Rush was awesome- as usual!!
by pjcm on 8/2/15Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre (formerly Verizon Wireless Amph) - IrvineRating: 5 out of 5I admittedly haven't followed Rush's recent material as much as their older stuff. The R-40 concert was done in reverse, including at least one track from most of their albums except for a few (Power Windows, Test for Echo, etc..). The choice of songs was for the most part excellent, with the tastiest tracks thrown in from the most recent releases, as well as a song or two you would never expect them to do these days (Natural Science, Lakeside Park, etc...) Their quirky humor and tendency to not take themselves seriously showed in the video vignettes played throughout, and made for a fun night. The opening vignette, while fun, shows how they evolved over the 40 years, and came with an accompanying bit soundtrack of their songs through the various periods. This gave me chills, as they are easily one of the hardest working, most creative, humble and talented bands that have ever graced our planet!
