Great show. If you like The Who, you'll love this intimate version.
I exected Roger Daltrey would play the best of the Who songs but I was dissaointed he did not play MY GENERATION and WONT GET FOOLED AGAIN among others. To make matters even worse, there was no encore. I would not go again!
Just amazing. Powerful drummer rocked and orchestral arrangement excciting
Best I have ever witnessed Daltrey sing and I have seen him dozens of times over of 40 years
I had the privilege to see Roger Daltrey perform with Simon Townsend on July 10, 2018. His music never gets old . Roger is down to earth and real . A bunch of people were out of their seats and crowding the stage front. Roger asked them to sit down cause they were blocking other people who also paid for their seats. I appreciate the thoughtfulness .
I felt that Roger seemed relaxed. When I have seen him with The Who, Pete controlled the mood which was more uptight and precise. Roger forgot the words to Athena but joked about it and tried again. Pete would probably never let this happen. Roger sang great and he played the songs the crowd loved. I feel after the first hour the heat was getting to Roger and the crowd. The venue needs to provide fans on stage. This is not the first concert at Turning Stone I have gone to that was unbearably hot for performers and the crowd. They need to improve or I will go to other venues in the area like del Lago. Other wise Roger put on a great show and I would see him again when he is in the area with or without Pete. Long Live Rock n’ Roll!!!
Show itself was good. Floor seating chairs too close together. Open beverages should not be allowed. Drunk next to us spilled her beer all over making it a not great experience. Roger Daltrey himself was good. If people went expecting a loud WHO concert they would have been disappointed. We enjoyed the music.
Really enjoyed seeing Roger. Hadn’t seen him since I saw The Who in 1982. At 74 , I thought he sounded great and had an excellent rapport with the audience. Some nice stories and was cool to see him laugh at himself on stage.
Small venue. Seats pretty close to stage. LOVED every minute of it!!! Roger sounds amazing!!
In Pete’s abscence Frank Simes fills in beautifully, close yours eyes it’s The Who sound.
Had tickets to see him last year, but then he was ill (!). Was great to see him - the performance was excellent - no intermission, which is amazing. Truly an entertainer. The DSO was its usual outstanding self - always a pleasure to experience. And Meadowbrook is a wonderful venue - the size, the grounds, etc. Love attending events there.
The band did an amazing job of recreating the incredible music of Tommy... The DSO was exceptional
Roger Daltrey and DSO performing Tommy was superb! Roger's voice held up throughout the night which was very hot and humid. He wisely uses back up singers and other lead singers to sing the passages that require someone who can hit the high notes. The backing band was very talented, particularly the woman who played the violin solo on Baba O'Riley and the DSO was excellent as anticipated. Overall, it was a wonderful concert!
Great show and Roger is still as awesome as ever at 74. Simon Townshend (Pete's brother) did a great job on lead guitar and his vocals were almost as good as his older brother. Tommy fans won't be disappointed.
Really good show. Daltrey's voice is quite strong for 74 years old. Did Tommy straight through and then did a couple of Who songs and one from his new CD. I thought the DSO was a terrific addition for the show - added a new dimension. The drummer Daltrey has is amazing! Highly recommend the show.
Roger was amazing as the day is long. Spectacular show!!!!!
I thought the concert was good, but not great. I was glad we were close enough to see the precision of the DSO, or it might have been a snoozer. My big fear with Meadowbrook is the parking lot. We got there almost three hours early and had no problems. Getting out was not fun though.
Roger Daltrey and the DSO, Great show !! Great Venue. Would highly recommend.
Roger Daltry still has it! Despite the heat, his strong voice rocked, accompanied by the world class Detroit Symphony Orchestra. It was a night to remember in this great venue!
Normally I find the pairing of symphony orchestras and pop/rock stars a little precious, but this one worked brilliantly. Roger looks and sounds great--hearing aids and all. I loved the way he acknowledged the reality of aging and keeping on keeping on. Bonus: Hearing him say "old farts" with a Britty accent! His band was great--nice combination of young and older. It was so much fun for this elder to "rock out" to a classic from the 1970s--the decade I came of age as a young adult. The DSO (whom I see regularly at the Neighborhood Concerts series) were very game at expanding the Tommy experience. I love their outdoor concerts, and this one was a real treat. Thank you, musicians, for subjecting your vintage instruments to that wicked humidity.
