Cute and happy spin on a classic tale

    by S. H. on 4/3/19Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

I purchased these tickets to take my two daughters (21 & 7) to see this play. I remember seeing Rodgers & Hammerstein The King and I and South Pacific as a child. I remember the beautiful colors and music. This play had those attributes, as well This was my 7 year old’s first play. I normally have problems getting her to sit through a movie for two hours. She absolutely adored it from beginning to endand sat enthralled her seat for its entirety. My 21 year old and I loved it, as well They found a way to make the play current without changing it drastically. Kudos and thanks for a great play!

    Mediocre

by B. on 4/3/19Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

Was not what I was expecting. The music was not good, and the singing was worse. It got two stars because it was written well, I just felt the acting was not very good at all. Nothing compared to Les Mis, Mamma MIA, Wicked, Phantom, etc. do not go having high expectations, you will be let down.

    Not like the original

by LJ on 4/2/19Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

If you are going because you loved the 1965 TV version with Lesley Ann Warren and Stuart Damon you will be disappointed. The songs are still beautiful but the production tried to be to politically correct. I feel like it stole parts from Ella enchanted and Everafter but not in a good way. It added characters and changed storylines and left out some of my favorite dialogue.

Cinderella was a fabulous show. I took eight of the gals in my family to this event. We had a great time - still talking about how good it was. Thank you!

    Worth it

by Jmom on 4/2/19Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

It was great. I liked the twist at the end. It was filled with music and humor. I gave 4 stars as it was not loud enough. We missed a lot of the jokes. Our 5 and 4 year got bored. Not sure if it was that we couldn’t hear it or if it was because it was almost 2 hours with intermission. Overall it was enjoyed and is recommended

Delightful - I've loved the songs since childhood

by Catherine's Corner on 4/2/19Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

If you don't already know the Rodgers and Hammerstein's songs, you may expect something different. My two sisters thought it would be more Disneylike and thought it didn't have enough magic. Personally, I enjoyed hearing all of the empowering lyrics. The Fairy Godmother was amazing - in both of her costumes. She was my favorite character. Plenty of delightful moments, tempered by a lukewarm crowd. Biggest disappointment was to enter a theatre which had been sold out in the front rows when I bought the tickets, but had plenty of much better seats available. Not sure how this happens, but if it's because of scalpers, Ticketmaster needs to fix it.

    Cinderella??

by Nichole on 4/2/19Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

Overall It was good. The mics were really low so it was harder to hear the dialog vs the singing. It was not anything like any Cinderella’s I’ve ever watched, which was to be expected as it was the musical, but I was hoping for at least some of the original songs to be incorporated. My daughter loved it, but I was left a little disappointed. Also, towards the end she was in a golden dress carrying around a book....seemed a little more Bell from Beauty and the Beast than Cinderella.

    could not hear

    Great performances...wish I could’ve heard them!

    by N. L. on 4/2/19Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

The sound was so low. I normally feel like the sound at movies and concerts is too loud. Not this time. My daughter and I could hardly hear what was being said and sung. What we could hear was very good. I feel like it should be better publicized that this is not the Disney version. Just so everyone knows she oof time, that it’s very different. Overall it was very good. Just so hard to hear!

    Great Character and Plot Development

by Brittany on 4/2/19Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

I remember the simple Disney version of Cinderella from my childhood. This play had a few more conflicts and character relationships than I have seen before. It kept my interest the whole time. I felt like a little girl again wishing I could be a princess. The actors, music, stage, and lighting were all wonderful. I loved my experience!

This is a perfect musical for the family to see together, even children. It's entertaining and hopeful. And the consistent dance and song keep your attention. The costume changes were pretty amazing, too!

    R&H Cinderella

by AP on 4/1/19Fox Theatre Detroit - Detroit

It was fantastic. Even watching for the costume changes, I missed some of how they did it. Definite magic! The cast was great. We loved the show! There was a storyline involving elections that felt a bit long and out of place in a cute fairy tale, but it wasn't terrible, just felt a bit awkwardly thrown in.
