Daltrey - Damn Good!
by Guthrie on 10/11/09Commodore Ballroom - VancouverOn the first showing of the tour, they were still working out some kinks in sound and chords, but it was still great. With an outstanding band behind him, including Pete's brother, Simon Townshend who's really mastered his craft now, Roger rocked the Commodore. Scott Devours gave you an opportunity to close your eyes and imagine Keith Moon for a moment, and, other than cheating on the banjo riffs in "Squeezebox", they gave you the real deal. Selections from all over time and space - great renditions/tributes to the Chieftans and Johnny Cash - he was great. True to form (and a bit of perfection) he had the Shepherds Bush balls to bail on a few songs before they crashed and burned, and tidied them up a bit before he gave them a second shot. And there can be nothing like hearing Roger Daltrey belting out Who hits "The Real Me"," Who are You", or "Baba O'Reilly" at a venue like the Commodore. It was classic, it was good, and it was fun!
