  • Simply put "Awesome"

by Anonymous on 8/13/12Oregon Zoo - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

Roger never sounded better and with the additon of a backup band he was able to perform songs he could not before when by himself. His voice was clean and clear and hit all of the notes most musicians give up on after 40. I have been a fan since 1972 and can tell you he has never sounded so good!!!

  • Very Good Performance

by zootrain on 8/13/12Oregon Zoo - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

Venue was excellent. Performers were excellent. Roger Hodgson can still hit those high notes. Sound quality was good, however I felt the mix needed a little more bottom end, (bass & drums a little more in the mix). Well worth the price and the drive.

  • Roger Hodgson - sounds better than ever!

One of the best shows that I've seen lately. Great music, and you could tell he was having a good time as well. Excellent sax as well. Highly recommended.

  • Roger Hodgson Delivered!

by CestLeBon on 8/12/12Oregon Zoo - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

I have waited since 1984 to hear my favorite Supertramp songs come alive. My favorites ALL happen to be written and performed by Roger Hodgson, so to have the opportunity to see him in my hometown of Portland was a once-in-a-lifetime chance. Although the volume was cranked up a bit over the top----we sat far back and it was LOUD, which killed some of the melodies----however that would be my only complaint. Roger performed non-stop, beautifully! He still has his voice after all these years, and it is VERY apparent that he absolutely loves what he does, loves his music, and loves to perform, all in a very deeply genuine way. The concert was wonderful, the zoo a great venue for this, and the crowd was the most polite, joyful, happy crowd I have ever experienced at a concert. Even those who drank too much were incredibly happy and polite! It was lovely!

  • Supertramp Live Again...

    by flog4food on 8/12/12Snoqualmie Casino-Mountain View Plaza - SnoqualmieRating: 5 out of 5

This was an outstanding concert. Roger Hodgson is the voice of Supertramp and he wrote most of their music. Even though he was the only member of the original band, it was like being at a Supertramp concert again. He played for two solid hours and had a half hour oncore. I will never miss an opportunity to see him again.

  • Better than Supertramp?

by decrink on 8/12/12Oregon Zoo - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

I saw Supertramp many times in their prime and they always played remarkable shows. Roger Hodgson kept that tradition with an excellent set of his tunes from the Supertramp era and his later solo albums. The songs still have meaning as Roger's lyrics probe deep concepts of life and death, love and loss and wrestling with the inevitable questions of life. The show in the near perfect setting at the Oregon Zoo provided the backdrop to let these meaningful songs take full form. Roger's in-form voice, his crack band, his faithfulness to the Supertramp-era arrangements and his connection with his audience and depth of connection with his own soul provided a fruitful framework for examining his catalog. It took the sound engineer about 1/3 of the show to fully dial in the low end crispness that Supertramp was known for. The remarkable bass line in School was muffled and hidden but as the show progressed, the The only disappointment was that his setlist was shorter than previous shows on the tour, leaving off Even in the Quietest Moment, Two of Us, and Death and a Zoo (understandable given the zoo setting). All in all it was a remarkable show, full of Roger's love, great compositions and outstanding musicianship.

  • The Tramp is back!!!

by ConcertZuru on 8/12/12Oregon Zoo - PortlandRating: 4 out of 5

Really good concert! Roger sounded just like supertramp does on the radio if not better. His band was excellent playing several instruments. The setting at the zoo is a unique venue, just like being at a high class ampitheatre. I would of liked more lighting as it got dark, but all in all a great concert. People were dancing all over the place and an encore got him to come out and play a few more songs. This is a concert anyone would not regret going to.

  • Roger Hodgson was on the Bucket List

by Ninadean on 8/12/12Oregon Zoo - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

My brother and I have an unwritten rule...when I hear a Supertramp song, I call him. It doesn't matter what time of day, I call him. So imagine the great phone call when I told him Roger was in Portland! He flew up from LA and we got to experience so Etching very near and dear to our hearts. What a great concert and great place to see him. An evening I won't forget.

This is the first time I have seen Roger in concert, and I hope it's not the last. He is wonderful! He played many of Supertramp's hits along with his solo work. It was a concert I will not soon forget.

  • Perfect summer evening concert with an old friend

by Bloozwoman on 8/12/12Oregon Zoo - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

This was a perfect warm summer evening concert with Roger Hodgson of Supertramp. The weather was perfect. The venue was small enough so we could actually hear the music. Hodgson was warm and friendly with the appreciative Portland crowd. Hearing some of the old favorites brought the audience to it's feet many times. Thanks for a great evening with Supertramp!

  • Roger Hodgson THE BEST!!!

by bazndeb on 8/12/12Oregon Zoo - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

What can you say but WOW!!! My husband and I went to the Oregon Zoo and were completely blown away by this concert. This was music we grew up to in the 70's and also music we remember after getting married in the 80's. He was one of the co-founders of Supertramp and he was one of the signature voices to the group along with Rick Davies. I liked Rick Davies with his harder rock form in his songs, but most of the songs of Supertramp I remember just falling in love with was from Roger Hodgson. It was such an enjoyable night remembering the music and the times my husband and I recalled. Everyone was on their feet dancing or sitting in their seats clapping and tapping along to the music. I think everyone had a great time without question. Roger Hodgson delivered the best concert I have been to in years. I don't go to many but I can say that if anyone sees that he is coming to a venue near you, go and see him. You will not be disappointed. In two hours he takes you back to fond memories and a great time. Definitely an absolutely great concert. Roger gets everyone engaged in his songs, asking to stand, clap, sing, sit back and remember, dance, even whistle when he started Easy Does It / Sister Moonshine. Believe me everyone was doing just that. If you go to this concert, you will not be disappointed.

  • Roger Hodgson is Awesome!

by Sabrinanp on 8/12/12Oregon Zoo - PortlandRating: 5 out of 5

Roger Hodgson and his back up band put on a wonderful concert, we never wanted it to end. His music is timeless and you can't help but sing it. His music touches your soul. He is such a talented musician/lyrist. He doesn't need all the fancy concert effects because he's got real genuine talent. Wish Supertramp was together performing because we missed a couple of the other songs. But Roger is Supertramp. I can't imagine Supertramp without the voice. I loved Roger Hodgson/Supertramp before but came away loving him more and having a respect for him that I didn't have before. Listened to and sang with our Supertramp cd all the way home (2 hr drive to Eugene). I would definitely go see Roger in concert again!
