    Different

by orultseg on 11/26/14DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

It was a good show. The town crier, Lord Pinkleton, had an amazing voice, as did the fairy godmother. There were a lot of changes from the original that I remember from my childhood and from Whitney Houston's production, illustrating growth in both Cinderella's and the prince's characters from not knowing who they are to becoming more self-aware and self-assured. However, I was very disappointed that the song "The Prince is Giving a Ball" wasn't a stronger production. There are the obvious big numbers where the prince and Cinderella fall in love and get married, but that song has always been one of the strong points of any performance, and this time it was given short shrift. Additionally, playing up that number could have given Lord Pinkleton a bigger chance to show off that fabulous voice. The actors playing Cinderella and the prince had good voices, too, but their acting was overdone, even for a comic fairy-tale type musical.

I took my 10 year old daughter to see Cinderella for the Saturday matinee, and we had the best time! We especially loved the magical costume transformations as well as the twists on the familiar story. Can't wait to see another Broadway performance!

    Magical

This new adaptation was a remarkable mix of the old and the new. The songs were my old favorites while the characters were an updated version of themselves. I loved the new "girl power" version of Cinderella and the likable and relatable Prince Topher. Both of my daughters fell in love with the story all over again. It is an absolute must see.

    Excellent performance

by TravelinMan63 on 11/21/14DPAC - Durham Performing Arts Center - Durham

Loved the show, with witty dialogue and snappy tunes. Acting was very good and the costume transformations were delightful. Songs weren't quite up to "Disney" standards but catchy and fun nonetheless. Plot was predictable, of course, but had enough variations from the Disney movie that it kept me interested guessing at the details. Overall a great experience and well worth the money.

    Magical!

by JessinROC on 11/5/14The Broadway Theatre - New York

Perfect representation of the original Rodgers + Hammerstein story. All the familiar songs with great choreography and scenery. Not the Disney version some might expect, but very special in its own way. Beautiful costumes, very colorful, perfect for families of all ages or a great date-night!

Not what I thought it was going to be

by BreaP on 6/19/14Broadway - New York City

The singing was great. Fran D. was awesome as her character. But the overall storyline of the play was not too great. I understand changing parts from the original movie, but this was basically a completely different story. The changes that were made to the story line only seemed to just drag the play out, and turned it really boring actually. There was comedy and great costume changes. Kids seemed to like it a lot.
