by DD on 10/6/25Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoRating: 5 out of 5

Watching Samara Joy perform is watching the living history of a performer who is only getting better with every day that passes. Anytime she comes to a venue near us we will be there.

Venue was intimate and lovely. Show was incredible. Made for a magical evening.

  • Exquisite

by HoneyB on 10/4/25Moore Theatre - SeattleRating: 5 out of 5

Her performance, band, and songs were impeccable. Her band loves her and she loves her band and it was showcased in the musicianship, arrangements, and love of music they put on display. She is so humble, down to earth, and a joy to listen to. She was working them high heels as well. They were on point.

  • Not the Samara Joy we were expecting.....

by Linebacker on 10/4/25Humphreys Concerts By the Bay - San DiegoRating: 3 out of 5

First the positive. The venue at Humphreys was perfect. Samara has an incredible vocal range and is inspiring even with some of the mediocre tunes she sang. Her five piece band was outstanding but a little overwhelming in volume on several songs. She did engage with the audience but seemed very mechanical and just going through the motions. The highlight of the whole evening was her encore song which came after about five minutes of applause and about one third of the audience having left! Their loss. The song was vibrant and she sang and performed it with maximum energy and enthusiasm. Where was that in the previous one hour and twenty minute set? The audience roared approval but unfortunately that was the end. Most people I spoke to after the concert were as disappointed as I was. I hope she gets her groove back that was demonstrated in her first two albums.

  • The Real Deal

by GtrGrl on 6/9/25Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

This was an excellent concert, and she shows that she's here for the long run, with legit talent and credentials. She has excellent range; her lower register is reminiscent of Sarah Vaughn, lush and smooth. Her diction and breath control give her complete mastery over complex lyrics, rhythms, and dynamics. She also has great stage presence, relaxed, humble, no divatude or gimmickry. Her playlist included a number of "non-standard"standards of the vocal repertoire, with songs by Golson, SunRa, Ellington, Jobim, Billie Holiday, and Monk, including an a capella intro to a Monk tune, and she scatted through "No More Blues". Her septet was excellent, tight, with creative, melodic solos.

by Jayes on 6/8/25Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Fantastic set list and an exceptionally talented band. Aside for a brief interlude, her musical set was non stop with very complex and re-imagined songs. Samara effortlessly navigates song that were previously done by the greatest in Jazz and yet she makes them her own!

  • Spectacular Samara

by PURPLERaye on 6/7/25The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre - DetroitRating: 5 out of 5

🎤✨ My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to artist Samara Joy! With your eyes closed, you’re instantly transported back to an era of classic jazz, reminiscent of legends like Sarah Vaughan and Etta James. Her youthful appearance belies the wisdom and experience in her voice. We had an amazing time and were thrilled to see her live — it was an even better experience our second time at The Aretha in this new season of 2025! The parking was better for this concert—only $20! Urban Orchestra opened up for Samara Joy & did a fantastic job. classically trained youth , showcasing exceptional talent from Detroit. However, I must mention that the DJ in between the headliner and the opening orchestra wasn't great. It felt like she was playing for herself, with no mic or spotlight, and the song choices didn’t get the audience moving as much as you'd hope during those interludes. I hate to say it, but we need DJ Steady Rock back at The Aretha! #SamaraJoy #LiveMusic #Jazz #AmazingExperience
