  • Roger Hodgson in Hollywood, FL on March 7th

by lionjames on 4/4/12Seminole Hard Rock Casino - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Phenomenal show Roger Hodgson put on last night at the Semnole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, FL! He and his band were incredible as they went through an emotionally charged set of songs. My Canadian friends told me over the years when we saw Roger up at Casino Rama that they wish Roger would play with a band because his songs would be even more powerful. Were they ever! This I believe was the best display of music yet from Roger! Aaron McDonald his multi-instrument Sax player was amazing as well. The rest of the band were up to the high standards of a Roger Hodgson concert. As I waited for my wife to meet me at the venue, I felt almost like I was back in Canada. I couldn't get enough of Roger talk with my friend Bill, my new fan buddy Tom, and his sweet girlfriend Mariana. Great time with them at the Hard Rock Cafe! Here was the setlist: 1. Take the Long Way Home - Even more amazing with the band! 2. School - This song was so emotional and intense. Best version yet! 3. In Jeapordy - Great to hear this wonderful deep message song. Brilliantly performed. 4. Lovers in the Wind - Sweet and beautiful version. 5. Hide in Your Shell - So emotinally powerpacked. I felt filled up and could have ended this as the encore and left. Amazing with the band adding the intensity even further. 6. Sister Moonshine - Sweet song with a deep message treading lightly. 7. Breakfast in America - I was again amazed how much the band added to this song! It had me rocking as hard as School, In Jeopardy and Hide in Your Shell before it. His story of his dreaming of coming to America was entertaining as was his stories and banter on other songs. 8. Along Came Mary - A beauiful song that Roger sung and played to perfection. 9. Logical Song - Great version with Roger's story of searching for meaning. 10. Lord is it Mine? - An emotionally spiritual song played in full without the deep spiritual song Only Because of You. 11. Child of Vision - Finally after 11 Roger concerts of not hearing this song, the wait is now over! Incredible song and version! Roger and band were terrific! 12. Fool's Overture - Song is always incredible, but extra special with a band! 13. Dreamer - This song made me a Supertramp/Roger fan. Great song that closed the show. Roger encouraged fans to come up to the stage. 14. Give a Little Bit - Encore that let everone leave with a smile on their faces. Roger also added a lot of sound effects and overdubs of his vocals to this electrified high volume emotionally powerpacked concert! After the concert that we really enjoyed, I was able to go backstage with my wife and friends thanks to Roger's amazing managers Linda and Shakti. It was great to see and talk to Roger. I was happy to tell Roger finally how much Hide In Your Shell song has meant to me. He is such a gracious and loving person. We hugged and had pictures taken. Incredible evening!

  • Going through the motions

by Gflash on 3/14/12Hard Rock Live - HollywoodRating: 3 out of 5

The show was good, but it just seemed that Roger was up there collecting a paycheck. There was little spark and that in turn did not ignite the crowd to get into the performance.

  • Super Hodgson show

by tangentman on 3/14/12Hard Rock Live - HollywoodRating: 4 out of 5

I saw Supertramp the last time Roger was in South Florida (30 years ago at the Miami Jai Alai Fronton). This show, while not having effects like video used during that concert, still showcased Roger's tremendous voice and he sings just as well. His current band was extremely versatiile and the entire concert was very enjoyable. Thanks, Roger and mates!

    by dam29 on 3/13/12Hard Rock Live - HollywoodRating: 3 out of 5

First the show started 15 to 20 minutes late then when Roger Dodgson got on stage he stated to everyone he hoped we enjoyed the next 2 hours. and during the next hour the concert was great. the only problem with that was the show only lasted 1 hour after he started To me i had planed to spend 2 hours enjoying the show , and i felt i got ripped off for half of the show I have never gone to a concert where it only last 1 hour . since the show only lasted half as long as it should have . i feel that everyone their should get half of their money back.

  • Superb performance by Roger Hodgson and his band

    by MysteryGuest on 3/11/12Potawatomi Casino/Northern Lights Theater/Expo Center - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

I went to this concert with no particular expectations: I'd grown up in the 70s listening to rock music more often than not, and being a guitarist, was more focused on guitar-driven bands. I was therefore unprepared for the level of talent and musicianship on show, and can honestly say this was one of the best concerts - small or large in scale - I have ever experienced. Roger's voice, thirty-odd years on from Supertramp's big hits, was virtually indistinguishable from the original recordings; his playing was perfect, and his band equally so. The performance was such that the spirit and style of each song was there in abundance, together with that wonderful live presence that the best musicians can lend to it. Roger came across as a true artist, and a genuinely nice person. I left the theatre exhilarated Next time he's in town, I shall be there for more.

  • Roger Hodgson

A special opportunity to have seen a super legend composer and songwriter who has not appeared in Florida in over 30 years

  • Roger Hodgson Never Better

by TSOFreak on 3/10/12Hard Rock Live - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

The Good: Rogers voice still awesome, songs sounded just like the originals 30 years ago since I last saw him with Supertramp, very intimate setting with Roger speaking to the crowd after each song. Overall fantastic show and enjoyable evening. The Bad: The back sections and top of venue basically empty of people. Have all the old time rock n rollers left South Florida? With Roger's international appeal you would have thought a sellout in South Florida a multi cultural type of place. The UGLY: Only 14 songs in a 75 minute set, yet the following evening in FT Pierce a 20 song set. Another example of the the Seminole Hard Rock's cheapness in providing concertgoers a quality event like other local venues yet pricey pricey tickets for a shorter show.

  • Roger Hodgson was Fantastic

by msprh1 on 3/10/12Grand Casino Hinckley Event Center - HinckleyRating: 5 out of 5

The show in Hinckley was great, his voice, the band, were as if I was hearing his song's for the first time. My favorite was Hide in your shell, Dreamer, Fools Overture. I have been a Supertramp / Roger Hodgson fan since 1975 when I hear Crime of the Century album for the first time. Thank you Roger for your songs, sharing with us all your talent and please return to Minnesota the next time you tour the United States.

  • Hello Stranger Welcome Back to FLA...Magnificent!

by PuckSlinger on 3/10/12Sunrise Theatre - Fort PierceRating: 5 out of 5

Geez... I can't believe its really been 30 years since Roger last graced Florida with his presence back in the day at the height of Supertramp's iconic Grammy Award winning album which has sold over 20 million copies 'Breakfast in America', setting the tone for all the great music that was to come from the 80's. Hodgson was in great spirits and had great interaction with the audience under the glow of the Full Moon which gave this occasion a complete fullness. This night Hodgson and his band played an epic 20 song set ( only 14 songs the night before in Hollywood , FL) as this night was the final stop for the first leg of his 'Breakfast in America World Tour in 2012'. Hodgson along with his four other bandmates played flawlessly as they roled through a set of Supertramp Classics with a nice sprinkling some of his more obscure songs. May his musical sunshine grace you. Don't be a Stranger, like Roger...you must get out an see this show if it comes to your neck of the woods! Hope to see Roger Hodgson again soon!

  • Please bring Roger back every year

    by SoundPro69 on 3/10/12Hard Rock Live - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Exactly two weeks before his sixty second birthday, the guy is rocking the place like thirty years ago. I am a trained opera singer. This guy's falsetto is unbelievable and stays pristine throughout the decades. He sang "Dreamer", "The Logical Song", "Sister Moonshine", "School", "Give a little bit"... like it's 1979... His (vocal) instrument remains in top shape. Aaron MacDonald, who tours regularly with Roger playing sax, keyboards, singing backup vocals, etc. is a genius of his own, and works with Roger like he was Supetramp in one person. The sound of the concert was not always balanced. The piano in "A fools overture" was ear-piercing loud unnecessarily, the bass guitar was inauduble for the first few songs and the bass drum dominated way too loud (obliterating the bass guitar most of the time). But none of this could take away the magic of Roger's songs. Come back soon, Roger!

  • A Wonderful Evening

by ArthursS on 3/9/12Hard Rock Live - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

Roger Hodgson is such a warm individual who was able to immediately bond with the audience. His voice is great and the melodic songs hold many memories. Roger Hodgson is a true musical legend who puts on a tremendous show.

  • Roger rocked!!

    by krash23 on 3/9/12Hard Rock Live - HollywoodRating: 5 out of 5

An incredible musician, composer, singer and more. After all these years Roger is still able to deliver a quality performance and his voice immediately brought me back to the Supertramp days of old. I only wish the show had been a little longer. It was great hearing some of his solo work though its too bad it never got the circulation it deserved. If you grew up in the 70's this is a must attend event!

  • Classic Supertramp!

    by Cleaver20 on 3/9/12Potawatomi Casino/Northern Lights Theater/Expo Center - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

Great concert in a great venue at Potawatomi casino. The theatre is small with very comfortable seating, and attentive drink service. Hodgson played a great mix of Supertramp classics as well as additional favorites of his own. He sounded great! From the second row, it was amazing. The only downside was when he invited everyone up to the front for the last song (and consequently the one-song encore) and a wall of people descended, completely blocking my perfect view.

  • Roger Hodgson was great

by timfula on 3/9/12Hard Rock Live - HollywoodRating: 4 out of 5

Roger played most of the Supertramp hits which sounded just as amazing as when he sang them 30 years ago. Great backup band too.

  • Great show.....too short

by Freddieyaz on 3/9/12Hard Rock Live - HollywoodRating: 3 out of 5

The band sounded great but they cut out about 45 minutes of fabulous material based on past reviews from this tour. I really missed "Even in the Quietest Moments". I'm glad I went, just wished it lasted longer.

  • Roger Hodgson Still Rocks!

by OhioStateBabe on 3/9/12Hard Rock Live - HollywoodRating: 4 out of 5

I thoroughly enjoyed hearing my favorite Supertramp songs performed by Roger Hodgson, who co-wrote the songs with Rick Davies. Roger Hodgson's voice is still sharp and clear, and he is an amazing musician! My only complaint would be that the amps on the instruments were turned up too loud, causing the instruments to drown out the voices. The sound could have been turned down a bit, and the concert would have been even better. Still, a thoroughly enjoyable evening. Thanks, Roger!

  • Excellent!!!
