I am definitely a fan of Russell's films and tv appearances, but did not know what to expect from this show, (and was honestly a little pessimistic about it since he's grown kind of preachy in the last year or so but figured, what the heck.) SO GLAD I WENT- it was great!!
I think he still needs some polish but this was a very well thought out, and a thought provoking show and DEFINITELY FUNNY. The audience was in very a good mood, which can make or break his shows. He was definitely as delightfully vulgar as one would expect and did some of his classic shtick where he wonders into the audience and cops a feel or two. ;-). He is humble enough to poke fun at himself, and did frequently. He put up some pretty unflattering photos of himself and let us all laugh away at them. He is also quick to admit to his own hypocrisy when it applies. After the show ended he stayed in the audience for a significant time at the end of the show - just being cool with his fans.
only buzz kill is when he started in on someone in the first row (we couldn't see what the issue was - we assumed someone must have been talking on the phone) and threatened to have them thrown out. The offender was being rude yes, but you risk losing the good will of the audience by reacting that way I think. Everyone in my immediate area was visibly uncomfortable with the exchange. I don't think anyone is paying to see him behave that way regardless of what the offender was doing. was pretty uncool actually. just my .02 cents. Fortunately, it was over quickly.
but otherwise. had a really great time!
