About

Rihanna is nothing if not prolific. Since her 2005 debut, the 25-year-old singer has released seven albums and racked up twelve No. 1 singles, setting a record in the process as the solo artist with the fastest accumulation of ten chart-topping singles – a feat she accomplished in just under five years. A quick scroll through the radio dial will confirm that Rihanna is the most ubiquitous figure in Top 40 airplay, and considering her rapid-fire release schedule, it’s hardly a surprise that she recently edged out her idol Whitney Houston to become the artist with the ninth most Top 10 singles ever (24 in total). After hugely successful collaborations with Eminem in 2010 (“Love the Way You Lie”) and Drake in 2012 (Take Care), Rihanna scored her first U.S. No. 1 album with 2012’s Unapologetic, which includes the hugely successful “Diamonds” and “Stay.” Rihanna is shining bright in concert on the 2013 Diamonds World Tour -- opening acts 2 Chainz and A$AP Rocky are worth the ticket price alone.

Born in Barbados in 1988, Rihanna grew up listening to reggae and began singing at age seven. As a teen, her Caribbean-influenced demos attracted the attention of label execs, and in 2005 she auditioned for Jay-Z, signing a six-album record deal with Def Jam Recordings the same day. Her first two albums, Mother of the Sun (2005) and A Girl Like Me (2006), spawned hit singles “Pon De Replay” and chart-topper “S.O.S.,” but it wasn’t until “Umbrella,” from third album Good Girl Gone Bad (2007), that she cemented her place as a serious contender to the pop throne. Originally written for Britney Spears, “Umbrella” peaked at No. 1 and earned Rihanna her first Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. A string of platinum-selling albums would follow, including Loud (2010) and Talk That Talk (2011), both of which featured an increasingly dance-oriented sound, including chart-topping club anthems “Only Girl (In the World)” and “We Found Love.” After terminating her tumultuous on-again, off-again relationship with rapper Chris Brown, Rihanna released Unapologetic in 2013 to positive reviews – and a No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200.

  • Disappointing

    by musicmaster27 on 4/14/16TD Garden - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

Rihanna showed up very late, made a ridiculous excuse that she had dropped a pot of boiling hot water on her legs, played for only 74 minutes. The choreography and sets were not as creative as her videos or as good as other contemporary artists of her caliber. The music was really loud and we heard more of Travis Scott and much less of Rihanna. What a shame - if she continues on this path, she will soon alienate most of her fans.

  • Rihanna makes it work

by EdAbbott on 4/14/16Royal Farms Arena (formerly Baltimore Arena) - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5

Her performance was energetic and outstanding. She began the show with a cannot miss routine, so don't be late. She has many more popular songs that I recognized than I knew were hers, and they all were extremely well performed. The audience was young and lets say that I am a young 56, but I did not feel out of place at all. They were very well behaved and were on their feet the whole time, which adds even more energy to the show. We took my 22 and 15 year olds and all of us thoroughly enjoyed the show.

  • Rihanna: Anti World Tour 2016

    by 1KAB1 on 4/14/16TD Garden - BostonRating: 2 out of 5

She was over an hour late. Basically paid $120.00 to see her on stage for an hour. Totally not fair.

Rihanna kicked ass, even when having injured herself prior to the show. She's freakin' spectacular.

  • be on time

    by errol68 on 4/14/16TD Garden - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

this is the second time she has show up an hour late last time she should up an hour and 40min late. so on this time all I got was an 48min of a show becuz I am from maine and the train leave at 11ppm on time so I cant miss it. if she is suppose to be on stage at 9pm then she should be on stage at 9pm. I will not be going to any more Rihanna concert. I try to get my money back but I couldn't so Rihanna thank you for nothing.

  • RIHANNA - worth seeing, but show delayed 1 HOUR

    by Debra25 on 4/13/16TD Garden - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

RIHANNA is beautiful & talented and puts on an entertaining show! She's definitely worth seeing live, BUT kept the audience waiting for an hour before coming out on stage. She only played for just over an hour, and although she played a lot of her hit songs, it was like a shortened remix from one to the next. It's worth it to see her , but the long delay and shorter performance time was extremely disappointing to fans.

AMAZING!! She was an hour late, had boiling water poured on her, so it's understandable. This was the third concert of hers I have been too, and was by far the best of them all! The little mini shows in between her changes were just as awesome and entertaining as her! She also seems to be in a very happy place, which is really showing in her performances!:)

  • Worth the wait!!!

Rihanna was, in one word... MAGIFANTASTICAL!!! a must see!!

  • Strange show with a late start

    by Am17 on 4/13/16TD Garden - BostonRating: 2 out of 5

Rihanna has an unbelievable voice, but it's ridiculous to make fans wait an hour and a half and to make excuses. We paid $180 a ticket to see her only play an hour. Think we should have had some money refunded. It was also awful how she cut her best songs short. I think of her as having some of the best dance songs and the music was odd and hard to dance to. Big disappointment really. We were so excited for this show and I think the direction was strange and not that entertaining over all.

  • Extremely disappointed

by RalphMV on 4/13/16TD Garden - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

Started out great with Rhianna coming out of portal opposite end of stage side and singing on a lit up platform. I was ready for a great evening of music, dance and costume! Thinking this could be a show to be remembered. Then as she walked onto a catwalk platform that took her just above the floor crowd and the band came up out of the stage, things started to go the wrong way. The band drowned out the lyrics and singing to the point of not enjoyable. To make matters worse, Rhianna did not sing the most difficult notes and pulled the mike away from her while you would hear a recording of her singing in the background. Never been to a concert where the singer did not actually sing the music, but relied on a background recording to finish a verse. I guess I expected too much. Maybe her voice was not in good shape that night? Would have been nice for her to really sing with minimal instruments on some songs and have the instruments slowly get louder, but almost entire performance was drowned out with the instruments. Just very disappointed and if I had reviews like this one, I would not have gone to this concert.

  • The energy at this show was dope!

    by Empress87 on 4/13/16TD Garden - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

I don't know Travis Scott but I know now that I want to listen to his music! He's such a good performer ! Rihanna did great as well

  • Decent show

    by Specialk30000 on 4/13/16TD Garden - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

Well, I will start off with the fact that Rhianna took the stage about 40 mins late. She tried to hit a lot of her hits, which is always appreciated. The set pieces and wardrobes were nice. She did well singing and dancing. My only major issue was that I couldn't always understand the words. I have often noticed that at a lot of Hip/Hop shows though, probably because the bass is usually turned up extra high. Overall though, it was a fun night out and would recommend the tour to any of her fans.

  • Rihanna was a waste of money live!!!

    by akruger8 on 4/13/16TD Garden - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

I've been to hundreds of concerts. I call myself a junkie, and Rihanna was the worst show ever been to in 20 years. She came on an hour late the only full song she did were her new songs. All her hits she did only half the song was performed. It was a disgrace!!!

  • Rihanna delivered, just not on time.

    by RedFury21 on 4/13/16TD Garden - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

Rihanna delivered, just not on time. The songstress was almost an entire hour late. She did make a stunning entrance working her way from the rear of the venue, which wasn't expected. Using a suspended bridge she put on quite the show, hovering over the audience shaking it and belting songs out for fans to get great photo and video. The band was great. The show ended at 11pm. This was disappointing because the start time for the concert was 7:30pm with Travis Scott, the only one opening act, leaving a huge gap in between while waiting for this Caribbean Diva, who finally emerged at 9:50pm. If she could not be on time she could have sung a little longer...$120 ticket price worth longer. The songstress did apologize for being late. I would definitely see her again in another city, and hopefully she can sing "Skin" which she didn't do this time.

  • Rihanna is always late to her shows

    by J3487 on 4/13/16TD Garden - BostonRating: 3 out of 5

I was completely disappointed in the fact that Rihanna was an hour late to her own concert. We were waiting forever and instead of the DJ coming back out to entertain the fans for a little bit longer, we were left sitting there doing nothing. Tickets to her show weren't cheap. The concert also ended at the same time it was originally supposed to instead of being extended because of her tardiness. The part that pisses me off the most is that after reading some other reviews and articles about her, I found out that she is ALWAYS late to her concerts. Not to mention just 3 years ago at another one of her shows at TD Garden, she was THREE hours late. Clearly she needs better structure in her scheduling. Pop stars don't seem to appreciate their fans quite like other performers do. I've been to so many country concerts that I can't even count and I have NEVER had the person I went to go see, show up late. Finding all of that out definitely made me lose respect for her.

  • La Flame or Rihanna

by NewChevy on 4/13/16TD Garden - BostonRating: 4 out of 5

So before delving into my deep and through review of the concert, I want to say that if you're a Rihanna die hard, it was a great concert. Except I'm not. I like Rihanna as a performer and she makes good music. But, I mean she has to share some limelight with A$AP Rocky. Wait I mean Travi$ Scott. Now I'm just playing around but I know a lot of Travi$ songs. And he's exploding everywhere currently. Next best hip hop producer/rapper. But if you want the crowd to be hype. You gotta give him the stage time he deserves. Plus the song Maria I'm Drunk must be played at every show the put together. Nothing screams more fun and excitement from a Travi$ Scott fan then when that song comes on. Other than that he needs more time to actually perform. He should just drop Rihanna. But that's what sells out stadiums so hey I get it. All in all, Rihanna was a great show but, Travi$ brought the heat.

  • LITUATION!

by itsyagirlnat on 4/13/16Royal Farms Arena (formerly Baltimore Arena) - BaltimoreRating: 5 out of 5

The moment I walked in the show the tone was set! It was time to party. She went right into her good stuff and kept the energy up all concert. Great for Rihanna fans and those just there for the ride.

  • by Anonymous on 4/13/16TD Garden - BostonRating: 1 out of 5

She went on very very late . The speakers were so loud. i would not go to another Rihanna show.

  • Rihaanna was even more fantastic than last time

by ACTL on 4/13/16Royal Farms Arena (formerly Baltimore Arena) - BaltimoreRating: 4 out of 5

I would have give her 5 stars but I felt that the lighting on stage was too dark most of the times. Even with excellent seats in front of the stage, I should have been able to see her more clearly. Otherwise a great show. Need to clean up the opening act.
