by Bob on 12/12/21Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

Spectacular show! Broadway caliber cast crew and orchestra. Cody Garcia, as Wonka was perfect. And the Oompah Loompas were SO happy! Great choreography. Highly recommend the show.

    Kind of Disappointing

by JohnMG123 on 12/10/21Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

Honestly I was rather disappointed in this show. Basically, musically it doesn't always hold up. The old songs are very good of course, but most of the newer ones don't fit the style of the older ones and it feels like a mish-mash. The only new song that is good is that for Augustus Gloop. Veruca Salt loses her song from the movie (I want it NOW) and becomes a Russian ballerina in this version. The songs for the other kids are too long and of a completely different style. As for the production, a lot of the "sets" are actually projections, some of which are very effective and some of which are "eh". The oompa lumpas are cleverly done and fun. Lastly on the acting - the Willy Wonka was quite good, but the child who played Charlie Bucket the night I attended (there are three alternating the role) tended to really over-act. Not only did it distract from the show, but it hurt the character as part of the charm of the character is that he isn't as over-the-top and extreme as the others. The show was OK, not terrible, but not nearly as good as it could have been or what I was hoping for.

    We absolutely loved our experience.

by Michelle on 12/10/21Majestic Theatre San Antonio - San Antonio

Ticketmaster was so professional and easy to work with. In this day and age of a shortage of employees, Ticketmaster spoils you with info through emails and step by step instructions to make sure you are taken care of. We really appreciate these extra touches. So not only did we love our Broadway show, we loved our entire experience! Thank you Ticketmaster, we will be back!

    Few technical difficulties

by dgtjax on 11/20/21Rochester Auditorium Theatre - Rochester

While the show was good especially the actors playing Willie Wonka and Charlie, we found it very difficult to hear the actors that were playing the minor characters mainly the ones with the accents. I'm not the only one that said this either. I had two other friends go on two other nights and they also agreed that they were very hard to hear throughout the show.

    Very disapointing

by Billy on 11/17/21Lexington Opera House - Lexington

Let me open with stating that I am not a theater snob, however, growing up in NYC, living as an adult in NYC, Boston, London and Louisville, I can say that I am well versed in theater, I'll start with the theater itself: I give it a 5 out of 10. Its a small space that is trying to be a larger space, It's not working. Must also add that you purchase concessions and it is not until you enter the viewing area that you are informed that snacks and beverages are not permitted in the viewing area. Awesome job ripping everyone off by having them dispose of their snacks / drinks 4 minutes after purchasing. As for the play itself: Absolutley awful. Although the adapatation mirrored the original, this mirror was broken. Mediocre at best acting, awful sound and musical scores that were embarrassing. The musicians were talented, the songs were awful. This "Play" was so bad that we left at intermission and went home. Am I being hard on this play? Absolutely not. It was the worst performanve I have ever seen.

So glad I decided to go!

by Anna_KY on 11/17/21Lexington Opera House - Lexington

Stunning performances paired with wonderfully whimsical sets made Charlie and the Chocolate Factory a joy to behold. Although I love the Gene Wilder film, I was on the fence about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the Musical. I skipped it a few years ago due to some bad reviews but felt inclined to give it a chance this year. I AM SO GLAD I DID! WOW!!!! The performers in this were fantastic. The lead (Willy Wonka), Cody Garcia, was simply amazing. He brought a charming and devious flare to the character that I fell in love with, and his portrayal brought the character to life. You could tell everyone in this show really loved their roles; the show came together with color and excitement. This version is a little darker than the original, so if you have squeamish children, be warned. It is fairly obvious the "bad" children do perish in this installment, versus the questionable survival hinted at in the films. I enjoyed it, even with its dark twists, however. I smiled throughout the entire show. It was a much-needed respite from lockdown.

    Great job!

by Maggie on 11/16/21Lexington Opera House - Lexington

My daughters and I absolutely loved this play. The cast did an amazing job. Their singing was unbelievable. Mrs. Gloop's amazing voice and over-the-top animated expressions were a highlight, but all were just so very wonderful. The little boy that played Charlie Bucket has such talent and Willy was larger than life. Mr. Beauregarde & Violet were such fun--we really just loved it all. I have to mention the Oompa Loompas--they tap danced with those puppets! Such crazy talent...we would love to see it again!

    Disappointed

by Lifelong fan on 11/15/21Lexington Opera House - Lexington

Because I have watched the movie a million times I saw everything they done that wasn’t exactly like the movie. It should have been names Willa Wonka not Charlie because it’s like the movie of WW the leading up to Charlie winning. Also they took to much time doing to leading up to senses and should have done most during the factory scenes. Also they could have really done up the factory part and it was generic
