  • Things I did not need to know.

Instead of songs, we learned about archeology and his pictures in magazines. We learned about his surfing exploits. He sang the Lord.s prayer in Hebrew , then in English neither were on John Denver albums we have. My wife would have liken more songs for $175 a ticket.

  • Excellent Rocky Mountain High Experience!!

by Ron on 12/30/24Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

The Rocky Mountain High Experience was a magnificent sensory experience. The concert was filled with over 20 of John Denver's songs with scenic photos and stories supplementing the music. The singer's voice was very similar to Denver's and gave the same inflections and drew the same emotions as if it was Denver himself.

  • Always Enjoyable

This was the second time I have gone to this show. First was 5 years ago with my mom and repeated again this year. Simple to say it was just enjoyable and good fun. I like the introductions to the songs explaining why they were written, what the meaning was etc. In fact, I would have Rod do more of that. There is so much meaning behind John Denver’s songs and ‘history’ and it always gets me thinking. For this performance, the sound was a bit off for the few few songs (could not hear Rod’s voice too well) but then when Sunshine was played something changed to correct that. Bummer as the opening (Rock Mountain) did not come off too well because of that. Either way, well worth it and simply a wonderful experience.

  • Love John Denver

My son and I enjoyed the performance, when he was singing John Denver songs and Christmas carols. We could've done with a lot less storytelling and a lot more music to be honest, that's just how we feel

  • A wonderful tribute

by Amy on 12/25/24Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - ChicagoRating: 5 out of 5

Rick Schuler “as” John Denver is amazing. The interesting part was it wasn’t an impersonation…he is just really spot-on visually and vocally. He doesn’t pretend to be John Denver…but embodies the beauty of his music. Throughout the show, Rick tells stories of his own life, shares history of John Denver’s music, and encourages the audience to sing along. Rick is a warm and engaging performer whose genuine kindness shines onstage. Brought my daughter and her dad to the show as a Christmas Gift (they are fans of John Denver’s music) and it was a wonderful start to the celebration of the season. Go see Rick’s show if you have a chance—you won’t regret it!

  • John Denver Tribute Show

by ChicagoFan on 12/25/24Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - ChicagoRating: 1 out of 5

We were sadly disappointed in this show. Rick’s story of his Church prayer group totally depressed us. Music was ok. We left at intermission.

  • mediocre

The John Denver songs were good but the singer was off key the entire performance. He occasionally was on key butit was difficult to listen to overall.

  • Too corny for us

by KJ on 12/25/24Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - ChicagoRating: 3 out of 5

We did not know it would be basically a sing a long. I don’t want to go to the theater to hear others sing. The vocalist was just okay and his stories I did not think went well with the songs.I thought he would do monologue around John Denvers career as well as why he wrote the songs. We left at intermission. Just not for us.
