    Jumping class starts so late!

by CarolynLA on 11/12/23Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

Could have done without the entertainment if ideally the jumping class was earlier. It’s what I go to see and a few of the other classes is okay but wish it didn’t start so late. Really the entertainment class isn’t necessary.

Enjoyed three days at the Royal Winter Fair watching friends compete as well as seeing champions in all types of competions. Wonderful event and can't wait to come back next year!

What happened to the good old days?

by Mac on 11/11/23Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

Overly expensive. Way less vendors and activities every year. Lots of free time where more entertainment or activities could be done.

    Fun and expensive!

by Dan on 11/11/23Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

Bring your pocket book. This is a very entertaining event. We watched the 7:00 horse show and checked out the vendors. Lots of vendors to choose from and great food!

We enjoyed a taste of Torinto

by KK on 11/8/23Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

We spent 1 day at the fair. We had tickets for the afternoon and evening shows. Event /jumping. We knew Guy McLean would be there as well and love watching him. Such a diverse event- Vets, 4H, vendors, beer, honey, stock competition. If course we sampled much of the tasty fare and loved the tarts, poutine and peameal sandwiches. Great time, something for everyone.

    Fun night

by Jalo on 11/8/23Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

Horse show was great. I loved all the indoor evening. Hackney. Show jumping and Australian cowboy demo. Main vendor fair part was just ok. I miss the huge number of equine related vendors of 10+ years ago. It’s more of a flea market vibe in the vendor area.

    Good rodeo but poorly planned

by Bob on 11/16/22Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

We went for the rodeo, as we have seen it for years and always enjoy it. In general very good, but some annoyances... The lighting is poor in the arena. We know it can be turned up, but for some reason it is always low. The music is stupid. Heavy metal versions of wussy songs like "All about the bass" are just dumb. And then cranking it when the bull/horse/rider is doing their thing, so much that you can't hear the announcers, just doesn't work. And the endless selling of the Heartland tv show was just annoying as well. We went to see a rodeo, not a Heartland commercial.

Rodeo got off to a very slooooow painful start

by Dusty Roads on 11/16/22Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

I bought tickets to the rodeo the day they went on sale. We were told to get there early as it starts at 1pm and is popular. We - me, my wife and grandsons - were in our seats at 12:45pm. At 1pm there was an announcement that the start would be delayed so people (who were late) could get to their seats. This was followed by more announcements of delays. Then the host came out and made small talk, some horses ran around the arena. The video board didn't seem to be working. He was then joined by an actress from a TV show. We know the name of this show because she mentioned it over a dozen times. They decided to make small talk about the show, Alberta, her life, then dividing the arena into two sides, East and West, so teams captained by the hosts could compete (Why?) and followed it by introducing virtually every person involved. An hour after we were in our seats the rodeo had not yet started. Brutal. When it did start it was fine but you need to rethink how this was organized. PIck up the pace. It's supposed to be exciting not an ad for Heartland.

    Rodeo 2022

by Norapoo on 11/16/22Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

The Rodeo has always been a tradition in my family and I was so glad to be back after a brief hiatus because of COVID. I was disappointed to see that the spotlight was on Amber and not the fact that this was the 100th Anniversary of The Royal. In my opinion the pomp and ceremony should have been in celebration of The Royal and not that Amber has another season in Heartland. Let’s make the Rodeo about the Rodeo.

    Explanations

by Rosie on 11/11/22Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

It would be helpful and more interesting if there was commentary on what the judges are looking for in each class. For example, the hackney ponies.

    Its Tradition

by Ali on 11/9/22Coca-Cola Coliseum - Toronto

I love going every year and was so happy to see it return for its 100th year. The food offering wasn't as great nor as many different types of animals but we did enjoy what we saw. I have to say that when we went on Sunday, the last Go train back to union at around 6pm didn't work out well with the Horse Show going on later than scheduled. We wanted to see the mounted police parade (that was not advertised or talked about very well during the show) but had to leave to catch the train. During the show, there was no mention of the upcoming parade and people filtered out. I hope someone got to stay and enjoy it.
