Rolling Stone magazine hailed Wainwright as the Best New Artist that year citing this album as one of the best of 1998. The album also won several awards from the Gay & Lesbian American Music Awards and a GLAAD Media Award. The nine albums which followed were: Poses in 2001, Want One in 2003, Want Two in 2004, Release the Stars and Rufus Does Judy at Carnegie Hall both in 2007, Milwaukee at Last!!! in 2009, All Days Are Nights: Songs for Lulu in 2010, House of Rufus in 2011 and Out of the Game in 2012.

    Rufus Was Amazing

by hilliew on 1/10/10Terrace Theater - Long Beach Convention Center and Entertainment - Long Beach

He was incredible. So talented and great songs from all the albums including the newest. The only disappointment for me is that he had no band or back up singers. It was just him, his voice, his guitar and his piano.

    Rufus Was Awesome!

by beachhgirl on 1/10/10Terrace Theater - Long Beach Convention Center and Entertainment - Long Beach

I'm a huge Rufus fan & have seen him live several times. With the wide range of his voice & his expert piano playing, it is always a musical experience to watch him. Because he writes his own songs, and they all have some sort of meaning, it is so interesting to see what he choses to play. The Webb Sisters opened for him, playing for 30 minutes. After a 30 min break, Rufus played for over 90 minutes, solo, and then played a few encore songs. If you're a Rufus fan, or just not that familiar with him, I encourage you to see him live. You definitely will be impressed & entertained. Not recommended for children due to some language content.

    Rufus Wainwright

by nmdunn on 1/10/10Terrace Theater - Long Beach Convention Center and Entertainment - Long Beach

It was a really good show. It was well organized and even though I was in the back, the sound was great. I really loved the opening band, The Webb Sisters, they were terrific! I am looking up dates to possibly see them in LA. Rufus was a lot of fun. This was the first time I had seen him live, and he was wonderfully human and very open with the audience. Plus-he is a really good performer. The show started on time and the break was just the right length to get souveniers, a drink and meet the opening band after their set. Parking was also really easy. Great night! I really enjoyed it.

    Rufus is the man!

by lrandg on 1/10/10Terrace Theater - Long Beach Convention Center and Entertainment - Long Beach

His creative genius sheds light on a world badly in need of this energy. I have been waiting for the chance to see him and was not disappointed. Rufus goes where few go. The Webb Sisters are amazing too. Now I am waiting for Rufus and Cohen to do a concert together!

    Rufus concert...superior...all of it!

by ONDEK on 8/18/09Longwood Gardens - Kennett Square

Rufus's talent blew me away--again--translating beautifully from cd, to full band, to solo...loving these solo performances. Longwood Gardens and a perfect evening made everything incredible. As usual, RW dished out his signature blend of relaxed stage presence and amazing artistic ability. Good to see Ruf is still human...and still the master of charming recoveries on the random screw-ups. "Gay Messiah" and the fountains came at the perfect moment...in the end. Come again soon, Mr. Wainwright.

    Gorgeous Gardens, Pleasantly Plucky Performance

by Schmikey on 8/17/09Longwood Gardens - Kennett Square

I grew up in Kennett Square, "Mushroom Capial of the World". It's also located in one of the most conservative countys in Pennsylvania. Imagine my delight when Rufus, dressed in the cutest jeans and crisp white jacket, took to the microphone, dedicated his first song to "the healthcare debate in this country" and sang Gong to a Town. Priceless. He continued his brilliant performace with an well rounded mix of old and new. Though I stand by my 5 stars, Rufus did have is forgetful moments. He restarted several songs after he couldn't remember the intros, or started in the wrong key. On the surface, this may seem unprofessional - but it was charming. It showed that Rufus is an imperfect human, just like the rest of us. His final encore was Gay Messiah. Considering the overly conservative area, again another great ironic statement.

We love Rufus! Our 2nd show.

by Michaela315 on 8/15/09Longwood Gardens - Kennett Square

Rufus was amazing! This was our second show. The gardens were spectacular! We got lost on the way. Suggestion: don't use mapquest. We plan to visit the gardens again. We also loved Lucy Wainwright Roche. She was charming and very talented. We will absolutley attend any of his events in the future! We adore his music!!!

Rufus was great - environment was awful

by Anticellphonepix on 8/14/09Longwood Gardens - Kennett Square

Great concert, but the taking of photos & people with their cell phones snapping pictures with their arms in the air was so distracting & annoying that I couldn't wait for the concert to end.

    Rufus was spectacular

by BinnieM on 8/11/09Longwood Gardens - Kennett Square

Hey Rufus! Thanks for another glorious performance! Wayne and I were there for our 10th or so show. We both love you and your enormous talent. We loved every minute of the show. Not everyone can be singing while hummingbirds are flitting around or when five or six geese soar above. Truly a magnificent source of pleasure for us. YOU ROCK! And we so enjoyed Lucy and her wonderful sense of humor and clear sweet voice. You never disappoint. Love the short hair and got the sense that you must be feeling as wonderful as you look and sound! Thanks again, Binnie

    Rufus and Lucy were awesome!!

by Cowie on 8/7/09Longwood Gardens - Kennett Square

It was a perfect evening and a beautiful setting to hear and see Lucy Wainright Roche and of course, her brother, Rufus Wainwright. The sound system was great and their voices were in fine form. I loved their song selection. One of the best outdoor concerts that I have ever seen.

    Rufus was awesome!

by mela13 on 8/7/09Longwood Gardens - Kennett Square

The only drawback was that this performance was taped for TV, so the performance was a little stiff and structured...Rufus didn't get to tell enough of his funny anecdotes.

    Rufus under a full moon

Beautiful night in the outdoor theater at Longwood Gardens. Perfect weather, great acoustics, appreciate crowd. Rufus was in great voice and played a nice mix of old & new material. Sister Lucy was the opening act, and delighted the audience with her voice and wit.

The best show of the summer!!!

by Annushcka on 8/7/09Longwood Gardens - Kennett Square

Rufus is quite a performer!!! I would recommend the show to all romantically involved couples, or if you really want to hit it up. The idea of a concert at the night park was totally perfect! We want to see it again!!!
