About

In 1996, an original rock musical by a little-known composer opened on Broadway… and forever changed the landscape of American theatre. Two decades later, Jonathan Larson’s RENT continues to speak loudly and defiantly to audiences across generations and all over the world. And now, this Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award®-winning masterpiece returns to the stage in a vibrant 20th anniversary touring production. A re-imagining of Puccini’s La Bohème, RENT follows an unforgettable year in the lives of seven artists struggling to follow their dreams without selling out. With its inspiring message of joy and hope in the face of fear, this timeless celebration of friendship and creativity reminds us to measure our lives with the only thing that truly matters—love.

A Great Recreation of the Original RENT Tour

by rainbowlust on 10/19/16Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

Ensemble acting was well done, and had an inspiring effect. The man who played Collins was spot on and had wonderful voice. Angel was a shining star in the show with great mastery of the choreography, and poise in his acting style. Mimi was a great actress, but her voice was a little off from what you usually expect her character to have. Roger was a great pairing and addition to her performance. If you closed your eyes he sounded just like the original broadway actor. The stage picture was excellent at setting the mood, and clearly showed all scenes taking place at the same time. Also had a great staging for showing the transition from night to day. There was a few technical sound errors at the end with microphone feed back, but other than that everything went perfect!

I for one am totally obsessed with the movie and its songs so as long as i was singing along with the show i knew i was going to have fun but the actual show was great! Brought me to tears like the movie. Some people really sounded like their characters and of course Angel is always perfect. I wanted to go back and see it again but i went home and watched the movie instead.

RENT Is Just As Powerful 20 Years Later!

by Gio67 on 10/12/16Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

I saw the original Off Broadway and again on Broadway back in the 90s. By far, this show is one of the most poignant and powerful shows ever written for the stage. The cast of the 20th Anniversary Tour are equally as strong as the original cast. Sometimes in touring companies, you will notice weak links in the cast or performers just going through the motions. This show is not one of those! Every single performance was a standout, including those in the Ensemble. If this show is coming to your town, do not hesitate and get tickets! BRAVO

by mimimarquez on 10/12/16Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

I absolutely loved the show, the cast was amazing and it was definitely unforgettable. I've loved the show itself for so long and this cast did an incredible job at reviving it. I've dreamt of playing Mimi Marquez since I was about 15 and being able to see the show live just furthered my determination. My best wishes to the cast and crew.

Rent 20th anniversary tour as good as original

by Behrla on 10/12/16Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the performance of Rent. Every actor had an excellent voice. We were fortunate enough to see the original cast production, and this company was just as good. It was especially well-cast. Their singing voices were spot-on. Overall, this was an excellent experience, and we would strongly recommend it.

We had seen the show before but it was still amazing. And enervy and obvious enjoyment coming from the cast had me hooked. I was sucked in the first song, teared up as angel passed and ached when roger left. Nothing but the most amazing of complies for the show, the cast and all those who maDE it possible. Cheers to a fantabulous performance

    The Rent was Paid!

by brianjudge on 10/12/16Au-Rene Theater at the Broward Center - Ft Lauderdale

The production took me back to the Nederlander Theatre where I had seen the original play 20 years ago. At that time I was actually living that hand to mouth existence and bartending in the East Village, so it was very near to my heart. I was impressed with the actors, their voices and the band. The stage play fell short several times but all in all it was an excellent afternoon for my whole family.
