    A fantastic experience.

    by Mad Dog on 8/23/23

This tour wasn’t promoted properly- this is McGwinn’s One Man show, and he hit it out of the park! A blend of anecdotes, song, rock history. McGwinn was the sole performer for two hours. He sounds just the same, and looks great. We were delighted by his show; learned many new things, lived his music, and, as usual, his phenomenal guitar skills. I can’t say enough positive about his show:DON’T MISS THIS! I have been to hundreds of concerts/shows throughout the years, and this will always rank near the top. Thank you, Roger McGwinn!

    Still the best

by pettyman on 10/3/21Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

nice relaxing show with the big Byrds hits and old folk music. Its roger mcguinn solo with 3 guitars and a banjo. Great stories on how he started, the the people he met on his rise in rockdom. He still brings it in his guitar playing and singing. See him if he is around your area.

    Going Back

by Robert on 7/22/21Scherr Forum- B of A Performing Arts Center, Thousand Oaks - Thousand Oaks

He still has the voice and the charisma. This was an evening that was literally worth waiting a year-and-a-half to see, given pandemic postponements, as Roger entertained with so many songs (well done!) and memories. So enjoyed his format that including a synopsis of his career and song highlights. A few times I closed my eyes and it was tantamount to hearing his old records again--he has not lost his vocal quality at 79 years of age! The encore with Chris Hillman was a special treat and, at the end of the evening, my friend and I realized how lucky we were to be a part of this unique event. Highly recommended for anyone that used to listen to someone who truly made music. Beautiful time.

    McGuinn is the Byrds!

    by DB on 8/20/19

Roger McGuinn concert is a great experience. Even without a back up band he still sounds like the Byrds. Perfect voice, wonderful guitar playing. He is the Byrds. Major talent fed up with big tours and.record companys. Tours with his wife Camilla along. Go see him!

    Quality music performance

by cgwjax on 3/27/19Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra Beach

This was a very intimate show with Roger sharing the stories behind the songs. His musicianship was outstanding playing acoustic, electric, and 12 string acoustic. Great song selection including hits from the Byrds, his solo recorded songs, and the country rock from Sweetheart f the Rodeo. This is the 3rd time I've seen him at Ponte Vedre concert hall and will continue to see him anytime he comes back this way. I am a fan!

An Evening With Roger McGuinn in Concert

by Baby Boomer Walt on 3/19/19Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra Beach

Live about an hour and half south of Ponte Vedra, but always check out the concert schedule. Roger McGuinn was a definite yes. The show was wonderful. Rodger's use of a time line to intro his songs was informative and nostalgic. The man is still one of the top best five guitarists in the world. Only negative aspect for me was sound quality on the stand up mike, but since Roger mostly played and sang at the sitting mic, it was a minor sleight. Ending with the Irish Blessing with the traditional melody topped the show. Thanks to a wonderful and welcoming staff at the Concert Hall.

    Master Guitar!

by Red Branch on 3/19/19Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra Beach

What a terrific one man show put on by the especially talented Roger McGuinn! An engaging storyteller, a virtuoso guitar player, and with that unique voice he captivated the audience for over 2 hours. All of his best music from a multi-decade career was on display and no one was left wanting. A true pioneer of rock and folk music, he left everyone better for having attended such an enjoyable evening.

    Not what I expected.

by Gr8fulPete on 3/19/19Ponte Vedra Concert Hall - Ponte Vedra Beach

This show was not at all what I expected. I figured that he would have a band of some description and play a bunch of old Byrds tunes. I was only partially correct. Roger came on stage by himself with only several guitars and a banjo. He proceeded to entertain us with stories of how the Byrds came to be and of his early days as a folk singer trying to break into the music business. His anecdotes were wonderful and he would play songs that chronologically paired with the times of which he was speaking. He played all of the Byrds songs that everyone knows and especially when he broke out the Rickenbacker with that distinct twang, I was transformed into a time of great memories! The venue at Ponte Vedra is intimate, maybe 500 people. The seating was a little tight and nobody danced in their seats, but I struggled to keep still, being moved by the music. Chestnut Mare brought me to tears! It would be nice to see him again with a full band, but if you like the music of the Byrds you will certainly enjoy this intimate encounter with Roger McGuinn.

    Blast from the Past!

by EO on 12/27/18Parker Playhouse - Ft Lauderdale

Great show! Roger McGuinn & Chris Hillman still have distinctive voices (with some loss of range, as one would expect) that brought back a flood of memories. Marty Stuart and his band, The Fabulous Superlatives, were a great addition, bringing virtuoso musicianship and the country music bona fides that were perfect for playing "Sweethearts". In addition to the great music, both Roger and Chris are great story tellers, and gave background and meaning to many of the songs. They also played all the Byrds big hits that weren't on the album, either before they got into "Sweethearts" or during a great encore. (Those were the highlights for me and, I suspect, for many others in the audience as well, since I'm not a big country music fan.) The other thing that struck me about this concert was that it was a throwback to the '60s, with no fancy sets, no montage of images flashing up in the background...just straight-ahead country rock from people who knew what they were doing and clearly enjoyed doing it.

    It only took 52 years

by Larry Mullins on 12/26/18Parker Playhouse - Ft Lauderdale

After discovering the Byrds in 1966 it only took me 52 years to finally see them. The performance was outstanding and I am thrilled that I finally saw them live.

    A Truly Great Night

by Ralph P on 12/22/18Parker Playhouse - Ft Lauderdale

This was the last night of the tour and it was clear that the band didn't want it to end. The stage was full of legendary performers and they played off one another beautifully. McGuinn and Hillman were from the original Byrds with the addition of Marty Stewart and the Fabulous Superlatives. It was one great solo after another and the vocal harmonies were amazing. The audience could tell that the band was really into it and the audience was too. These guys really like playing together and it showed. My wife and I are still talking about how great it was. I hope that they get together again for another tour because I'd be the first one in line for tickets.

    Deja Vu All Over Again

by Keith H. on 12/22/18Parker Playhouse - Ft Lauderdale

The first concert that I ever saw was The Byrds in 1965. The ticket cost me 75 cents and the venue was the Victory Park (in North Miami Beach) basketball gym. Jim McGuinn, Chris Hillman, and David Crosby were part of the original lineup. I was blown away by McGuinn's 12 string Rickenbacker guitar then and now. The Rickenbacker has remained my favorite guitar of all time. McGuinn and Hillman (excellent guitar picking) were in fine form (although McGuinn's voice is not what it used to be). Marty Stuart's voice and guitar and mandolin playing were terrific and his band members were tight and excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and thought that the entire group performed in synch and sounded great.

    Roger Roger!

by EddieBe on 12/22/18Parker Playhouse - Ft Lauderdale

McGuinn was amazing and as natural as can be. Hillman as well. And the band they played with were very polished. But polish is not rock and roll. The stories they told were great and connected us. The vocals and instrumentals were spot on. But, and there is always a but, we were there to hear the Byrds. Not the country leaning back up band who were so graciously given the space to appear as an equal to McGuinn. Don’t get me wrong, they were not bad but just too up front and a little too honky tonk. Nonetheless, he is one of the greats and did not disappoint. It’s always the subtleties of the artist and his signature is unique. He was fresh and I’d see him again tomorrow if I could.

Extraordinary! The best band I ever heard.

Marty Stuart and his band hit it out of the park! A colleague recommended seeing/hearing this band and I was floored by their talent. A truly unforgettable experience.

    Great concert, great venue

by BuckyDog on 10/8/18Akron Civic Theatre - Akron

As soon as I saw Roger McGuinn and Chris Hillman had teamed with Marty Stuart and the Fabulous Superlatives for the Sweetheart of the Rodeo 50th anniversary tour, I knew I had to go. Akron was the closest to me so that's where I went. If you loved the Byrds then this is for you. Nice retrospective of the Byrds career and the Sweetheart album. And it was especially nice that for the encore they did a tribute to Tom Petty. Finally, everyone I talked with in the audience knew the music and the story of the Byrds which made it even more fun for a long time fan like me.

    Great REAL Country Music Experience

by BobKlass on 10/7/18Akron Civic Theatre - Akron

Marty Stuart's outstanding band provided the backdrop for an excellent plunge into The Byrd's country roots. This concert far exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended.
