San Antonio Spurs History
The story of the San Antonio Spurs began in the summer of 1973, when a group of local investors leased the Dallas Chaparrals and brought professional basketball to San Antonio. Midway through that first season, the group purchased the team outright, planting the roots of what would become one of the NBA’s most respected franchises.
The Spurs spent their first three seasons in the ABA before joining the NBA in 1976, alongside the Nets, Nuggets, and Pacers. Since entering the league, San Antonio has become a model of sustained success, boasting the second-highest winning percentage (.595) among all NBA teams. Over the decades, the Spurs have captured five NBA championships and 22 division titles.
The team has honored its legends by retiring 10 jersey numbers, including Hall of Famers George "Iceman" Gervin, David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker—all of whom helped define generations of Spurs basketball.
The 2025–26 season marks a significant moment in Spurs history. After 29 seasons as head coach, Hall of Famer Gregg Popovich has transitioned into the role of President of Basketball Operations. Stepping into the head coaching role is Mitch Johnson, officially named the 19th head coach in franchise history after serving as acting head coach for the majority of last season.
On the court the Silver and Black are led by NBA All-Stars Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox. They are joined by Spurs veterans Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell and Jeremy Sochan while Stephon Castle, the NBA’s 2025 Rookie of the Year, returns for his second season. This summer the Spurs added veteran leadership with the additions of Luke Kornet and Kelly Olynyk. The 2025 NBA Draft brought more young talent to San Antonio, including No. 2 overall pick Dylan Harper and No. 14 pick Carter Bryant.

Tough loss! Spurs fall to the Lakers, but the awesome experience at the AT&T Center more than made up for it. Such an awesome ambiance!!
Trying to redeem the two beers was so difficult. I didn’t even get to redeem the beers. I wouldn’t buy the tickets with the beers.
Charged $30 to park in Handicap Lot 4, check your receipts. First time at a Spurs game in 2 years probably will be a while before we go again.
What a great game! The energy was electric with the close game between the Spurs and the Lakers! While the Spurs enjoyed home court advantage, the surprising number of Lakers fans showed you've got to respect the talent!
Site was super easy to navigate and the process was seamless. Would definitely recommend COVID requirements for specific tickets be included BEFORE checkout or someone could waste a lot of money. I didn’t know I needed to provide COVID vaccine proof when I purchased in order to get in the arena to my near court side seats. Luckily I have a copy of my vaccine card in my phone. If I didn’t have that, this would have been a disaster. I did get an email after purchasing that stated this requirement, but I’m not always in my email and really had no reason to be when I was rushing from work to the game. Simple fix for the site to advise this before purchasing specific tickets. Go Lakers!

Great seats, great price. Will do it again eventually. We had a real good time.

We took our 2 grandsons 13 and 14 to see the SA Spurs and Dallas Mavericks on March 10 in SA ATT Arena and it was amazing and such a wonderful experience. Thank you San Antonio and ATT Arena foe such an amazing experience.
My first trip to San Antonio so I had to take in a live Spurs game! Woot Woot!! Really great fourth quarter but they still lost to the Mavs. If you could make sure they win next time I'm there, that would be fabulous! Thanks so much in advance. P.
