Red Roses Green Gold a grateful adventure

by Regcow on 12/5/17Minetta Lane Theatre - New York

Attended the show on Saturday, December 2nd, 2017. The theater was a small and intimate setting which added to the shows ambiance. The actor/ musicians were delightful, energetic, and talented. The storyline was simple but interesting in how they glued together Grateful Dead songs to tell a tale. It was a fun time with sing alongs, toe tapping, and dancing.

This was an amazing show with very talented actors. I would recommend anyone going not just deadheads. The music moves your soul along with the storyline. Thank you for an enjoyable day.

    beautiful

by BooGali on 12/4/17Minetta Theater - New York

While the story around the songs was a little loose their renditions of the Dead songs brought a tear to my eyes several times. The cast is amazingly talented and they did a fabulous job. I loved it!!

by TheatreFan1176 on 12/4/17Minetta Lane Theatre - New York

The plot was funny and well written, the acting was excellent, and the music was stellar. Great intimate theater. I highly recommend this to Deadheads and everyone else who appreciates great musicals. The cast played various musical instruments, and did so very well.

    Corny but thoroughly enjoyable!

by Felicialla on 11/28/17Minetta Lane Theatre - New York

Engaging plot utilizing Dead music, actors who play numerous instruments, dance & sing, and finale that rocked the house. If you love this music, go and enjoy the show.

    Worst show

by Yoko21 on 11/25/17Minetta Lane Theatre - New York

We left at intermission. I am a x-pro dancer/actor and have seen hundreds of shows. I have never walked out of a show before because I always find something to enjoy. The show itself was one of the most boring shows I have ever seen. Not to insult the talent but it was so overacted. I am not sure if that is because of bad directing or some of the cast were that bad. The musicians were very good and if they had just stuck to playing music it would have been so much better. I would give the music 4stars and the acting/play 1 star. Also we had first row seats which are suppose to be the best seats in the house. The stage was 5 feet above my head so we had to look way up to see, looking up actors noses. They should never put anyone in the first 5 rows.

Great comcept and If you are a dead head you really enjoyed it because you love the music. I thought the sets were great! If you were there for a show with character development, depth of plot etc.. you would be disappointed. While I think it could be done very well with a bit more script development. I think the actors broad talents were fantastic, although again the actual acting was a bit lacking, while musical talents were great.

Good musicians talented group but horrible story

by Abrams on 11/21/17Minetta Lane Theatre - New York

This off Broadway play somehow managed to use grateful dead lyrics and music and come together with a storyline into the play. The musicians and singers were very very good but the storyline was god awful. They somehow managed to take Grateful Dead songs and lyrics and make a play out of it but the writing was absolutely terrible. The cast was very talented , good singers and good musicians but kind of a waste of talent. Definitely a good time and had some entertainment value .

    the worst show ever

by browneyedgirl213 on 11/20/17Minetta Lane Theatre - New York

ii don't know what they were thinking. why would fans of grateful dead music relate to a corny show about hillbillies? the story was totally lame, and the acting was horrible to the point that I couldn't even enjoy the music. This may be the first show i ever walked out of. Save yourself the $$ and just listen to one of your bootleg Dead tapes instead.

    Music Good Plot Meh

by LenoxMiami on 11/19/17Minetta Lane Theatre - New York

Mostly pleasing renditions of Dead’s more melodic catalogue-but the story is beyond silly and hard to watch

    High energy, great music!

by BoogieMamma on 11/16/17Minetta Lane Theatre - New York

I had no idea what to expect from this show, but it was really different and fantastic. I loved every minute of it! The story was perfectly entwined to represent some of the greatest music of my time. The actors and actresses were so talented and full of energy to make the music come alive. Highly recommend and would love to go back!

    More than Grateful!

by tommybanjo on 11/14/17Minetta Lane Theatre - New York

Red Roses, Green Gold boasts an excellent cast and crew and unique storyline around the basis of Robert Hunter's lyrics and The Grateful Dead's music! The stage was filled with talented singers and multi-instrumentalists that told a story, created extravaganzas and coaxed us all into a singalong for the entire show. If you love the Grateful Dead, you will love this!
