San Antonio Spurs History
The story of the San Antonio Spurs began in the summer of 1973, when a group of local investors leased the Dallas Chaparrals and brought professional basketball to San Antonio. Midway through that first season, the group purchased the team outright, planting the roots of what would become one of the NBA’s most respected franchises.
The Spurs spent their first three seasons in the ABA before joining the NBA in 1976, alongside the Nets, Nuggets, and Pacers. Since entering the league, San Antonio has become a model of sustained success, boasting the second-highest winning percentage (.595) among all NBA teams. Over the decades, the Spurs have captured five NBA championships and 22 division titles.
The team has honored its legends by retiring 10 jersey numbers, including Hall of Famers George "Iceman" Gervin, David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker—all of whom helped define generations of Spurs basketball.
The 2025–26 season marks a significant moment in Spurs history. After 29 seasons as head coach, Hall of Famer Gregg Popovich has transitioned into the role of President of Basketball Operations. Stepping into the head coaching role is Mitch Johnson, officially named the 19th head coach in franchise history after serving as acting head coach for the majority of last season.
On the court the Silver and Black are led by NBA All-Stars Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox. They are joined by Spurs veterans Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell and Jeremy Sochan while Stephon Castle, the NBA’s 2025 Rookie of the Year, returns for his second season. This summer the Spurs added veteran leadership with the additions of Luke Kornet and Kelly Olynyk. The 2025 NBA Draft brought more young talent to San Antonio, including No. 2 overall pick Dylan Harper and No. 14 pick Carter Bryant.

As always, the Spurs deliver and exciting performance with a nail-biter ending. The pregame and halftime entertainment (Indigenous night) were excellent as was the feature with Patty Mills. Seating, unobstructed views, and sound levels are always great. The only problem was with ordering food at Rock & Brews. The only way to order now is using a self-serve kiosk which requires assistance from an employee (wouldn't it be more efficient to let the employee enter the orders?) because the placement of the items is not always intuitive. One of the three kiosks was out of order. Then a second kiosk would not read the credit card chip and offered no other option (such as entering the card number manually or having the bar employee ring up the order). The employee re-entered my order 7-8 times and eventually called a manager who also entered the order several times and attempted to process the credit card. She then sent the employee to the kitchen to see if the order had been sent. Finally on about the 10th or 11th try, the order was processed; I had already spent about 15 minutes in line and trying to place the order. After another 10 minutes or so, a different employee came from the kitchen to say that my order had not been received, or that only the sandwich name had been received but not the side or drink. So I clarified the side and drink. Then she came back a second time because she forgot what side and drink I'd said. Finally the sandwich arrived, but the delivery employee had to ask the bar employee to please get my drink (a soda). The sandwich itself (Kobe steak special) was not hot; the bread looked great but was actually cold and dry - quite a disappointment - and the steak was very chewy for Kobe. The onion rings were good. This is my second poor experience with the food service at Rock & Brews, so I guess I will not be ordering from that vendor anymore. :(
Great seating a really fun night definitely going again
Sold out because of one of our favorite Spurs Patty Mills. AT&T center was loud and exciting. Seems like the early games are more exciting that’s why I attend them. Fans did not disappoint Patty as all his merchandise was almost sold out! Awesome reception by our Spurs for well deserved player. Our Spurs did not disappoint as they took the victory. One of best Sunday games I’ve attended.
I had a wonderful time at the San Antonio Spurs games...even though they lost a close one it was worth cheering my team! The fans are the best!
Great atmosphere friendly staff all in all great experience
Spurs not intimidated by team with best record and arguably the best player in the league. Great competition
All the atention was nice, and faster the entrance to the San Antonio Spurs Arena because I Hve´d my tickets in the cell phone, i appreciate your attention
Great! Everything is well organized and clean. Personal is very helpful.
the Dec 31st game was a nail bitter, but the Spurs won in OT. I have to say the last Spurs game i went to was back in the early 2000's, so the experience was 100 out of 100. my family and i had a great time!
Game was down to the wire....tied it up last minute and on to overtime....they got the win...great experience... only drawback is the overly expensive concessions. I'm all for profit but paying the price of a 12 pack for a 24 oz beer is kinda ridiculous..
Convenient access to my tickets throughout the phone.
Me and my brother love coming here. We are from LA and come here every year to watch a game. First and foremost I thank Rita. She always is so kind and Is amazing at her job. Me and my brother did not know we needed wristbands to get autographs but she kindly gave me and my brother one and for that I’m forever grateful. We’ll be sure making future trips from now on.
Will-call window way on the opposite side from where I parked. Used to have will-call window on north side also. I know selling one seat is a problem, but I had to either buy two seats where I wanted to sit or pay twice as much for a single seat where I did not want to sit. I chose to buy the two seats. inconsistancy in removing tops off bottles: My Sprite top was removed "by policy" but the people just in front of me going into the seats had tops on their water bottles. Then a Coke bottle bought in the stands remained with its top. (Bottles without tops can spill!)
We arrived in plenty of time and they forgot the shirts at our entrance- any idea how we can get two
Flash back Friday was TONS OF FUN! The dancers, the music took me way back. The whole event was orchestrated beautifully. All but one staff was super friendly and helpful. And the SPURS WON!
It was an excellent game that day both teams did great but the Spurs did better everyone was friendly at the AT&T Center it was a great experience
It was an awesome experience. Great view of the court and Spurs team. And we won a game. I would definitely look to purchase these seats again.
I took myself on vacation to San Antonio Thanksgiving week to catch three Spurs home games. I came a long way and the results weren't what I wanted to see, 1 win out of three games, but the Spurs experience is always great. From the parking lot attendants to the vendors and the store workers, everyone is just so pleasant and nice. The Spurs fans are the best, they stay in their seats until the end of the game even if their team is losing. Wish I lived closer and could experience it more often.
Amazing atmosphere. Great spirit. Great people! GO SPURS GO!
