San Antonio Spurs History
The story of the San Antonio Spurs began in the summer of 1973, when a group of local investors leased the Dallas Chaparrals and brought professional basketball to San Antonio. Midway through that first season, the group purchased the team outright, planting the roots of what would become one of the NBA’s most respected franchises.
The Spurs spent their first three seasons in the ABA before joining the NBA in 1976, alongside the Nets, Nuggets, and Pacers. Since entering the league, San Antonio has become a model of sustained success, boasting the second-highest winning percentage (.595) among all NBA teams. Over the decades, the Spurs have captured five NBA championships and 22 division titles.
The team has honored its legends by retiring 10 jersey numbers, including Hall of Famers George "Iceman" Gervin, David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker—all of whom helped define generations of Spurs basketball.
The 2025–26 season marks a significant moment in Spurs history. After 29 seasons as head coach, Hall of Famer Gregg Popovich has transitioned into the role of President of Basketball Operations. Stepping into the head coaching role is Mitch Johnson, officially named the 19th head coach in franchise history after serving as acting head coach for the majority of last season.
On the court the Silver and Black are led by NBA All-Stars Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox. They are joined by Spurs veterans Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell and Jeremy Sochan while Stephon Castle, the NBA’s 2025 Rookie of the Year, returns for his second season. This summer the Spurs added veteran leadership with the additions of Luke Kornet and Kelly Olynyk. The 2025 NBA Draft brought more young talent to San Antonio, including No. 2 overall pick Dylan Harper and No. 14 pick Carter Bryant.

Celtics fan 60+ years. Glad you didn't have pride day like last year.
Great venue inside. Parking lots and traffic are a disater. Rideshare drop off/pickup is a mess. Off book rideshare drivers take up all the curbside parking trying to get customers. The one I spoke to wanted $150 to go to the Crossroads Mall area. Please bring back park and ride!
When I bought tickets I bought two "2 beers for $7"options for my group of 7 figuring that was too good a deal to pass up. However, I found that there was only one concession stand where you could redeem the offer, there were only 3 varieties of beer at that one concession stand, and they only gave you a 6 ounce cup to hold the beer. So, that's actually $7 for 12 ounces of beer, which is a worse deal than their regular $11 for a 20 ounce beer. It also limits your choices of where to buy and what to buy. It seemed like a nice offer, but it was actually a terrible one. One other thing: we were in the 19th row near the tunnel and my son and nephew, huge Wemby fans, had hoped to get as close as he could to the court when we got there for shootaround. However, you need a special lanyard to get close to the tunnel and we didn't know that. So, the kids got to get juuust close enough to see the people with lanyards get high fives from the Spurs as they came in and out.
I bought handicap accessible seats, I see when I paid it didn’t have the tag for accessibility seat. I called ticket master about the issue, they said the seats are accessibility seats. The night of the event, they lied the seats were regular small seats. The area said they couldn’t help. The whole experience was trash.
Go to NBA game was an amazing experience that mi wife and I have been waiting for many years! A dream come true!!!
It was a great experience and there was no issues with my tickets or parking. Thank you.
I love the spurs so I’m glad Ticketmaster got us those tickets best time around! Go Spurs Go!!!!
This was my second time going to a Spurs game and it did not disappoint. My family highly enjoyed the food, drinks, and the entertainment at the game. We will definitely be back!
Amazing venue, great visibility and atmosphere. On entry I had to throw my water away (security). Very long queues to buy anything, even water. When bought one, really unhelpful lady removed the cap from my bottle so I had to drink it almost at once and couldn’t take to the car with me etc. My ticket also included 2 beers. Oh well, you can claim it only in Fan Center with even bigger queues (30 mins at least). Then was told I cannot get it as I don’t have an app and I’m not registered (reception was poor so I couldn’t do it).
I will Never go to another spurs game as long as Pop is the head coach. The nerve on this millionaire to tell the crowd not to boo an opposing team’s player. He is out of touch, out of his prime, and going to waste what could be an All-Star in Wemby. Totally out of line for him to not only think he is ‘wiser than thou’ but to act on it in the middle of a game. Guess I am just not classy enough to attend his games anymore.
My nephew and I enjoyed our time in section 101. We were just a few rows from the away team's bench. One of the announcers took a picture with him so I appreciate that kindness. Only complaint I had was the cold popcorn.
The venue was fine. Of course I wish our seats were closer. But the biggest complaint is that the 2 beers I paid for with my tickets could not be found at a vender. They kept saying to try the next one.
Fantástic the game and great time in family the food and margaritas delicious
Overall good experience with our grandchildren - close game with loss in overtime.
Every staffs at the AT & T center were aswome. The parking lot was little bit messy but still good. Pop corn was terrible but othet foods were fine
There were security screening lines for people without a bag and for those with a bag. Both lines did the same thing; place items in a bowl to be screened while you walk through the metal detector. Why force me to be separated from my husband (I had a bag) if both lines do the same thing?! Dumb.
Game atmosphere and entertainment is great. Concessions very lacking. 9$ for small paper cup fountain drink, apparently they didn't have their act together to have souvenir cups for the first game.
Great atmosphere, lots of food to choose from and plenty places to pick up a drink without the hassle of waiting on a long line!
Truly awesome to have been at a NBA game. Once in a lifetime experience
We enjoyed the Spurs vs. Rockets game on Monday although we did lose in the last 5 minutes! They played again on Wednesday night and they won ! So that was good, just wish I had picked that night to go !
