Great concert. Ronnie Laws, Roy Ayers everyone did a great job.
It was great to see legends take the stage and perform an outstanding show. The opening act was also outstanding.
I wish they could have stayed on longer but i don believe one of the acts was late arriving to venue
Wonderful concert, wonderful drinks, and wonderful food.
Roy Ayers has a good sense of humor. Music excellent, good old music, music everyone can relate to. A mixed crowd of people, enjoyed myself. Everyone has the same idea, enjoy the music and relax.
Really enjoyed the show. First time at the renovated Howard Theater. Really nice venue. Looking forward to attending more performances there! Also like the general seating, but you can only sit in the balcony if there are four of you at a table to eat. That isn't fair!!
Great show. Great venue. Needs a better food selection.
Best concert I attended this year with 3 acts!! Roy Ayers is a great arranger and even a poet. The band was great, especially his multi-talented saxophonist who also sang and played the piano (sometimes at the same time).
Beautiful event loved all acts. Would do it all over.
It was by chance that I seen the name Roy Ayers was going to be in the Atl. It was by chance that I was able to secure the tickets for this event. But it was a blessing to see an icon that I have followed for 40 years in person. Thanks Roy.
Roy and his guys were magnificent! His musical talents and singing is like a fine wine that gets better with age. Love him!
Nothing like seeing living legend performing live. One complaint I have was the saxophone player had too much "air time". He sometimes tried to take over the show and forgot that he was basically a member of the band and not the featured act. But otherwise great show.
Good show just don't over expect. Played new music, not much old stuff.
I was under the impression that this was suppose to be smooth jazz. There was very little actual smooth jazz played.
We had a fantastic time at this concert! The prices were very reasonable AND it started on time (bonus). Great for a date, solo or with friends.
The group enjoyed their peformance, they could have played more of their hits.Instead they spent alot of time interplaying amongst each other. But for a $35 ticket price it was an exceptable performance.
I cant say enough about Roy Ayers legend and his musical catalog. However I really feel that his performance in Akron was lacking. Mr. Ayers you cant come to Akron and not perform sings like "Running away", "Searching", or "You send me". The band that played with him was great however instead of doing solos and Coltrane the focus should have been Roy Ayers music. This is what we paid to see not his band promoting their chops. He played here about three years ago and it was great. No offense to his band but people aren't going to see Roy Ayers to hear you play anything but Roy Ayers music...
Roy Ayers and his band performed an amazing show this past Saturday at the Ritz, in Jacksonville, FL. We were not disappointed!!
Roy is still the best in his art love his show after all these years
have listened to and enjoyed Roy Ayers music for a long time. definitely wanted to hear more. his band was cookin', Tom Browne was an added bonus, and i do mean bonus. he made the remakes he did his own. funkin for jamaica rocked the house! it was obvious to me that both Roy Ayers and Tom Browne appreciated their audiences. my only wish would be that the songs be performed closer to the originals with background singers. Ayers' song "You Send Me" and Tom Brownes Funkin for Jamaica performed as a duet with background singers would have been something to see. overall though it was entertaining and i would see them both again.
