About

Roger Waters found international fame as a founding member of legendary progressive rock band Pink Floyd. Selling over 250 million albums worldwide and being inducted into both the British and American Rock & Roll Halls Of Fame, Pink Floyd is one of the most influential bands of the 20th century. Roger Walters has also had tremendous success as a solo artist, releasing three studio albums and touring extensively all across the globe.
Roger was the creative force behind the prime years of Pink Floyd's impressive run. From the classic album The Dark Side Of The Moon in 1968 until Final Cut in 1983, Walters was responsible for the lyrics, arrangement and concept behind every album they released. By the time he left the band in 1985 they had been firmly established as one of the most critically acclaimed and best selling bands in popular music history. Albums such as The Dark Side Of The Moon and The Wall are some of the best selling albums of all time and still sell literally thousands of copies every year to this day.
After leaving Pink Floyd he moved into solo projects with albums such as Radio K.A.O.S and Amused To Death, once again concept albums in his unique style. In 1990 just after the fall of the Berlin Wall, he staged his most elaborate concert ever with a giant outdoor performance in Berlin where the Wall once stood. Featuring guest performances from the likes of Bryan Adams, Joni Mitchell and Cyndi Lauper, the concert registered an official attendance of over 200,000 people. The official live album, titled The Wall - Live, was released shortly afterwards and quickly went Platinum. This period of his career also saw Roger collaborate with artists such as Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck on various projects.
After taking a seven year break from both public eyes and the music industry, Roger returned with a bang in 1999 with a tour that started small and quickly grew. With more modest venues quickly selling out, more dates and larger venues were quickly added as the return tour expanded worldwide. For over three years Roger toured the world, culminating with a performance in front of over 70,000 at Glastonbury Festival in 2002. In 2005 Pink Floyd played together for one last time at charity event Live 8. Roger has continued his solo tours on and off since then, often performing special arrangements of Pink Floyd material mixed with his solo work.

    Waters is a genius!

by Hellather on 10/18/10XL Center - Hartford

This show was everything I thought it would be--absolutely amazing!! The Wall was that one album that changed my life when I first heard it, and seeing the imagery from the man who created it was incredible. If only the remaining 3 would reunite for one last tour...

    The Wall: Live

by Codamelis on 10/18/10XL Center - Hartford

Great show! Our seats weren't so great, as we were on the side of the stage. When they say "limited view" they aren't kidding! But still truly an experience not to be missed!

Roger Waters: The Wall Live was stupefying!

by Jobena on 10/18/10XL Center - Hartford

I've seen Pink Floyd and both Roger Waters and David Gilmour individually in the past. This show blew all those performances away! It was a religious experience. I can't believe it came and went already!

The Wall still stands the test of time

by jubalshire on 10/18/10XL Center - Hartford

I attended Roger Waters' The Wall tour at the XL Center in Hartford, Ct. The show opened to all the dramatic flare of the live show from the 80's....pyrotech flares, flashing lights, loud music and a WW2 airplane crashing right on cue. Everything from a Roger Waters show has a purpose and is brought out like clockwork to make your experience more connected to the main character named Pink. The tortured and twisted journey that this story takes is both beautiful and sad to witness. The main difference between this new tour and the one from the 80's is the location of the Wall. As each song is sung by Waters and company, It is constructed right in front of you as the story unfolds...block by block until it stands alone by the end of the first act, blocking your view of the band and the stage entirely. Various imagery is shown on the wall all thoughout the performance and adds to the dept of the music. There is an intermission of about twenty minutes before the second act begins. The second act begins with the classic song "Hey you" and the Wall now acts as a full screen and it almost takes on the feeling that you've went to the movies instead of a concert. Every now and then Roger comes out from behind the wall to continue to sing to the audience directly; but, by this point, you can't SEE the band playing anymore. It made me feel a little disconnected from the whole experience, and the magic kind of faded from the show for me; but, that was only temporary. As the show heads into the dramatic climax and the Wall comes apart and lays in ruins before you, you become aware of how effective the whole performance had been. By the end, Roger Waters had pulled it off once more; his musical genius shines as brightly now as it did when he first wrote it more than thirty years ago.... Music like the Wall still stands the test of time. Thank you Roger for an amazing night!

by Molcin on 10/18/10Verizon Center - Washington

I have attended roughly between 50 to 60 concerts in my lifetime and the Roger Waters ``The Wall Live`` was the best show I have ever seen! I am hoping to atttend at least one more production of this show before the tour ends.

    Great Show

by WhoTookMyMarbles on 10/18/10XL Center - Hartford

A blast! If you can get tickets to any of the remaining shows, you should make every effort to go! When buying tickets, keep in mind that much of this show is best seen straight on (projections on The Wall equivalent to watching TV from an angle). Although back of the house tickets might seem far away, they might actually be better than side seats a little closer.

    Unbelievable

    by bluesman3141 on 10/18/10XL Center - Hartford

I've been to a lot of shows over the years and I think this was the best one I've been to. Huge production, perfect sound quality (including surround sound), and great versions of the songs. The technology used with the high definition projections on the wall were mindblowing. Tickets were expensive but were worth every dime of it; obviously a lot of money was put into making the show. Definitely go check it out if you can

    Absolutely Amazing

    by Jenny5183 on 10/18/10XL Center - Hartford

This show was visually and audibly amazing. The building up of the wall, the projections, the props and Roger Waters himself were mind blowing. Its been several days and I still cant stop thinking about the show. It was something I will never forget and was honestly the best concert I have ever been to.

    Short show. Sound was mediocre.

by noyfb on 10/18/10XL Center - Hartford

The show was ok. Honestly it was a bit of a disappointment. RW played The Wall with all visuals and theatrics but nothing else. Some of the sound was questionable. I saw RW on Pro’s & Con’s as well as Momentary Lapse of Reasoning and these shows were way better musically. I have also have seen David Gilmore many times with Floyd and without. This show unfortunately was not musically as good as any of the other shows. Honestly for the price and quality of the show, I felt ripped off. Sorry Roger but the show was flat.

Waters raised the ceiling and the Wall!!!

    by DarkKnight08 on 10/18/10XL Center - Hartford

Roger and his band were flawless in re-creating the wall for us and the visuals and stage show were top notch. It was refreshing to see this 30 year old recording brought back to life with a new state of the art production. It was really like being at a Broadway musical with a massive concert hall persona. Roger while he isn't exactly Mick Jagger up there, performs with great energy, enthusiasm and excitement and emotion for someone in his late 60's. It was truly an honor to see this legend perform a legendary piece of music that is timeless and still moving to this day. This show was well worth the $250 I laid down for the 3rd row center seats. I just wish that Roger had a couple encores in him!!! That was my one complaint...he did the Wall and then said good night. Thanks for a great show Roger and band!!!

The Best show I have ever seen!!

by ezeastside on 10/18/10XL Center - Hartford

This is my second time seeing Roger Waters. I left the first show (Dark Side Of The Moon) thinking this is the best show ever. Well They topped it. "THE WALL" was by far a legendary, amazing , and well put together stage performance of its time. I am proud to tell people I went and had a fantastic time.
