular guitarist, Jose Neto- oh my gosh! He is better than Santana!! Santana's show was great too. He had 10 piece backing band and it was very theatrical. I am going to the Chicago show now too. That is how fantastic it was!
I was surprised that more people weren't there to hear 2 very good guitarist play their hearts and souls out to a crowd. Winwood and his group were excellant and it reminded why I enjoyed his music - his fingers flying across the guitar and then changing to the electric piano effortlessly. What a master of the music and a joy to hear. Then Santana and the group come to the stage. A different type of mastery, fingers flying, different rhythm but just a special and exciting. It was my birthday and in the mix was a hint of "happy birthday". What a treat and he'll never know it. Anyway I would recommend this concert to anyone who loves all music, rhythm, blues, latin and be prepared for your heart to sing!
Steve Winwood was surprisingly better than I've ever heard him. Love his smooth jazz style and he can still belt out a tune. Santana's performance was beyond words. Have seen him live several times and this by far was the best!!!
Steve Winwood was fabulous! What a great artist! Santana did not disappoint! Perfection on guitar! AWESOME!! The percussion section was also especially entertaining. They played longer than I expected. Great crowd interaction....love the venue....perfect Milwaukee night at Summerfest!
