RÜFÜS DU SOL on Tour
The Australian electro act RÜFÜS DU SOL can fill massive venues and their stage show reimagines their catalog accordingly. Tyrone Lindqvist, Jon George and James Hunt operate as a three-piece band, a setup that allows them to expand and contract their undulating songs in thrilling ways — drum solos, locked-in jamming, extended intros and outros. Their musicianship and stunning stage setup gives audiences a brand-new understanding of even their most familiar songs. Case in point: their 2019 Coachella performance of the song "Underwater" was accompanied by a 360-degree visual work helmed by master video director James Frost.
RÜFÜS DU SOL in Concert
The three men who make up RÜFÜS DU SOL started playing music together by chance. When a 2010 vacation day in Byron Bay, Australia, was plagued by rain, the trio decided to use their time inside to write a song. That kicked off a nearly decade-long partnership that has taken the trio around the world playing house-influenced bangers for delighted crowds.
RÜFÜS DU SOL took the "new year, new you" mandate seriously on New Year's Day 2011, when they released their debut EP, Rüfüs. Two tracks from the album, the thumping "Paris Collides" and the swirling "We Left," were embraced by music blogs. Their 2012 EP Blue included the brooding "This Summer" and featured eclectic production touches like a five-cent coin being used as a guitar pick.
RÜFÜS DU SOL's full-length debut, Atlas, came out in 2013 and went to No. 1 on the Australian Albums Chart while garnering them multiple ARIA Award nominations. While they wouldn't win a trophy until 2015, when the single "You Were Right" picked up the Best Dance Release award, the nominations established them as one of Australia's most renowned electronic acts. RÜFÜS DU SOL relocated to Los Angeles in 2016, and the two albums that followed their move, 2016's Bloom and 2018's Solace, showcased their growth as songwriters and sonic explorers, keeping their beats steady while expanding the universe surrounding them.
Venue sounded great and had a beautiful backdrop. Rufus is always awesome.
My wife and I really love RDS. We went and saw them at the Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville and it was very cold. Glad they decided to come back through Cincinnati. The venue was beautiful. Got to stand pretty close to the stage. It was a good night
Awesome. Best outdoors concert ever. Although if the stage was on the field rotation like ed Sheeran that moved during his concert, all seats could have been sold and not blocked off in the other end zone!
This was the 1st time Rufus Du Sol and monolink has ever performed in cincinnati. Hands Down, it was one of the best concerts I've ever been too! They will most definitely be back because cincy was going crazy! 🔥 💣 💪
The concert was very crowded. It wouod bee nice to have fans and air flow
Truly the best concert I’ve ever been too. I just recently started to listen to more dance/house/edm music and this was such a perfect first concert for that. Light show was amazing!! Rain or shine they were there!
TCU is an exceptional venue but RÜFÜS du sol was an exceptional concert. Talented and extremely creative, yet never redundant like some EDM artists can get. Their visuals/ lighting, laser show was outstanding. I’d see them over and over and over!!!
Icon festival stage is a PERFECT spot for a concert! Easy parking, short walk, and a beautiful view of the bridge. Rufus was incredible and put on the best show I’ve seen
Awesome band, venue, and experience!! Love Rufus!!
Great show! Wish it we’re inside. The rain made it uncomfortable.
Great show. Very live and honest. Played their better known songs, but reworked quite a few of the songs for the live show, and that was super fun. Thanks for coming to Cincinnati.
Monolink opened and got the party started. Wasn't familiar with his music, but now a fan! Rufus du Sol was amazing! Hope they come back again! The sound and lights were magical with the Cincy views as a backdrop. The venue was great, with easy access to restrooms and concessions. The crowd was awesome! No obnoxious behavior. They came for the music and enjoyed!
Music was great, venue was clean and the crowd was perfect for the size. As a 60 year old and out of my element, I felt welcome and enjoyed the fellow concert goers!! Thank you
Perfect performance by RÜFÜS DU SOL. I will be going to every show of theirs in the area. The lights, music, vocals, everything is only positive feedback.
Good times were had by all! The vibes were incredible. I don't know what it is about TCU but the staff is always amazing and Rufus was so fantastic
This show was so much fun! The energy was amazing and the music was incredible!
Both the opener and Rufus were REALLY into the fog machines, like...REALLY into them. I was in the balcony and I'm not sure if it was just more intense because I was elevated, but it was so foggy that the lobby outside of the venue also had a thick haze, and it wasn't because the crowd was smoking/vaping either. I'm not sure if Rufus is used to outdoor venues, or if MGM Fenway just didn't have adequate ventilation to keep up with it, but it was so foggy it was distracting. Aside from that, the show itself was great!
Second time seeing Rufus live. Show was as good as I remembered. Looking forward to a southern tour, flew in to Cinci from Houston just for this show. Zero regrets. My wife isn’t an EDM fan and had an incredible time. Sound could have been louder and concession times were ridiculous; the important stuff was great though.
Expected better. Was too quiet and sounded super mid
It was an amazing experience. The music and the songs were what I expected and more. They played their great and more recent songs - Innerbloom, New Sky, Devotion, On My Knees, You Were Right, etc. The lighting and effects were 1st class and out of this world. Also Tyrone Lindqvist was personable and humble - the band overall did such a great job. The only negative was that the base was too loud up front - I was in the front in the pit. The vibrations blurred the other sounds of the music - so I wasn’t getting the full musical work - which is quite intricate when they play. I had to close my ears to hear the other instruments. Recommendation - sound wise it is probably better in the balcony. Overall for me it was 5 stars - will certainly go again for sure - but this time in the balcony.
