About

Russell Peters on Tour

The rare North American stand-up comedian who can sell out arenas from L.A. to London to Sydney, Russell Peters returns to the stage with his latest roving revue, dubbed The Deported tour.

The current show features Peters' first set of all-new material since taking a break from stand-up after filming his 2016 Netflix special, Almost Famous (though he was hardly idle during that stretch — on top of starring in a handful of films, Peters also launched his own prime-time series, The Indian Detective, which came to Netflix in 2018).

Despite ascending to rock-star status in the comedy world — complete with dramatic, dry ice–assisted entrances — Peters' routine is still rooted in relatable, everyday anecdotes, as he regularly reenacts amusing family conversations that give his jokes a broad, cross-cultural appeal.

Russell Peters Background

Raised in the suburbs of Toronto by Anglo-Indian parents, Russell Peters is a true 21st-century comedian, with a massive international following that reflects the connectivity of our world in the online age. And he actually owes his big break to the Internet.

After paying his dues on the Canadian stand-up circuit for 15 years, Peters became one of the first comedians to go viral — in 2004, clips of his Comedy Now special began circulating on the then-nascent YouTube platform, with his astute observations on racial stereotypes earning him fans across the cultural spectrum.

Since then, Peters has sidestepped the traditional Hollywood star-making machinery to cultivate audiences in places most North American comedians never venture — countries like Lebanon, Singapore, and Indonesia.

Despite never starring in a massive film or TV series like Jerry Seinfeld or Chris Rock (who once quipped that Peters is "the most famous person nobody's heard of"), he orbits the same stratosphere when it comes to selling tickets. In 2013, Forbes magazine ranked him the third-richest comedian in the world with annual earnings of more than $20 million. However, in recent years, Peters has made significant inroads to becoming a household name in America, thanks to his well-received 2016 Netflix special, Almost Famous.

    Absolutely Hilarious

    by MilVet_2469 on 7/11/23

This was my first in person comedy show in many years. Russel Peters was true to his style of “no holding back” comedy. Not only was I in tears but my mouth and jaw hurt from laughing and smiling the entire show. I only wish I could thank him for helping save my life while dealing with severe PTSD for the past nearly 20 years. Thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing happiness and laughter back into my life.

    Hilarious

    by AK on 7/11/23

Russell Peters’ “Act Your Age” show was hilarious!! We laughed from the moment he stepped on the stage until he said good night. Seriously one of the best sets we’ve seen live & I go to a decent amount of comedy shows (local & big name). Worth every penny! His DJ played great music from the 80s & 90s (some songs I had forgotten how much I loved)! Russell is really good on the fly too. Picked people right out of the first 5 rows, asked them questions & seamlessly wove their responses into his jokes. Comedic GOLD!! We were in the 7th row & my husband said “Those were good seats. I’m glad we didn’t sit any closer LOL!” Can’t wait for this tour to be available on Blu-ray or streaming so we can laugh all over again! We’ll definitely catch Russell when he comes back to our area!

Great Performance & Venue (strange logistics)

    by Trina on 7/11/23

Russell and his opening comedian were great! I've been a fan of Russell for about 8 years now and it was cool seeing his evolution over the years. Not all of the jokes were for me, but that was okay considering that the show was dynamic and had something for everyone. >> The Venue at Thundervalley was clean with plenty of ushers and ease of access to bathrooms and drinks. >> Logistically, you have to wall across the street from a seperate parking lot to get to the venue, only to be taken through a roundabout way through a smokey casino. I was pregnant and nearly suffocated just taking this route. Anyone sensitive to smoke for health reasons beware!

    Enjoyable show

by Igor on 6/26/23Paramount Theatre - Seattle

We really enjoyed our time at Russell Peters show at Paramount. He really takes pride in his craft and works with the audience really well. He made us cry laughing at some of his bits. He left no prisoners regardless of your cultural background or status. The opening act was also good. Great start to the show which flowed nicely into some of Russell's material. Almost no vulgarity, so was appropriate for everyone.

Russell Peters is refreshing in that he ignores the "politically correct" and involves the audience in a fun way.

We love his style of humor. He is much "cleaner" than many other big-name comedians. We laughed all through the show. His lead guy was pretty funny also.

by Misha on 6/21/23San Diego Civic Theatre - San Diego

We love Russel Peters! he's the first comedian that introduced me to stand up comedy back in the days. This was the first time we watch him live and it was awesome! The theater was huge and the service was great. even the gentlemen seating us were very kind and respectable and the employees that checked us in an lead us into the garage were all nice and professional. I would totally go back.

Spontaneous improv, tied together with rehearsed material

by PhilP on 6/21/23San Diego Civic Theatre - San Diego

I think Russell Peters is extremely talented. His ability to be funny on the fly is incredible. Personally, I prefer a rehearsed set, but Peters did a really good job of being funny spontaneously tying it together with rehearsed material. I would definitely see him again.

by MDrob on 6/20/23Terrace Theater - Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center - Long Beach

Russell Peters is one of the greatest comedians of his generation. I have seen him twice before, and the Act Your Age Tour is the best one yet. I couldn’t recommend it more.

A bit disappointing, not his usual hilarious schtick

by J. C. on 6/19/23Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas - Las Vegas

I was going there wanting to hear Russell Peters perform funny things about different cultures and his family life, the things that drew me to his comedic style. It seemed as if maybe he was a bit bored with performing in that way, so he started engaging with the audience. He was funny with his interaction, but I only started really enjoying it when he started performing his material instead of improv. That's what I wanted to hear from him and that's what I did not hear so much. Therefore I was disappointed, enjoyed some of his act. However, not a standing ovation type of enjoyed it - that I was expecting.
