The show was great overall, but I wish he’d have played his #1 song.

My other review on the Rev should have been a 5 star

    GREAT SHOW

    by G. P. on 2/10/23191 Toole - Tucson

The Surfragettes were a great opener. Very talented group, great style and very cool to hang at the merch table signing autographs and meeting attendees. The Rev and band were in top form. Very skilled, great tunes and stage presence. They really put it on for such a small venue. Would definitely see them again.

    Surfrajettes rocked it!

by Bombshell on 1/17/23191 Toole - Tucson

Flew in from Texas for the Surfrajettes (opening act) and they were awesome! Great stage presence, masterful playing, and a terrific show. They were so welcoming to the fans at the merchandise table afterward — signing discs, taking group photos, and just being approachable and friendly.

    The Rev!

    by Rayder88 on 1/17/23191 Toole - Tucson

This is my second time to see Jim and Jimbo. The reverent looks better than ever spot on. His show is aces. It’s everything you want it a rockabilly, full reverb destruction Rave up. And he’s obviously still having fun doing it. Great show.

    Absolutely awesome

by Nick on 10/9/22High Noon Saloon - Madison

Nashville pussy opened for rev Horton heat and once the music started it was a couple hours of pure adrenaline. Then the rev and band came back out and did an encore of two more songs. Signed autographs and took pictures with fans including me. Shook my hand and asked how long I’d listened to him. What a great experience.

    Rock N Roll is Now!

by Seth on 10/9/22High Noon Saloon - Madison

Reverend Horton Heat always puts on a killer show, lost count how many times I’ve seen them (probably 30ish) but have never been disappointed. If you love REAL Rock N Roll you’ll love The Rev, guaranteed.

Jim Heath is an entertainer of the highest level. His musicianship and his band mates energy took the room and delivered an excellent evening of fantastic music.

    The Rev at Wally’s Pub

by Jayrot on 5/22/22Wally's - Hampton

Enjoyed all three Bands. The opening band, The Outsiders was a nice surprise. I was especially impressed with a last minute fill in drummer. A fun and entertaining group. Next, the Koffin Kats. I have liked their music for a few years. I was very happy they were on the bill. Great band. Vocals were spot on. Tight set. Played the songs I was hoping they would. Excellent. Next, Reverend Horton Heat. I’ve seen them quite a few times mostly in CT. Big fan. The Rev (Jim) seemed a bit off to start with. First couple of songs were a slower tempo then original. Started to pick up. Then some IDIOT in the crowd throws a beer during the standing on Jimbos bit. Soaked both Jim and Jimbo. Stopped the show for a good 20 minutes. Had to clean themselves and their equipment. They finished strong, although it seemed like a short show. Probably due to the fact they lost that time to clean up. All in all a great show. I really liked Wally’s pub. Would like to see another show at some point.

    PSYCHOBILLY FREAKOUT!

by Rockerwanabe on 4/16/20House of Blues Dallas presented by Cricket Wireless - Dallas

As the Latino punk band, Pinata Protest took the stage I quickly realized how little I learned from my ten hours of college Spanish, but more importantly I discovered that you can play an accordion and still be a punk rocker. They were followed by some L.A. band called the Buttertones, that apparently has quite the following, although I had never heard of them. So, after standing on my feet for nearly four hours and playing lots of games on my cell phone, on came the one and only, psychobilly freak-out band, The Reverend Horton Heat! Looking ever so dapper dressed in a red, sequenced jacket and armed with a gorgeous Gretsch guitar, the Rev launched into the somewhat haunting rockabilly RIDE BEFORE THE FALL, and before anyone had a chance to catch their breath came the song PSYCHOBILLY FREAKOUT. As guitarist/singer Jim Heath, a.k.a. the Rev, moved through all of those eccentrically, haunting rockabilly songs I felt like I had faded into a Quentin Tarantino movie, and I nearly expected severed body parts to come flying past me. Yes, the song PSYCHOBILLY FREAKOUT just screams out, “Gun blazing, shootout scene!” And to honor the guy on stage thumping on the upright base, The Rev led everyone through his salute to the band’s long-time bass slapper, Jimbo Wallas with the song, JIMBO, and everyone screamed out the letters J-I-M-B-O! Yes, it’s spelling time at the Reverend Horton Heat show! Then the show took a completely different turn as The Rev invited pianist Lance Lipinsky and his beat to heck piano to the stage. Lance Lipinsky had been doing the Vegas thing portraying Jerry Lee Lewis in the Million Dollar Quartet, and even though I don’t think Jerry Lee Lewis ever had Lance’s hair, his piano style was all “The Killer”! So now we’ve got psychobilly guitar picking and “Killer” piano, what could come next? Well, we’ve already had a Spanish singing punk rocker playing an accordion so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Polka music? Sure, why not. I’m not sure what song this was, but I do remember the word “polka” being mentioned. And let’s add in some Western Swing with West Coast country guitar man Deke Dickerson. No, I’ve never heard of him either, but after a Willie Nelson song he belted out some metal song named ROADKILL which I’m guessing isn’t a Willie Nelson song. Then it was back to The Rev, who showed us that you can wear a red sequenced jacket and still be a heck of a guitar picker. Such made me want to go home and pull out my Gretsch guitar, or give it up completely and put the thing on Craigslist because I’ll never be able to play like the Rev. After a few more rockabilly tunes it was time for something completely different as the band dove into Motörhead’s speed metal classic, ACE OF SPADES. I don’t think I’ve ever seen that song played with an upright base, but what the heck, it was a night for new experiences. Latino Punk, Western Swing, some pop band I’d never heard of, a killer piano player, and The Rev’s brand of psychobilly. Not a bad night for a $17.50 ticket.

    Disappointed

by Frank on 2/25/20House of Blues Dallas presented by Cricket Wireless - Dallas

Music was extremely low it seemed like opening bands also sucked and we don’t go to concerts to hear personal opinions about politics.. but the main reason was that the speakers seemed extremely low and low

    Killer show, start to finish

by VerucaSalt41179 on 2/24/20House of Blues Dallas presented by Cricket Wireless - Dallas

One of the few shows I loved from the very first opener through to the encore. I actually got to the show on time specifically to see Pinata Protest. I almost never get to a show for the opener. I wasn't familiar with Buttertones before this but they were excellent and definitely made a new fan. I have known of Reverend Horton Heat for decades but never seen him live. The show was amazing. He, of course, is an amazing musician but his regular band, the piano player/singer and his special guest, Deke Dickerson, all brought their own spice to the party and it was a great blend. I couldn't have been happier with the entire show. And based on this concert, I would absolutely see Reverend Horton Heat again.

freezing cold Las Vegas show and a wayward vehicle

by Jess on 2/24/20House of Blues Dallas presented by Cricket Wireless - Dallas

The tickets stated that the concert started at 7pm, although this is when the doors opened. We were also not aware that there would be two opening bands and that the headliner would not start playing until 10:30 pm. RHH's guest artists should rather have been in Las Vegas where the crowds actually prefer spangled and fringed performance ahead of music. House of Blues is neither a concert hall nor a cultural Mecca it is a money machine complete with ridiculous prices for everything and topped off with poor service. The venue was freezing cold for everyone who didn't participate in the mosh pit. The valet parking service (LAZ parking) managed to give our car away to someone else, and only that customer's vigilance prevented us from being stranded in Dallas with no car to speak of. Dallas can do better than this.

    Disappointed

by T. A. on 2/16/20The Depot - Salt Lake City

Super disappointed by this show. Went to see The Reverend Horton Heat perform, instead got to see 2 cover bands, and then some random guy who played his own music while the Reverend was on stage. Not a lot of music was even played by the Rev.
